  1. If not for the new US Supreme Court Justices, the Democrats lockdown of everyone is starting to unravel.
The Democrats truly hate the US Constitution as it get in the way of many policies, laws and restrictions that they want to impose.
Imposing restrictions on religion was a big no-no that they said the States don’t have power over.

  2. At some point an amendment might be required to identify Islam as a political ideology rather than religious

  3. Yes, who in their wildest dreams would actually contemplate praying for your family and friends in the midst of a pandemic?

Just when you need some uplifting; some governmental doofus decides it offends governmental sensibilities to attend church and synagogue.

But stripper lounges, bars, liquor stores and other fine sin establishments are “Virus Proof”!??!

Delightful, but I think the Second Coming of Jesus Himself would happen before that took place in Canada.
Gyorgy Schwartz aka George Soros must be gnashing his teeth with his Lockdown Society ideas…

  4. I agree with the ruling, but it’s a stretch to claim that the conservative SCOTUS majority is saving America from the tyrannies of Democrat-imposed lockdowns. In fact, it’s clear from the written opinions that the Court fully recognizes (1) the legitimacy of COVID-19 as a genuine threat to public health, and (2) the authority of government to impose restrictions on businesses, organizations, and individuals as it deems necessary in the name of public health and safety.

Here’s Justice Gorsuch, in his concurrence: “Government is not free to disregard the First Amendment in times of crisis…the pandemic poses many grave challenges…”

Here’s Justice Kavanaugh, in his concurrence: “To be clear, the COVID–19 pandemic remains extraordinarily serious and deadly. And at least until vaccines are readily available, the situation may get worse in many parts of the United States. The Constitution “principally entrusts the safety and the health of the people to the politically accountable officials of the States.”…In light of the devastating pandemic, I do not doubt the State’s authority to impose tailored restrictions—even very strict restrictions—on attendance at religious services and secular gatherings alike.

And here are excerpts from the per curiam decision: “Stemming the spread of COVID–19 is unquestionably a compelling interest“…”there are many other less restrictive rules that could be adopted to minimize the risk to those attending religious services.”

This ruling is both a defence of the First Amendment specifically, and also indirectly a validation of government-imposed lockdown measures.

  5. Is it just me or is the timing of the SCOTUS decision, happening at Thanksgiving, more than just coincidental?

    1. Some people are taking umbrage at your posts, whoever you are, but I notice that the real UnMe seems to be taking a leave of absence since you showed up. Guess s/he doesn’t have the imagination to just think up a new pseudonym. So thank you. 🙂

  6. Courts have worked hard at destroying freedom in America and Canada the unelected and appointed judges are as dangerous as your favourite commie un-me.

    1. The current problem is that the media is so corrupted, where do you find the truth to what is currently happening with this Pandemic. Any politician and doctor can be bought off to push a minor disease to look like the Ebola is the disease floating around right now.
Not having good viable intelligence just corrupted the courts opinions as well.

  7. I was reading George Washington’s proclamation of thanksgiving issued Nov 26, 1789 — in today’s society, he would be driven out of politics altogether as a raging theocrat. He said that the United States would only prosper in future times if its government relied on the word of God and the Bible. One can rather easily see that he made a sound prophecy there.

  8. A good ruling. Too bad SCrOTUS forgot the 1A when it didn’t strike down the Muslim travel ban.

Gorsuch’s concurrence is silly. He’s looking more and more like a mistake.

  9. Read the decision carefully. It is *very* limited in scope, and does nothing to address the many gubernatorial, mayoral, and other “proclamations” that have restricted worship.

Many areas of NYC are still under orders which effectively close churches – a parish church seating 3,000 is limited to 25 attendees.

What was needed was a broad statement clearly identifying that the restrictions placed on churches can be no stricter or more onerous than those place on any other venue. WalMart isn’t limited to 25 customers; Target can open it’s doors to however many people desired, as long as they’re all 6 feet apart. Liquor stores, gyms, etc….. They’re unlimited in capacity. Only churches have been singled out.

This is a nice ruling, but it is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the overall problem.
