“We’re not backing down and we are going to Ottawa,” Tamara Lich, a protest organizer from Medicine Hat, Alberta, says in a Facebook Live video posted on Sunday.

Organizers describe the vaccine mandate as an example of political overreach resulting in economic harm, arguing the policy hurts small businesses and denies some workers the means to survive. They also say they are not protesting the vaccine mandates for truckers, but all mandates and lockdowns linked to the pandemic response.

Think about this. From a standing start, this ‘army’ was mobilized, organized, financed, and shipped out in 3 days. In another 2 days it’s covered over 1,500 miles heading East, and additional columns have headed West, not sure how far they’ve traveled at this point.

It’d take the Cdn. Forces weeks to accomplish the same thing, with the same size force.

I’m not knocking the Cdn Forces; I’m just pointing out how incredible this enterprise is. The organizers are a folklore in the making.

For the longest time the media/government modus operandi of smearing anyone who disagrees with them as antivaxx bigoted racist homophobes has worked because people assumed everyone else felt the same. This is going to destroy that illusion.

    And, as far as Robson’s article was concerned, I closed the link when he noted that Trudeau had badmouthed everyone without even checking if they were angry old white men. Yeah, it was meant in jest but I don’t need the stereotype, even in fun.

It had an undertone to calm everyone down and be reasonable; don’t be too harsh towards the new aristocracy; don’t be like those poor dupes that gave us that nasty Trump. It was a load of bull. It made me think of an old quote “Diplomacy is the art of saying Nice doggie’ until you can find a rock” (google says it’s from Will Rogers). I think the article reveals some trepidation in the senior ranks.

    Last night in the -20 something of a January evening, several hundred people gathered on the side of the highway in a small Saskatchewan village, just as 1,000’s of others have done before us, and many more will continue to do. I expected only a fraction of that!
    This is not just a trucker thing, it’s not just a vax thing, it’s way bigger than any of that. People can see that there’s something wrong, and are looking for an answer. Our legal, normally accepted political process has been hijacked by those who want an unaccountable system of government that transfers the power of the people into the hands of a few. The ones we elected to speak for us are, for a number of reasons, are unable/ unwilling to exercise their obligations to us as the check and balance against a move towards tyranny.
    We are left dangling and frustrated as we don’t have a voice, and we absolutely to almost the last soul out here, know in our hearts that something must change, or we will lose most of what we, and our ancestors have worked our whole lives for. Freedom to live, work, and enjoy the amazing country we live in! Freedom to make choices that affect us and our communities. Freedom to take risks that we determine are right for our circumstances, not what some pencil neck somewhere has determined what is best for us. The evidence has been piling up for decades here, no unaccountable bureaucrat will ever be able to serve you and the best interests of your country better than an honest, community minded, unselfish individual. They almost always spend our capital building their own little empires, giving themselves raises and pensions, making themselves more visible and comfortable while the taxpayer works to support them! They aren’t accountable any more, our country cannot support this, and we all know it!
    We need hope! We need a voice, and that’s why we left our warm homes last night, to go and see if this might be a voice that we can trust! We stood there,in the cold, vaccinated beside unvaccinated, farmers beside professors, kids beside seniors, men and women, waiting to see a glimpse of hope. A hope that these people who are spending their own resources, leaving their homes and businesses behind, to drive to Ottawa to try make a difference in our lives. It remains to be seen if they will succeed in convincing the elites in power that they are out of bounds, but I can tell you from simply looking around at what I see happening, they have started something bigger than any of us could have imagined! It’s time!

      1. Geezus, lighten up! There have been enough scams run on GoFund Me in the past that they HAVE to be tough with their due diligence. This fundraiser started last Friday and is now at almost $5M! That’s probably unprecedented in that short of a period.
        The organizers knew going in that they’d be subject to intense scrutiny and said so publicly. Not much could be accomplished in finding Accounting and Legal resources over the weekend, so no surprise that there’s a hold on disbursements. This is a good thing.
        Whining about it and starting ridiculous rumors puts you in bed with the MSM.

  17. Lance has I think summarized the serious concerns of a very large proportion of the Canadian population. Unfortunately that will be treated with disdain by the ‘leaders’ as they believe they know best. This parade led by the truckers but supported by huge numbers of private citizens must be the spearhead of a concerted and continuous push to tame the flagrant bullying. They will offer one or two minor concessions and expect everybody to disperse, when they will immediately reintoduce even more draconian measures. That must not be allowed to happen. Is there even a list of real demands that will be presented in Ottawa. Is there a format that can be used to ensure concessions are met that will not be immediately denied by the CBC? All power to the people on this journey but please make sure that you will not be duped by the fraudsters in power in the euphoria of the moment. Don’t trust anything they tell you unless it is in writing. You have the blessings of so many people urging you forward.

    1. Pick up Justin at Rideau Cottage and do whatever they have to do to make him reconsider the vaccine mandates for truckers.

    2. Puck up Chrystia and give her two choices: end the federal carbon tax or be tossed headfirst into the Russian embassy compound by a few hefty truckers.

  25. Is Ottawa the right destination though? I would say Toronto. If Ontario changes its policy on COVID then the federal government will likely back down. When Trudeau can hide behind the multi-party consensus of provincial governments (who have most of the say in this) then nothing is going to happen. If provincial governments signal they have had enough of the pandemic then I think the feds will cave pretty fast. In theory they are in charge but in practice the provinces have about 75% of the responsibility for this event and an end to it will probably come when they say “enough.” And that won’t happen if their citizens don’t put pressure on them. When the truckers arrive in Ottawa, Trudeau is just going to hide behind federalism and the Canada Health Act. Maybe they should turn right at Sudbury and go to Queen’s Park.

The Reform party did very well on individual donations – they operated in the black. The money and energy of those party members may have gone latent while the Conservative Party first as a government then as a fake opposition piddled away their trust and hence support (tying it back to Theo’s observation).

I/m jabbed unfortunately.But my daughter isn’t.So I’m supporting her.Been to 3 rallies First one in Vancouver that drew 10 people Very disheartening.Next one had a couple of hundred.Then Sunday we stood on the overpass in Langley with many hundreds to send them off. Also donated to gofundeme as well as e-transfer and the rest of the days are spent reading the progress on gab.com. The’ve raised almost 5 mil. but will probably need more to out wait the feds.They have one shot at this.Hopefully they(we) are successful.
    Support them if you can. I have NEVER donated to any other cause but this is crucial.

  34. The government is playing hardball. The “Convoy to Ottawa 2022” Facebook group was taken down yesterday – it had surpassed 500,000 members. A followup group has been started – “Convoy to Ottawa 2022 Restart” and has over 90,000 members, but I have been unable to join it. I get the following message.

    If you think that this doesn’t go against our Community Standards, let us know.” I have asked FB to unblock me.
    Meanwhile the “Go-Fund-Me” site to support the truckers, having raised nearly $5 million, has been shut down. Global says it because Go-Fund-Me wants to see a written plan on how the funds will be dispersed before it will release the money. I wonder who made them do that.
    MSM, having been bought and paid for by the Liberal government, are reporting that the convoy and its supporters could be dangerous. Some suspect that the media are being fed by the PM’s chief of staff and the former principal secretary.
    So far Trudeau fils has been sending messages through his Transport minister. Makes you wonder what will come out of the cabinet “retreat” later today. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a replay of Trudeau pere’s 1970 “Just watch me”. Perhaps the army will intercept the convoy at Marathon.
    Ever wonder if the avalanche got the wrong Trudeau? The country might have been better off.
