The photos are amazing, the cars were, well CARS, back then. My mother was born in 1924. A rarity….my mom’s family could afford cars and cameras. Took a lot of photos of those times.
The wealthy era post the Great War into the 1920s were days when people came into their own, especially the women, as the photos show.
In the many photos included in my link above, there was one that had Henry Ford and Thomas Edison pictured together. The story behind that was that in the late teens and into the early 1920s industrialists Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone and John Burroughs used to go on “camping” trips with a grand entourage. They called themselves the Vagabonds. Their annual gatherings were to enjoy the outdoors as a sort of vacation, see the countryside and exchange ideas. They had some popular invitees join them including President Harding. See them in the enclosed link doing some horseback riding.
These guys were ahead of their time. Those seemed to be the good old days!

The article is mostly about a guilty Disney child who thinks she (and other millionaires) have too much money. But some of the sentences in the article say a lot about the writer’s feelings. Like this…

When I first read that sentence I interpreted the election of Trump as a reaction to corruption. But upon continuing through the article it is clear the author feels that Trump’s election was a result of corruption as was the election of other “right-wing” leaders across the world. This is because I believe the recent election of right-wing leaders is a reaction to the ongoing corruption in politics that has been plaguing democracies for years. But now I realize that a large group of people feel corruption is just getting underway.

I used to occasionally watch a certain show that featured a billionaire and one episode was about how this person had a mega garage sale and the proceeds went to charity. The many acres of lawn at one of their homes was covered with dated stuff and some things were in duplicate and triplicate. It was amazing to see such a large operation. They had to hire a large team of people just to pull this off.
They honestly believe that they are doing good deeds. Most of their staff probably just rips them off at every chance they get or they wait for cast offs and hand-me-downs. They probably sell the stuff for a premium because of who it used to belong to. Usually the ‘help’ are very rich in their own right. Examples of the latter were the people who worked for heiress Doris Duke (Duke University and Tobacco heiress) also Betty Hutton (Woolworth’s heiress, one wife of actor Cary Grant. People used to call them “Cash n Carry”) they used to give away their cast off diamond jewellery etc. These lonely people often craved attention.

The article is mostly about a guilty Disney child who thinks she (and other millionaires) have too much money. But some of the sentences in the article say a lot about the writer’s feelings. Like this…
“Some of them [the guilty millionaires who inherited their money] feel that severe inequality fuels corruption and has led to the election of Trump and other right-wing leaders across the world.”
When I first read that sentence I interpreted the election of Trump as a reaction to corruption. But upon continuing through the article it is clear the author feels that Trump’s election was a result of corruption as was the election of other “right-wing” leaders across the world. This is because I believe the recent election of right-wing leaders is a reaction to the ongoing corruption in politics that has been plaguing democracies for years. But now I realize that a large group of people feel corruption is just getting underway.
“Many of them [the sniveling guilt-ridden millionaires who won’t give up their money but will join a group of like-minded snivelers] believe that inaction on inequality could lead to the kinds of violent street protests recently seen in countries like Chile.”
It seems to me that these millionaires have nothing to do. They call themselves writers or photographers but aren’t they really just flying around spending daddy’s money?
Do the ultra-wealthy really want to pay more taxes? Turns out that only 3% of billionaires have bothered to sign on for higher taxes. The other 97% haven’t budged. If this was climate science we would call it a consensus.
Reminds me of this article, where George Soros has signed a letter to pay more taxes…

Don’t listen to what they say. Pay attention to what they do.
Those billionaires believe that they pay high taxes through the people who they hire who pay taxes and through the mega bucks that they spend on things that they don’t need.
I used to occasionally watch a certain show that featured a billionaire and one episode was about how this person had a mega garage sale and the proceeds went to charity. The many acres of lawn at one of their homes was covered with dated stuff and some things were in duplicate and triplicate. It was amazing to see such a large operation. They had to hire a large team of people just to pull this off.
They honestly believe that they are doing good deeds. Most of their staff probably just rips them off at every chance they get or they wait for cast offs and hand-me-downs. They probably sell the stuff for a premium because of who it used to belong to. Usually the ‘help’ are very rich in their own right. Examples of the latter were the people who worked for heiress Doris Duke (Duke University and Tobacco heiress) also Betty Hutton (Woolworth’s heiress, one wife of actor Cary Grant. People used to call them “Cash n Carry”) they used to give away their cast off diamond jewellery etc. These lonely people often craved attention.
