Immunity Debt

Is what you get when you lock people down and keep them isolated from one another. New Zealand is finding this out the hard way with an unprecedented outbreak of RS virus.  And as it has yet to peak they’re getting worried about treatment supplies.  Here is the NY Times story on it. Check out this chart, the bump of blue lines in the middle are normal years, the green line across the bottom was 2020, basically zero all year, and the red line is up until July 12 this year.

New Zealand RS Virus outbreaks

It’s not just New Zealand, the Dutch have the same problem, all over the US  , France, South Africa and Australia, Japan

Immunity debt is a fancy way of saying you’ve lost herd immunity to something. That’s the hypothesis anyways. The other take away from all this is that our midwit public health officials can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. All they’re worried about right now is covid and getting herd immunity to that by only one method, needles in arms.

Welcome to complex systems.

    1. So when will Mommy and Daddy tell the Government and the Experts To Fuck Off.

Or will you keep SMOTHERING yourselves and your Children when ordered by your OVERLORDS.
And lining up for the mystery goo jab

    2. Summer “colds”, in the tropics and subtropics, are caused by corona viruses, where I am; so we are, maybe, seeing a true rise here. That said, when dealing with syndromes, of which the common cold is one; there are multiple causes of these, so RSV can be one of them, among others.

  1. And what will this years flu do when it kicks in? Given we had almost none last year.

    1. “Some epidemiological research shows that respiratory viruses can compete with each other in a way that means one virus can suppress the spread of another.

RSV and influenza virus are a good example of that, says Meskill, explaining that when both try to infect the same cell, one will win. What’s more, when RSV levels in a population tend to be high, levels of flu tend to be low, and vice versa.

Tanya Miura, a virologist at the University of Idaho, says that when a new pandemic flu virus swept through in 2009, “it was delayed in certain populations that were having ongoing outbreaks of other respiratory viruses at the time.”

  2. They’ve taken the same fatal conceit that central planners use to pick winners and losers in the economy and applied it to health.

  3. But, but, but … our “scientists” and “Doctors” know everything!? Esp. those who couldn’t make it in the REAL world of medicine … and went to work in a cushy bureaucratic government job. Right? jao Bidin-Heiress places ALL his trust in these … experts.

  4. The zero flu? All the flu cases got counted as COVID. I might be a little crazy but I’m not stupid.

    1. Given that they are using PCR tests these days for influenza, that might be more true than “expected”, by the “experts”.

    1. Didn’t read the article, did you? Or was it that you didn’t understand it (which is my assumption, based on your past performance and bad luck when you try to think)?

Unvaccinated India (less than 3%) is having fewer fatal cases (as a percentage) than places like Israel (over 65% vaccinated).

  5. L – Lockdowns compromise the immune system was a theme of some videos in May/June of 2020, by physicians trained in immunology. They were ignored, as were clinicians developing therapeutic protocols for treating Covid-19 patients. Government decreed there was no approved therapy. Truth became a matter of government opinion.

The Public Health hires became the equivalent of Soviet Commissars. Those political appointees introduced Marxist Medicine to Western nations.

Every Western government surrendered and hoisted a white flag, without even putting up a fight in defence of the Scientific Method. Public Health Commissars took over running the entire country. Marxist agriculture starved tens of millions, Marxist medicine is on target to
    do the same.

  6. In 2009, the year of the swine flu, my eight year old son’s Halloween costume was being boy who didn’t wash his hands after going to the bathroom. Needless to say, people were scared! This year, it will be maskless children people will be scared of!

  7. Nearly every pro-vaxx commentator in the MSM fervently believes that society can simply micromanage this virus. If the previous micromanagement scheme failed, then that was only because the correct formula was not implemented. Rinse and repeat. When enough of these schemes fail the cries for mass incarceration of the unvaccinated will grow.

    1. Micromanaging virus is like socialism, next time a charm, no wonder socialists love it.

  8. Interesting.

I know a family in FL USA that recently had RSV – father and kids. Fortunately the mom didn’t, and was able to care for the rest of them.

  9. 1. Take their guns.
    2. Lock them up.
    3. Watch them die.

Stupid little country. So different from Bananada, … we’re a stupid bigger country.

  10. They get what they deserve. Many were predicting that exactly this would happen.

They elected a smug kook who was certain she new best.

  11. Great points Francisco!

    I agree 100%.

Our public health officials are highly overrated. They don’t understand complex systems and they most definitely don’t understand cost-benefit analysis.
