Trudeau’s comments about the deal between the National Research Council and CanSino were brief but hopeful.
 
“If these vaccine trials are successful, we can produce and distribute it here at home,” he said at the time.
 
Three days later, the deal would start to unravel as the Chinese government blocked CanSino’s ability to export the material needed for Canada to take part in the clinical trials of the vaccine and to be a partner.
 
It turns out the Trudeau government didn’t have any further clinical trials and according to Procurement Minister Anita Anand, the government didn’t seek another partner to produce a vaccine in Canada until they were signing contracts in August and September of 2020.
 
By that time, it was too late. But according to Anand’s statements before the Commons Industry committee last Thursday, it was also something the government thought was impossible.

      THREE THINGS determine the spread of a virus, especially a respiratory virus, through a population:

      1) Demographics
      2) Population density
      3) Weather.

      Canada has an advantage in that it is relatively sparsely populated. Unfortunately cooler, dryer weather in the fall will cause a rise in infections, on about the middle of November, JUST LIKE IT DOES EVERY YEAR WITH THE FLU. Expect those numbers to start declining in about February. Oh look…!

      NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. Not hanks of cloth on your face, not the silly dance everyone is doing in the grocery store. Not shutting down small businesses and driving them into bankruptcy (actually that WILL matter when it comes time to pay for all the drunken-sailor spending the trudeau government has been engaging in).

        1. This seems like a totally futile and worthless effort. I don’t think we care about the spread of covid. A virus will spread despite people trying to prevent it from doing so. Surely, the concern is around serious illness requiring hospitalization and deaths. That is where the focus needs to be, not on locking down the population. Even if you can slow down a virus, it will be waiting for you whenever you emerge from hiding.

          1. With population of 160,000 and 23 active cases (im not sure of testing protocol) and 1 covid hospitalization they have us locked-down since Dec. 26 and aren’t opening up. Even the conscientious mask wearers are getting pissed off at Ford (that’s the Premier) and calling BS.

        And by the way, Shamrock, almost all the Covid-19 deaths have been in LTC settings, and almost none have been out in the community. Those of us questioning the effect of lockdowns do so because the people at risk from the virus are ALMOST ALL IN NURSING HOMES, they are not affected one way or the other by cancelling the rest of the economy.

        But they will be later, when the government stops paying for LTC completely and nobody working in the private sector has the money to look after Mom on their own.

      2. Shamrock – in a “normal” year, how many deaths are there in the LTC homes? I read that the average stay of a resident is about six months. And every year there have been reports of LTC homes being under lockdown because of some infection. Certainly this year’s death toll is tragic, but I do wonder how many of those who have died of the Wuhan flu would not have seen the year out anyway.

        1. All of the people who died were elderly as I am. most already had serious underlying medical conditions , one of which is advanced age. That folks is a medical condition that has only one outcome.

If you put so little time and effort into placing your vote that you made the illogical decision to vote for a loser like Trudy McBlackface, then you have the blood of dead Canadians on your hands. Even the most informed and intelligent leaders make mistakes, but this goes beyond simple mistakery. Trudeau stated that he would be appointing people based on diversity, not ability. Trudeau himself couldn’t even hold a job as a substitute drama teacher and clearly had no historical intelligence (or much of anything else). He openly on several occasions, stated his admiration for dictators and communism.

    If you voted for this empty head of hair and have any sort of self awareness then I truly hope the guilt rests heavy on your mind, otherwise you have no moral compass. Now is an opportunity for you to take the time and educate yourself. You should spend at least much time every day studying history as you do on twitter,tiktok or Facebook (I’m not on any myself, but I suspect most Trudy voters are). Voting is a right, AND a responsibility. Take it seriously or stay at home on election day and leave it to the adults.

    On a final note: to all the media pundits, “journalists” and word readers who have been cheerleaders of socialism and dictators; history will not look kindly on the deceptions you have foisted upon the electorate. You will be remembered as the cancer that ate away at liberty.

    1. The post-modern West has no guilt but shame. Guilt is the awareness that one did something or failed to do something one ought to have done. Such a feeling is generated from years of developing a moral compass and having consideration for others and basic morality.

    1. Exactly right.. It should ring alarm bells for everyone that they want to inoculate the whole world with a largely untested vaccine. It has already been acknowledged that they do not know the longer term affect of the vaccines, and amplifying future viruses is a particular concern. There have already been studies suggesting that the flu vaccine may increase a person’s susceptibility to Covid. This is very worrisome. I suspect that if things go wrong in the future and many people start dying from Covid, they will claim it is a “new strain”, rather than identifying the vaccine as a possible culprit. I detest the Trudeau government, but their messing up on getting a Covid vaccine in place in a timely fashion is not an issue for me.
      I also agree that it is not a “vaccine” — hence, those who are hesitating to get this injection should not be called “anti-vaxers”.

I have relatives in other countries, some of whom are quite old and may not be much longer for this world.  Yet I’m not willing to take any of the mRNA vaccines.  I want my government to stop pretending that we can “go back to normal” someday when enough people are vaccinated.  That day may never come for a variety of technical and non-technical reasons.  It’s time we learned to live with the existence of this virus, just like every other virus we haven’t been able to stomp out (i.e., the vast majority of known virii), and get back to the great game we call civilisation.  That includes travel.

  16. Had a client who was able to produce hand sanitizer when there was a big panic for it and they ended up selling all of it to a retailer and US governments cause the governments in Canada were all so slow they couldn’t get a deal done.

    Anyone who deals with Canadian government could have told you this was coming a mile away.

    1. Three reasons:
      1. It can be deadly if you are elderly, in particular for elderly folks with other conditions, so getting these people vaccinated will save lives.
      2. It will help populations achieve herd immunity faster, which is objectively good no matter the severity of the virus.
      3. It will allow politicians and public health authorities – who are trapped in an endless cycle of lockdowns as a result of their own incompetence – to declare victory and re-open things fully. We have to take the world as it is and vaccines are essential to forcing change in the current regimes.
      Ultimately, voters will decide later who to hold to account but right now vaccines are the only universal solution to where are idiotic political class has led us.

  20. According to my information —in 2017 Premier Scott Moe contacted the Trudeau liberals about building a Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at the University of Saskatchewan. The U.of S. has world famous labs doing research in all areas especially Virology !!

    This would have provided a vaccine manufacturing facility in Canada before Covid 19 hit!!! Out of the money given for research most recently went to Quebec!

No info about what they actually said– but just the claim that they contained “misinformation. ” So some councillor is taking it on himself to distribute the official government propaganda.
