What’s the difference between Israel and Canada?

While most countries are still trying to finish inoculating their populations for the first time, Israel is already preparing for a second round of booster doses. The country is making efforts to secure sufficient supply in case a fourth round of Covid-19 shots is needed, according to a top health official.

“We don’t know when it will happen; I hope very much that it won’t be within six months, like this time, and that the third dose will last for longer,” Health Ministry Director General Nachman Ash said in an interview with Radio 103FM.

Israel began a drive to administer booster shots at the beginning of August, and has so far inoculated about 2.8 million people with a third dose.

How significant is it that the two top FDA officials responsible for vaccine research resigned last week and this week signed a letter in The Lancet that strongly warns against vaccine boosters? This is a remarkable sign that the project of government-managed virus mitigation is in the final stages before falling apart.

The booster has already been promoted by top lockdown advocates Neil Ferguson of Imperial College and Anthony Fauci of NIH, even in the face of rising public incredulity toward their “expert” advice. For these two FDA officials to go on record with grave doubts – and their perspective is certainly backed by the unimpressive booster experience in Israel – introduces a major break in the narrative that the experts in charge deserve our trust and deference.

What’s at stake here? It’s about more than the boosters. It’s about the whole experience of taking away the control of health management from individuals and medical professionals and handing it over to modelers and government officials with coercive power. […]

At no point in these 19 months have we seen a clear admission of failure on the part of government officials. Indeed, it’s mostly been the opposite, as the agencies double down, claiming effectiveness while citing no data or studies, while social media companies backed it all by taking down contrarian posts and brazenly deleting accounts of people who dare cite dissenting science.

The vaccine was the biggest gamble of all simply because the program was so expensive, so personal, and so wildly oversold. Even those of us who opposed every other mandate had hopes that the vaccines would finally end the public panic and provide governments a way to back out of all the other strategies that had failed.

That did not happen.

Most people believed that the vaccine would work like many others before them to block infection and spread. In this, people were merely believing what the head of the CDC said. “Our data from the C.D.C. today suggests that vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don’t get sick,” Rochelle Walinsky told Rachel Maddow. “And that it’s not just in the clinical trials, it’s also in real-world data.”

“You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations,”President Biden said, reflecting what was the common view in the summer of 2021.

That of course turned out not to be the case. The vaccines appear to have been helpful in mitigating against some severe outcomes but it did not achieve victory over the virus. Israel’s surge in infections in August was among the fully vaccinated. The same happened in the UK and Scotland, and that precise result began to hit the US in September. Indeed, we all have vaccinated friends who caught the virus and were sick for days. Meanwhile, team natural immunity has received a huge boost from a large study in Israel that demonstrated that recovered Covid cases gain far more protection than is conferred by the vaccine.

The fallback position then became the booster. Surely this is the answer! Israel was first to mandate them. Here again, the problems began to show, as yet another magic bullet of disease mitigation failed. Then the inevitable headline came: Israel preparing for possible fourth COVID vaccine dose. So think about this because there is a sense in which the vaccines rank among the biggest failures: in a matter of a few short months, we’ve gone from the claim that they fully protect to they are pretty okay provided you get regularly scheduled boosters forever.

One of our clients sent us a letter here in Edmonton stating their new policy is requiring all contractors/visitors to provide proof of double vaccination to enter their building. Same with the students, one of the NAIT students I know just received an email stating same, thankfully she is taking online courses. I can’t imagine being forced to choose between gainful employment and my personal health. So it begins. This is so crazy. Make them fire you. Don’t quit. Maybe a lawyer can help. Unbelievable times we’re in. I really feel for you. Aaargh! It’s so upsetting. I try to acknowledge both sides vax/unvax are good and solid people operating out of 2 separate beliefs. One side believes the system works /government is doing the best they can for society/vaccine saves lives and the other side believes that the system is suspect/government is out for itself/vaccine might not be safe. Both could be true. Both could be false. Only time will tell. The problem is one side is being punished to hold their belief. And that is the biggest and most dangerous tragedy of it.         1. This is why it is important to organize the unvaxxed at each employer to make sure they all hold the line, so that severance costs will be prohibitive and the policy will change, especially if critical personnel resist.

          I have a friend in hospitality and he is seeing this. A week ago the informal notification came from his dept head that a mandatory vaccine policy was coming for Sep 22, must be double-jabbed by Oct 31. Yesterday the dept head told them to wait a bit before rushing to get vaxxed because things are in flux. He’s hearing about wide resistance in the ranks, and key players like the Exec Chef saying “No” has forced them to reconsider.

I am hoping ( perhaps foolishly) that if Conservatives are elected, there will be some backing off.         1. I often wonder how many in LTC’s, etc., have died within 3 weeks of getting the “life-saving” vaccine. Both my father in law and mother in law died within 3 weeks of their second shot.

          1. My friend’s wife works in a retirement apartment (generally healthy people). She saw enough deaths after the vax in January that she declared her family was not getting jabbed. They’ve been on ivermectin and staying healthy.

In the US they are still trumpeting the “epidemic of the unvaxxed” lie, because they know that most people don’t know that the partially vaxxed are counted in the statistics as unvaxxed here, and that the CDC changed the testing standards for vaccinated people in the spring to minimize what is called breakthrough cases in vaccinated people .

  8. This is very dismaying to me. Til now I have looked upon Israel as the most reliable source of data. Maybe I am naive but I gave Israeli public health officials the benefit of the doubt, in that I didn’t believe that they would be reckless with their own population. Too me, the pressure to continue with more boosters is a concern. Where and how do they have the data that justifies this?
    Robert Malone has cautioned about this tactic, he has claimed that there is a potential tipping point after which ever greater dosages have a negative effect. I can’t think of the term that describes this phenomenon, but I have heard of it before. I am not sure if it’s called the “rebound effect”, maybe someone else recalls. I’m thinking about the use of nasal sprays or eye drops, where the user is warned not to take it indefinitely because the medication’s effect wears off, and the user is back to square one with worse symptoms that what the user had initially.

And since the vaccine effect is time limited (and variant limited), over time it does no longer matter how many people get vaccinated…

Someone the other day said that 75% of people who get the flu get no symptoms and I think this virus, whatever it actually is, is no different, considering the number of “cases” vs the number of people who actually got sick or died from (not with) it.

    It’s obvious the current vaccines are not what was advertised. Individuals, small businesses and state leaders are rebelling. Courts are starting to hear cases so data will have to be revealed and scrutinized. Policies infringing on constitutions, medical ethics and basic human rights will have to be justified. Careers and reputations might be destroyed…some names and companies may even achieve villanous infamy.

    Everyone will get this virus.           3 billion vaccinations and 45,000 deaths (0.0015% deaths)
          219M covid cases and 4.55M deaths (2.1% deaths)

          My conclusion is that the vaccinations are not a major health risk compared to the virus. Are the vaccinations preventing covid? Absolutely not. Are they reducing symptoms for those infected? I have no idea. I’m suspicious that they probably don’t, otherwise we wouldn’t be subjected to such a marketing (fear) campaign.

          Can I provide any long term proof of long term safety? No. But perhaps you have the studies they did on the polio and other vaccines on long term safety before they introduced those vaccines (hint: there are none). So you are asking for something that, but it’s very nature, won’t exist. I think that is a straw-man argument.

          The current panic regarding vaccines is setting a very dangerous precedent. The covid virus is bad, but not catastrophic. What is going to happen when a much worse virus appears? People’s reluctance to vaccinate will be met head-on by a massive pile of bodies of stubborn anti-vaxxers. I’m ok with that. I agree with you that people should make up their own mind.

          It would be interesting to take your attitude back in time to when polio and other contagious viruses were more common (before vaccinations). Would you let a child with polio play with your healthy child, for example, both unvaccinated, hoping for that “natural immunity”?

          More relevant, would you keep your elderly father or grandfather from getting a flu vaccine because you thought the vaccine was worse than the prevention effect?

    Covid cases are going through the roof in Saskatchewan (60% double-jabbed), compared to Ontario (70%). I respect the wishes of those who do not want to get jabbed. They can deal with covid-19 directly. Best wishes and good luck.

    Not that there is any relationship but Ontario has the lowest obesity rate in Canada and Saskatchewan has one of the highest. Hospitals in Saskatchewan are filling up with covid patients – well maybe the whole thing is a conspiracy theory to limit your freedom and that is why all the hospitals claim to be filling up with sick people. But my question is … why are so many fat and unhealthy people complaining about vaccinations affecting their health? And don’t get me started on smoking. I was just in Saskatchewan for 10 days and it seemed to me that every fat fuck in that province smokes like a chimney – taking time between puffs no doubt to complain about government-mandated vaccination programs.

    4. A person can lose weight and stop smoking but you can’t un-take a faulty vaccine. Obesity and smoking are known risks but no one has a clue about mid to long term side effects of these vaccines. Going by the amount of immediate severe side effects that have been unexpectedly appearing on a regular basis, these vaccines do not inspire confidence. Neither does the need for multiple boosters as seen in Israel.

    6. Why? Pretty simple….because the troughs and peaks of the pandemic do not rise and fall at the same time around the world. You can pick and choose the data that aligns with your bias if you wish, but the long term data is your friend. It also shows pretty clearly the various levers of government stringency around the world and how effective (or mostly ineffective) they are. Look, I understand you are miffed that you have been vaccinated and will not accept that you have been had, but don’t take that out on everyone around you.

      1. I was not the one to “pick and choose” the data that aligns with my bias. I have a simple bias. Why are fat smokers complaining about the dangers of vaccinations, which I believe are relatively small in comparison to being a fat smoker? But to your bias I reiterate. Why are people looking at Sweden and Israel when Saskatchewan (and B.C.) are showing rapid increases in covid infections (and so many posters are from these provinces)? To me it’s like a farmer wishing the locusts would come because they aren’t as bad as everyone is saying.

        To those who would compare covid to the flu I ask 2 questions:

        1. why are so many people being hospitalized with covid relative to the flu? Does that not make covid a more dangerous virus?

        2. if vaccinations lower natural immunity why don’t we all get the flu every year? After all many people get vaccinated for the flu every year for at least a decade. Are we having a flu pandemic as a result of over-vaccinations of the flu?

        1. Flu numbers have always been bullshit. Health authorities have admitted they were always modelled estimates, real numbers unknown.
          There’s also a propensity for the obese to be native, they natives have metabolism issues with excessive carbohydrate intake (pop, chips, junk food) and get fat fast. Plus, it is very likely they also have poor VitD levels, due to lack of sunshine and not being pale. Not a racist statement, when NY was in full blown COVID last year, the majority of deaths were the non-white population. Obesity and low VitD levels contributed to those deaths.
          Delta is more contagious, that’s been established. And, BonBon is playing fast and loose with her numbers, currently playing the “pandemic of the unvaxxed “ card. Enjoy the moment BonBon, 6 fully vaxxed LTC residents just died in Victoria……is the problem cases or deaths?…….hmmmmmm……………..

          Maybe they knew my cousin’s wife. Smoked and had a high carb diet – she died a few days after the jab.
          I really don’t know what the confounding factors are for adverse reactions to the jab. But I suspect people who know their health is on the edge don’t want to invite fate.

  32. Cases per million people are a dodgy measure, depending on how extensive testing is.
    The impute of the ‘difference’ graph & comments is that the number of vaccinations is somehow positively correlated with the number of cases; that is, that the vaccine is dangerous.

    But a comparison of deaths with vaccinations shows a negative correlation:
