Blog Notes

The server that SDA is hosted on continues to be compromised by load problems, so I’m in discussion with the support people about an upgrade. Not sure of a timeline on this, or if there will be any significant downtime, but if the site continues to be erratic please be patient — we’re working on it.

As an aside, I’m now on Gab.com as @Katewerk, so if anything disastrous or permanent does occur, that’s where I’ll post news. (Gab is still struggling to cope with the massive influx of new accounts and traffic, so access is slow and sporadic.)

    1. For the past two mornings … I haven’t been able to open SDA. Glad to hear it isn’t big tech censoring the smartest, most reasonable, people in the ‘room’ (with a few regular exceptions).

  1. Oh good. Thanks for the update. Because after posting a comment in a thread a while ago I couldn’t see the site, “taking too long to reload…” and these days, every time that happens we’ll be wondering if you have been shut down by the thought police.

  2. I was concerned, based on this blog’s popularity and other events, that Big Tech was further on the rampage. Glad to hear it’s just technical.

  3. Good to hear that it’s your popularity and growth that are slowing things down, and not enemy action by those who would throttle your message.

    1. Ironically, it may be popularity and growth that leads to the message eventually being throttled. Turdo blathering about new censorship rules have blogs like SDA in the crosshairs. As in the US, plenty of Canadian urinalists jumping on the censorship bandwagon…WTF kind of journalist speaks in favour of censorship? We’re done. Try and enjoy the show while you can, once the guns are gone the real fun begins. I had often wondered if law enforcement would turn on their fellow citizens. Their behaviour during the lockdowns has shown they are likely to be more than happy to.

      1. Indeed, it may very well be that in the near future, SOP for conservative websites, will be hosted overseas in more tolerant countries, and then using a VPN, where you can be located in another country, to view SDA in Canuckistanov.
Trugroper may go all Facebook, and ban all websites that don’t praise Dear Leader, like his idols in China do.

    2. No, more mundane than that, and not related to the site content at all. Data scrapers keep attacking the servers. It’s not personal and it’s not censorship driven.

      1. As I said, glad to hear it. And thanks for continuing to invite us into your (virtual) home.

  4. Every time I see “site cannot be reached” on my web browser, I hold my breath, wondering if ” is this it? Has Kate gone down for the last time?”

    1. Kate.
      You are awesome.
Only woman in the world that could get me to browse a *Gab* website.

Some addictions are much better than Opioids. /sac

    1. No links embedded in their story, some nice claims of “investigators think” and “CNN admits” with nothing to back it up. It reads more like a pipe dream to me than a news story.

      1. Dave Rubin has a few bits on definite BLM and CNN interference (suspect planning) for the disturbance at the Capital.
Also Mike Cernovich and Jack Prosobiec.

  5. Kate: would you be considering Locals.com as an option? Assuming it doesn’t get de-platformed too. I already subscribe to Scott Adams there, and would consider $5/mo to support you would be worth it to me.

    1. I’m a big fan of locals. The tone of the posts is much more, shall we say, subdued. I think the small subscription price is a barrier to shitposting (you know like I’m prone to do). I would join your community.

Speaking of such posts, here is a mask my young son showed me. I’m going to buy one and constantly say; “Luke I am your father.”

I’m serious;. “Do you want the COOP bags?” To which I reply, “Luke I am your father.”. Maybe the mask flashes green.

I think maybe even BA can get behind a gamer mask.

  6. I was a little nervous when your site wouldn’t load this morning….you know, big tech and all….

  7. AS an old timer said, “Back when the internet was fun”. I’ll find another 20 Ruptured Loonies for you.

  8. Doesn’t this feel like the end of episode 1 of Battlestar Galactica when the last Battlestar leads a ragtag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest…for a shining planet known as Earth except it’s Embattled Host Gab “alt-tech” media leading a column of conservative blogs and commenters on their lonely quest of preserving freedom, liberty and fairness. Actually now that think about it Nancy kinda does remind me of the Cylon Imperious Leader: http://cylonempire.com/imperiousLeader.html
