Dr. Theresa Tam is in way over her head. Everyone with even a modicum of objectivity knows it but few have been willing to say it for fear of reflexively getting a called a racist and misogynist. But Alberta Premier Jason Kenney has clearly had enough, as has the Calgary Herald’s Licia Corbella:

We all know what these delays have cost us — more than 1,055 Canadians have died, many more will do so in the weeks to come, our economy has almost completely shut down, children are out of school, people have lost their jobs, others will lose their businesses and homes, public debt that will saddle future generations for decades has ballooned and our inability to visit with loved ones, even when they are on their death beds, is what we all face because Dr. Tam and the WHO failed to act quickly and appropriately on the known evidence.

As Premier Kenney properly suggested, Dr. Tam’s job is not to swallow the propaganda of totalitarian states obsessed with saving face, but to investigate all of the pertinent information and then recommend policy to protect Canadians.

    1. I have a little personal theory … that AA hiring … esp. in government has HURT our society significantly … in the area of $$ hundreds of billions of dollars. Is that a “racist” statement? Absolutely NOT. It is a “meritist” statement. How can I PROVE I did not make a “racist” statement by HATING … all … AA programs. Because if one were to JUST look at academic achievement … then a huge number of critical positions would be filled by Asians and Jews … based on their MERIT.

      However! … just because Ms. Tam is some kind of “Asian” … doesn’t grant her automatic merit. She appears to be an underachieving Asian in all arenas except her social promotion within the government bureaucracy. And pardon me, women of SDA … but she is a two-fer … Asian and female. This virtually guarantees her a TOP position anywhere in government. And since she appears to be a Communist sympathizer … that’s a three-fer in the PM SocksinPussy Admin.

      1. kenji, as an employer I always thought that merit was something that was achieved by performance. I have hired many people who’s qualifications on paper were less than those of others interviewed and they proved to be excellent employees.

    1. Dr.Teresa Tam is far too well educated to make the horrendous mistakes she has made. Logically, she must be beholden to China given her adamant support for them. Perhaps she is merely racist and won’t hear any criticism of the Mother Country, but I have a suspicion much more is at play here.

      Tam is probably as much in China’s pocket as the WHO’s chief propagandist,Dr. Tederos Adhanom. Perhaps, as the old movie cliche goes, “we know you have relatives in the Old Country”.

      I read Dr.Peter’s book many years ago, saw him interviewed on the Jack Webster show, very interesting. At the time I was a member of the civil service, so delighted in his description of the bureaucrats who fit his theory, as many in my department epitomized Dr. Peter’s principle. The Civil service is rife with these types as promotion depends far more on being a good team player than on any other virtue or ability.

  10. Those with delusions of adequacy are real dangerous when the crisis comes.
    Pandemic,being one of the classic four dooms that threaten civilization,should be fairly striaght forward to plan for.
    A certain amount of regional overcapacity in hospitals,stockpiles of the rarely used but vital in the pinch equipment and trained personnel…not resume padding stuff,no great room for signalling your virtue and not real useful for building a bigger bureaucracy.
    So very hard to keep properly funded and organized.
    So it seems planning for emergency cannot be entrusted to our bureaucrats.

    1. Merit is a process of right sizing and because it threatens to cut head count or budget is considered an existential threat by the bureaucracy.

So , looks are a large element in the psychological construct of a personality. So your post simply displays your lack of understanding of basic social effects, on social psychology. Also back 60-70 years ago it was the USA communist party that embraced mixed marriages, and this greatly influenced how Blacks voted, and made it easy for the dimoKKKraps to con blacks into voting for them. So yes, “looks” is a strong indicator as to character, as ugly ducklings are usually out casts that are ostracized in society, especially in their youth , and good looks bring popularity, and social acceptance.

  13. The Peter Principle thrives in government administration due to the big motivation in the bureaucracy to grow head count and budget.
    When you get more of this, the herd mentality is insurance against anyone questioning if the head count or budget is justified.
    It also ingrains in the herd mentality that any identifiable group that believes in right sizing government is an existential threat.
    This extends to anyone that is a benefactor of government largess, (aka CBC).

  23. Incompetence is hard to measure when it comes to Trudeau and Tam, they are supposed to look after the interests of the Canadian people, but they do not, so by that measure they are completely incompetent.

Good on Kenney for having the gonads and the common sense to forge ahead with testing without waiting for the Health Canada bureaucrats to get off their collective asses and give their stamp of approval. There has been way too much buggering around as paper-pushing “experts” sit with their thumbs in their anal orifices hoping someone will come up with a solution while useless politicians give out daily doses of encouragement, and not much of anything else, to the masses.   34. Having worked in the federal government, I can tell you that the “employment equity” ideology guides numerous appointments and merit takes a back seat. In order to justify this, the view is that as long as someone has the qualifications they can do the job sufficiently. No distinction should be made based on experience or achievement, what is important is diversity. Jordan Peterson used to point out how Justin’s analysis in choosing his cabinet came down to having a balance in gender. Thus we have a graphic designer in charge of our healthcare crisis.
