Do Tell…

Some Damn fine reporting here.

LILLEY: Unmarked graves were documented years ago but most of us looked away
It was all there in the 2015 report from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

It was all there, ready for anyone to read in the 2015 report from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. There is an entire 273-page volume devoted just to this issue titled, “Canada’s Residential Schools: Missing Children and Unmarked Burials.”

The language in the report is matter of fact, the content is heartbreaking.

A total of 3,201 children documented to have died, or thought to have died, at Canada’s residential schools. Thought to have died is included because records remain incomplete — some are thought to have died after running away, others were presumed dead when they did not return.

As for the cemeteries, they are there in the report.

These were not hidden cemeteries as some have wrongfully thought or implied, they were part of the whole horrid system. The schools had cemeteries because the government refused to pay to transport the bodies of students who died back to their parents.

Read the whole thing, every word.

Official Report

Update: Candace Malcolm has a good summary/recap here. h/t Warren Zoell

  1. So, the government refused to pay/send the dearly departed who passed in these residential schools…
Speaks a whole lot on Trudeau passing the buck don’t you think?

Pass the blame on the racist bastards of today for yesterday’s government mistakes.
Man up you whimpering asshole Trudeau!

    1. Liberals don’t give a shit about dead kids. They care about gaining, maintaining and expanding power.

      1. Ward..

As true now as it was since Time Immemorial.
LIBERAL = Lying Thieving Eastern Based SCUM

      2. It isn’t just that they don’t give a shit – just as with “Palestine” they want MORE dead kids. Dead kids are fodder for their half-century long demoralization campaign. It’s like social services and the various psychology pseudosciences: can you imagine how fast they’d dry up if people got their shit together and stopped having unwanted kids they treat like garbage? They’d HATE that!

  2. But reporting the narrative is soooo much easier. Jouralists are not the best and brightest, and most are shall we say, very, very relaxed in their work habits. You could actually try researching your story, but then you won’t have as much time to play “Look at MEEEE!!!” on Twatter.

  3. The slime stream media picked a false narrative and ran with it, of course we knew the grave yards existed but the truth has no place in the slime stream media? How many of those children died of TB or other diseases? The media want the public to infer those children died because of the church, notice how they gloss over the role the goberment played?

    1. Someone posted that in 1900 one out of every three children died before the age of five and I don’t think the poster pulled that out of a hat. There is a graveyard in my home town with dozens of unmarked graves and dozens more with multiple deaths of young children from the many diseases that took them in those days. I do not believe the narrative about the deaths any more than I believe the whu who flu is going to kill us all. Government actions might but not the flu.

  4. Residential Schools: There to indoctrinate kids into an alien culture.
Public Schools: There to indoctrinate kids into an alien culture.
    Plus ca change.

    1. Indoctrinate the FN’s children into civilization.

Tell me again … HOW is that a stain on Canada’s history?

      1. Taking kids against the wishes of the family is kidnapping.
Spare me your “State knows best” rhetoric.

          1. My daughter worked for the Children’s Aid after university. One of the things she had to do under court order was remove children from abusive and just plain dangerous circumstances. It is as true today as it was yesterday. Intellectual acuity is needed these days as it is sorely lacking.

        1. Thanks for clarifying the point. I agree. Forced removal is a stain. Educating FN children and helping them integrate into society … not a stain.

OTOH … try keeping your children home from public school, today … and see how long before the truant officers pay you a visit. Doesn’t the government “forcibly” remove kids from their homes (daily) and educate them in the latest wokeness approved by the government? Yes, home schooling … but with many strings attached.

        2. It’s not kidnapping when the government creates laws in that regard. To this day, the State takes kids against the wished of the family. Piss off.

      2. Kenji, The RCC is a criminal org, worst than the Mafia. And there were many kids murdered out rite, and there is documentation to back that up. Queerbeck is a socialist/communist shithole, thanks to the RCC. And our criminal detention institutes are loaded with abused people, and much of that abuse is by religious institutes, just ask those who work there, one of my friends did, and 2 from my extended family did. And I know several people who worked with troubled kids, and ditto, church again looms large in that industry. The other big player, is abuse and sexual abuse by family members. I am well versed as to this crap show, had many discussions about it!

      3. I always wonder where the modern FN leadership started their education?.. All those ex-leaders with their law degrees.

    2. Why would anyone want their children to learn their values from the Philistines?

      We homeschooled in the 80’s.

  5. I knew about this in my teens, 60 years ago.
Why is this an issue now? A distraction for Trudeau?
This could have been dealt with 50 years ago.
    What prevented any action?
    Where are the cemeteries boards.
Where were the Children’s Aid Societies?
    More questions….

    1. WillR, andy O’Stool said that there was good as to residential schools, so, next election we will see erin andy’s quote, next to articles written about this. andy O’Stool is like erin scheep, stupid on his political feet. Butt there is a silver lining to all this, O’Stool is not mad MAX, and that is enough for a few ASSHOLES in here.

  6. Suckered by the media. Canadians fell for it like the dumb ass chumps they always are.

  7. All this information is also in the Canadian Encyclopedia. One good way to get rid of the Churches, Freedom of Speech and Thought Gone…signs of Cancel Culture the WOKE at work Communism coming to Canada via Trudeau.

    1. bt, have you read about the current pope? Communist to the core, and many priests in C America, S America, and Africa have been communist since the 60T’s, that I am aware of

        1. +++++/\ HToad

          yep….

          Heres my beef.

The RCC is a quasi Legalized Safe Space for PEDOPHILES and until that Filthy Child Abusing Cabal Admits it has a problem and actually DOES SOMEthing about it…?? Do not expect me to cry, whine, moan & wring my hands seeing their supposed houses of the HOLY BURN.

          carry on…

          1. As Horny Toad said, that’s no different than the current US and Canadian governments. Burning churches hurts the congregants and the local community far more than any bishop or cardinal.

  8. When will the Government of Canada Under Trudeau, answer for the decision of the Government of Canada under Trudeau to not maintain the graveyards at the residential schools?

  9. The First Nations people recently tore down statues of Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, and then Blackie appoints an Inuit to be the Queen’s representative in the colonial role of Governor General.
He either has a sense of irony, or he is as stupid as he looks.

    1. I think the appointment of Simon is a good one, but he should have loudly condemned the attacks on the statues of Queen Victoria an Queen Elizabeth. Surely these are hate crimes, as are the church burnings. Ultimately they are examples of attacks on Canada and our heritage. And Trudeau has nothing to say. Would he remain silent with a mosque burning or destruction of some native symbol? When your own Prime Minister cannot speak out as the country is being systematically undermined by anarchist forced, there is no hope.

    1. Nope. Why isn’t the government proving DNA testing and matching to FN’s families? Sorry. My bad … I didn’t mean to give your Boy-PM any new ideas for wasting taxpayer money.

  10. The entire fiasco of the unmarked graves at Christian schools is a distraction for the Trudeau Government. It is to keep the information on the Winnipeg Level 4 virus lab and the Trudeau government’s involvement with the Chinese scientists who stole corona viruses and transported them to Wuhan where they eventually made the Covid 19 virus. Trudeau Government is hiding this information from the rest of parliament and the information must be damning as he has sued a member of his own caucus to keep the information sealed. He is now trying to keep the information sealed forever due to “National Security”. Likely would be the biggest scandal of his lowly career, to date. He will keep the bought and paid for CBC driving the narratives on anything to keep the lab information quiet. At least until he get’s a majority. God help Canada if he does. No one else will.

    1. Greg, I think God has decided to let us bury ourselves in our own filth, no pun intended.

    2. +++++/\. Second upvote of the day to Greg.

      I totally AGREE.
MORE info Must come out on the Winnipeg LAB, allowing ChiComm Researchers within, its involvement with Gain of Function on Corona Viruses and who Signed off on it….besides that POS THAM and its dipshit of a Minister, Hadju.

      Asking for Humanity….

  11. I can’t see this changing anything. The Toronto Star will continue to blame the evil settlers, Turdeau will dawn his buckskin jacket, moccasins and beads and paddle on into to a northern reserve to great fanfare and the 6 Nations will discover 1000+ unknown and unmarked graves (not unknown to them or people who are familiar with the area) and shut down Highway 6……. again.

If all the indigenous were dragged kicking and screaming from their homes and forced to go to residential schools how come so many of them attended the same school as my parents in the 1950s?

  12. Do tell, indeed. The lack of historical perspective is just extraordinary. News flash, before electricity and railroads, everyone’s life pretty much sucked. Before vaccines, antibiotics, and clean water everyone lived with pain, suffering, and tragedy. It wasn’t just the children’s death toll; if you were born before 1900 you had a high probability of becoming an orphan before you were five.

“Records were incomplete”……..Well yeah, time marches on. This is not unique to residential schools.

” the government refused to pay to transport the bodies of students who died back to their parents.”………. Wait, what? When was it routine to transport bodies in those days, with the possible exception of soldiers? TB Asylums had cemeteries too, I know; I have hunted through the death records.

“ unless the government took steps to care for the cemetery, it would lead to instances of neglect, with very distressing results.” ………. This is an unfortunate reality everywhere; often local governments pick up the slack.

These illnesses were exacerbated by the living conditions of the schools and the poor medical treatment provided,……..Pray tell, what medical treatment would that be?

I am struck by how maudlin and highly selective the writer’s compassion is. I know that this is a tragic story, and it is distressing to go page by page through death records. What I object to, is the childish expectation that it must be sinister when people of the past don’t live up to today’s standards, even though they didn’t have the means or the resources.

  13. In June 2019 the Regina Leader-Post published a story about an initiative by the Catholic Church and the Cowessess First Nation to “rejuvenate” the gravesite which was next to the Marieval residential school. This is the gravesite which caused the second mass outrage in the mainstream media a few weeks ago. This barely two-year old news was immediately flushed down the memory hole (except it was posted on the this site by a SDAer who remembered the story). Here are some of the highlights of this two-year old story.

    1) The burial site is on the reserve;
    2) Non-aboriginal catholics are buried there;
    3) people from the reserve who did not attend the residential school are buried there;
    4) 40% of the graves are marked;
    5) In 2019 work by the First Nation and the Catholic Church began to “rejuvenate” the gravesite as recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

“Cowessess First Nation and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina have partnered to rejuvenate the gravesite, located on the reserve since 1898. The official partnership began last year and last week, the Archdiocese announced a $70,000 investment. Part of the money is for aesthetic upgrades, including trees and fences. It will also go toward identifying graves and creating a map of the site. A central monument for all individuals buried there is also planned, which will be beneficial for people like Lerat, who didn’t have the money to buy headstones.”

“Sixty per cent of the graves don’t have markers. It’s also difficult to find the gravesite’s boundary because there’s no fence.”

“Chief Cadmus Delorme said Cowessess partnered with the Archdiocese because the site includes graves of Catholic residents who lived nearby. Some attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, which was on the reserve until it burned down last November. The $70,000 investment came from the insurance money collected after the fire.”

“The site was also located next to Marieval Residential School, which was in operation between 1898 and 1996. Because many graves are unmarked, it’s difficult to tell if any children from Marieval were buried there, but the Archdiocese said it’s likely because the school was in operation for so long and it was the community’s only burial site.”

“Donald Bolen, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina, agreed the project isn’t just about designating funds. He said this project fit well with the “calls to action” the Truth and Reconciliation Commission set out in 2015 to mend the broken ties.
“Calls to action 73 to 75 are about residential school cemeteries and the request for support from churches who were involved in those schools,” said Bolen. “We were grateful to receive this request from Cowessess.”

“All of the upkeep is strictly volunteerism,” he said.”

    1. Sounds fantastic! And the appropriate, responsible, respectful, response to the “mass burial” Residential School sites.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else think it is IRONIC that the most highly “educated” elite leftists in America (and Canada – I suppose) were all “educated” in elite Residential (Boarding) schools? I suppose they are partly ‘projecting’ their own resentment for being packed up and shipped off for their “elite” education …

  14. lets see now, government sent FN kids to residential schools, FN parents sent their kids to residential schools. The schools were run by the RCC, at the behest of the gubbermint. So the gubbermint is as complicit as any one. But that does not vacate the troubling aspect of how the RCC ran those schools , and the damage they did to many kids, including many white kids

    1. I went to one of those school for high school.Just like any other organization there were good and bad teachers. If you call having to stay an hour after school to memorize poetry, because I was a jerk in class, abuse then ya I suffered a LOT of abuse.

      1. Thank you h.toad !

I seem to notice that EVERY… “recovering Catholic” … has piled onto the Residential Schools issue. Either due to their hatred of religion … or The Pope … or just due to their resentment for having to pay attention in class.

  15. My brother worked for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. One of his jobs was to check out the conditions of old abandoned cemeteries from time to time. Some of them were no longer accessible by roads. Overgrown plots, missing markers, and quite often the tombstones were for small “settler” children that died from various diseases common at the time. Life was tough and short for many immigrants who tried to scratch a living in Northern Ontario. Where is the public outrage and Blackie’s money for those graves?

    1. Of course it won’t. A brand-new 4 x 4 pick-up truck could cost at least $75,000 nowadays. Somebody has to pay for them, right?

        1. That was a price quoted to me a year or so ago and I’m sure it was conservative. I don’t remember if it allowed for the trade-in of my current truck.

My late father bought the truck in 2013 and it’s quite basic. It has satellite radio and air conditioning as well as a longer box. He paid around $50,000 for it and I’m sure he didn’t get much in trade for the previous pick-up, which he drove for about 20 years.

A few weeks ago, I was talking with a contractor who was one of my father’s buddies. He was saying that a new truck, similar to what he was driving, would be at least $100,000 after trade-in. That assumes, of course, that a dealer can get one.

    2. horny toad,

      Too true.
I’m marking it as a psy-ops campaign. It’s all about LOOT.
On the drive out to UBC in Vancouver there are at least 100 little orange t-shirts on little hangers on little wooden sticks. Awwwww. The poor little bairns.
My wife said, “How did they come up with 100s (maybe 1000s) of these little childrens’ t-shirts and all in the same colour on such short notice?”.
      Q.E.D.

  16. “Unmarked graves were documented years ago but most of us looked away”

Of course they were, there is a full documentation somewhere in the archives of the government, unless the ministry of truth revised them.

There is zero profit for anybody in the ruling class to look at that.

There, on the other hand, is a lot of profit in outrage and pretensions.
For the press, they can masturbate the population for a long time.
For the politicians, they can make proclamations and make themselves look good, truth be damned.
For the natives, a lot, as in, a lot of cold hard cash.

Now, why would any one of those look at the truth?
    I ask.

Other than that it is a tragedy.

  17. The media have juiced-up their normal hysteria pimping as a co ordinated effort on this file as the Spawn wants to use it as his snowboard to election victory. The polling must have discovered excellent responses from the Eloi on the perception of Church-run torture chambers bent on exterminating Indians. The realities were something different of course. It was likely that the majority of sexual assaults, for example were perpetrated by senior students from abusive family situations completing the cycle on junior students in the dorms. https://fcpp.org/2017/11/02/teaching-the-residential-school-story/
Also, for many, the conditions at the residential schools were better than those at home.

As to the coercion of compulsory education by the state, while I am opposed to it from a political standpoint, from the perspective of Canadian apartheid, which is a far greater and ongoing sin, it’s hard to disassociate the last Canadian (flawed) attempt at assimilation from the reality of Indians on reserves being essentially wards of the state.

    1. My wife is a bus driver. Every morning she takes kids away from their homes against their will to be taught bullshit by the school system.

  18. No action was taken earlier because there was no George Floyd mentality at the time. Now it’s easy to shake down whitey plus Prinz Dummkopf is shamelessly whoring for votes.

    1. Yep using dead indigenous children from a CENTURY ago to get elected TODAY.

It gives the expression “pimp my ride” a whole new meaning.

They had to change the channel from the “cluster stupid” of the Covid19 response…lest anyone discover they were being experimented upon.

      Cheers

      Hans Rupprecht, Commander in Chief

      1st Saint Nicolaas Army
      Army Group “True North”

      1. Good any funny…
        Pimp my ride.
Media for Trudeau votes in any sleazy, dirt bag way.

    2. BA- it’s clearly whoring for votes. I have noticed a preponderance of Indigenous ads/heritage minutes on both TV and radio in the past couple of weeks.

It is like they were already “in the can”, you know, kinda like election ads.

    3. BADR:

      BINGO.
Proof: The Indian psy-ops slogan: Every Child Matters.
      A typical Canadian derivative.

  19. To be a Canadian is to show your support for genocide. White supremacists typically will sew Canadian flags onto their backpacks, fly a Canadian flag in their yard or vote for political leaders that have appeared in blackface on multiple occasions to show their support for the genocide of the indigenous peoples. Canada must be broken up and cease to exist to atone for its sins. Luckily, I’m an Albertan not a Canadian.

    1. You and I both know that the only way to atone for our sins as Canadians is to vote Liberal. That’s the idea here.

  20. The fu*king media has”ginned” up this who thing and are now responsible for the deaths and devastation in Lytton. as
it will probably be shown that the fire started in the local church on the indian land.
The media could not possibly be MORE RESPONSIBLE for this. HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.

  21. The We Were Here First Nations should take their shit out on one person who represents more than anyone or thing, the past abuses of the state and church, the current abuses and negligence of the state and, no doubt, the bleak future guaranteed by the state.

  22. Ever wonder why Paul Revere didn’t just send a group text?

    That’s the idiocy behind this.
1 – the published numbers conflict, but very roughly 1 in 3 children born alive died before age 15 (from 1860 to 1920)
2 – health care for children in residential schools was vastly better than average childcare elsewhere (reservations & homesteads)
3 – Christian burial was generally not available on reserves
4 – no freezers etc, so a corpse that spent two weeks in transit tended to be barf inducing at 50 feet – this is why so many religions require a quick burial.

    1. “Christian burial was generally not available on reserves”

Wrong. Typically all burials on reserves were Christian burials. Almost all of them had churches. Most Indians were Christians.

Headstones have always been a family purchase as is transport of a body. The only thing free to poor people who can’t afford it is burial in the closest cemetery.

  23. I’ve been saying this for a long time. Residential Schools are just another example of a government boondoggle. It took place a long time ago, during a much different time, but it has all the hallmarks of the typical authoritarian, dictatorial government approach. But Brian still pulls his punches: He’s mouthing the platitudes of the left “part of the whole horrid system.” Oh, the government wouldn’t pay to ship the bodies, eh, well, isn’t that something. First of all, no government could take away my children. They’d have to kill me first. Secondly, if by some miracle they pried my children from my cold not dead hands, and shipped them off to a residential school, guess who’d be the owner of that tent pitched just outside of the residential school grounds. Imagine being a parent and never going to visit your kids or see how they were doing. Imagine just never hearing from them again and not going to investigate what happened. That’s the real travesty here. The government knew this.. it’s why they were taking the children away from these shitty communities in the first place.

  24. Your update is right, Candice Malcolm at True North gives a great six point summary of the facts. The graph she gives on causes of death are interesting. True North also has the former ambassador to China explain how Canada’s elites are using political violence.

  25. Lot of people, children included, died from lack of hand washing.

Louis Pasteur wasn’t born until 1822.

  26. Never underestimate how cheap the government is, when Ministers are are not concerned. One time the South Korean Chief of the Air Staff (4 star) came to Ottawa on his plane with a bunch of staff (after going to Europe) and his wife. While he went to visit a base with the Canadian Chief of the Air Staff, the Canadian CAS’ wife entertained the Korean CAS’ wife with a lunch and Ottawa visit. It’s called hospitality, part of being civilized and good hosts. While the government was willing to spring for the lunch, this did not include dessert. I shit you not. If you spend a good number of years in the military, you will learn how little the government thinks are needs instead of luxuries. People that let the government choose what they “need” are morons. Now, you don’t “need” a firearm. Pretty soon you won’t “need” a luxury car. Or a pick up truck, etc. You have no rights to property. So anyways, the government being too cheap for repatriating bodies or proper headstones? Totally in character.

    1. You don’t “need” blanks when doing some war games in the bush. Just say bang.

      1. Those of us who have worn the uniform understand you are not making a sardonic joke. Per ardua ad astra.

  27. Why didn’t they bury the native children in the native cemeteries and mark the graves there? /s

  28. Again as i have said repeatedly. The total blame is on the crooked and corrupt Canadian system headquartered in Ottawa. It was Ottawa and the Canadian PMs all of them and the MPs. Who created this whole mess. It was Ottawa who oversaw the churches, it was Ottawa who created and administered the Indian Act. It was totally and completely Ottawa and the corrupt Canadian system. Break it up. Take apart the Canadian Slave Ship board by board plank by plank. Canada is not a Democratic country, no matter what the Citizen wants, or how we vote nothing changes. Canada is like one huge Penal Colony and we are the inmates. We are not free men and women. Our reservation is bigger, but we are no less free. We have no say and can change none of it by voting. We are ruled over like serf’s. Not free men and women in a Democracy or a Republic. A Penal Colony were the inmates are taxed to pay the Jailers.

    1. PS: I left out the RCMP part in this story. They did the rounding up of the children, you know “Just Following Orders Comrade”

  29. Just because Lilley — and now, SDA followers — finally discovered the existence of the TRC Final Report and its documentation of the residential school graves for the first time this week doesn’t mean that it was suppressed knowledge. In fact, the TRC’s work is widely known and has been widely read among people who actually care about Indigenous issues in Canada.

    1. What “issues” might those be, Ted? Unwillingness to integrate into society in general because of all the freebies that would have to be given up? Epic-scale hypocrisy and revisionist history? Do tell.

  30. Does not seem to be well known among the media who have been telling us about the graves as though they have only recently become known. All of those places cancelling Canada Day seem to think this is a recent discovery. Funny the publicity around this has coincided with Canada Day, inviting anti- Canada demonstrations and the beheading and destruction of the historic Queen Victoria statue. The ” newly discovered” unmarked graves provided the excuse for these henous attacks on Canada, and our British heritage.

  31. CNN, NYT, CBS, USA Today, all the usual suspects referring to “mass graves” – a term that until now has ALWAYS previously been used for pits full of murder victims, e.g. the Killing Fields, Buchenwald, Babi Yar, etc.

These kids all died of TB and flu, and as we now know the graves, many obviously marked and maybe ALL marked until time and nature took their toll, have been known about for six years. The only thing that’s changed is that the western world is in the grip of degenerates who want to destroy it and rule over it as puppets to the Chicoms. Divide and rule, disempower anti-Marxists and empower people soft on or outright in love with Communism, and the deed is done. In any other period of history, our overlords would be dragged from their offices and strung up. Just saying…

    1. They’ve been trained by endless years of increasingly negative reportage to believe the bad. Bad SELLS, at least to people who never think for themselves. From the always-inspiring “The Zen of Zero F*cks Given”:

Ninety-nine percent of people are NPCs. They wake up every morning and look for someone to tell
      them what to think.

If you don’t know the acronym NPC, please look it up and prepare for the horrible shock of truth. 🙂
