They’re not even trying to hide it anymore. They want us dead.

Would Human Extinction Be a Tragedy?

There are stirrings of discussion these days in philosophical circles about the prospect of human extinction. This should not be surprising, given the increasingly threatening predations of climate change. In reflecting on this question, I want to suggest an answer to a single question, one that hardly covers the whole philosophical territory but is an important aspect of it. Would human extinction be a tragedy?

I’m not asking whether the experience of humans coming to an end would be a bad thing. […] I am also not asking whether human beings as a species deserve to die out. That is an important question, but would involve different considerations. Those questions, and others like them, need to be addressed if we are to come to a full moral assessment of the prospect of our demise. Yet what I am asking here is simply whether it would be a tragedy if the planet no longer contained human beings. And the answer I am going to give might seem puzzling at first. I want to suggest, at least tentatively, both that it would be a tragedy and that it might just be a good thing.

Let’s begin with the extinction of the New York Times and then pause to assess if the world is a better place for it. It’s behind a paywall, so you can begin the process by hitting the ‘esc’ key as it loads and read the vile, silly thing and not pay them for it.

  1. Why else are there TV programs speculating about what life would be like here after humans become extinct? Are the producers of those series trying to tell us something?

  2. One might ask here whether, given this view, it would also be a good thing for those of us who are currently here to end our lives in order to prevent further animal suffering

This is what has replaced God for the atheists … humans who place a higher value on animals than mankind. So high that they are willing to take their own lives… in order to … “save animals from suffering” … by starving themselves of all animal products. My advice? Go ahead, I rarely get between mental patients and their delusions. Kill yourself. But leave me out of it, eh PETA whack job!?

    1. ” humans who place a higher value on animals than mankind. So high that they are willing to take their own lives…”

      Not at all.
      a) They do not place a higher value on animals
      b) They aren’t willing to take their own life…
They place animals ahead of you, not themselves. They are willing to kill you, not themselves.
The Elites are just ginning up justification to kill you.
If they cared about animals they wouldn’t be killing them with wind farms and solar farms or destroying animal habitat to grow corn for ethanol.

The Elites don’t need us anymore. Most of us are here to help and serve each other.
The Elites just see us as using up THEIR Earth and THEIR Earth’s resources.

The Elites have robots and cloning and have mapped the Human Genome. They see us as redundant. Unnecessary.
Think about that when you get your annual Flu shot. One year soon that Flu shot is going to be a HOTSHOT and you and yours will be lining up to pay for the shot that kills you and puts you out the Elite’s misery.
The Elite and their chosen First Responders will get vaccinated, and the rest of us will get an express ticket to the mass grave.

        1. And what is Butts’ share? Much more than three times our fair share.
Turdeau’s share – ha ha ha
David Suzuki – does he still have 4 houses?
Al Gore – didn’t we hear that heating his swimming pool uses more resources than the average American uses fr=or heating their house?
Leo diCaprio – how many houses? or private jets, big yachts, etc. So lets guess he uses 5 or 10 times?

Obviously some are more equal than others.

      1. Oz, well said. Even as we post ideas on this thread, the big information-technology companies are working furiously to develop fully fledged, self-aware robots — the type that will extinguish the human race. So there’s lots of momentum, from the various elites, to do us in. Populism ought to work to combat the elites’ death wish.

P.S. To make these posts, we all have to check the “I am not a robot” box. How ironic.

    2. “This is what has replaced God for the atheists”. Let me correct that for you. This is what has replaced God for the pantheists. This guy, an obvious peddler of nihilism is totally ignorant of nature. With little to no understanding of it he worships his mistaken image of it from his urban tomb.

“On this planet, you have only two options to survive, you can conquer nature or you can conquer people who conquer nature.” – Ayn Rand

This asshole is so far up the food chain of those who conquer people who conquer people etc that he has no vision of the nature of life on the planet.

      1. “Urban tomb”

Indeed. The Urban Utopia envisioned by none other than the “greatest Architect who ever lived” Frank Lloyd Wright … would be a hellish contraption meant to entomb Billions of people. We must NEVER allow that HIVE to govern our futures.

    3. “This is what has replaced God for the atheists… ”

      A sweeping generalisation.
As there is no requirement for a “God”, I have no need for a replacement.

  3. NYT Affluenza…the struggle is real. For the rest of humanity, rich people nihilism is tedious and pretentious. About 1% of the human population gives a rat’s ass about their inane sophistry. Babbling toddlers are more interesting

    1. Indeed, nihilism on stilts. They are getting a warm fuzzy from imagining the death of all mankind. Wow!

      1. The last people to take seriously are bitter, malcontents. In what other part of life would you take advice from the most neurotic, depressed person you know. They’ve generally got the emotional and intellectual depth of a coffee saucer and made terrible life decisions. You’d find success doing the exact opppsite of what they do and say.

  4. Human beings would be brutally tough to kill off.

Even before the rise of civilizations, mankind had established itself in every continent save Antarctica and in every environment imaginable: jungle, woodlands, plains, alpine, taiga, arctic, temperate, tropical, swamp, archipelago, you name it. There is no other major land species that was so widespread.

This suggests that mankind is remarkably resilient and adaptable.

  5. The New York Times is one of the better designed paywalls. You have to hit the “Esc” key at JUST the right time. It usually takes a bunch of tries.

  6. ” – Well of COURSE we want you dead! The quasi-extinction of humanity would do WONDERS for all of Gaia’s beleaguered animals, and would STOP global warming – and we DO hope you understand, by ‘quasi’ we mean YOUR extinction, not OURS.”

“After all, it’s only fair – WE are so much SMARTER than you…”

    – Or as the Sheriff of Birmingham told Martin Luther King, “It’s a question of mind over matter; I don’t mind, and you don’t matter!”

    – Oh and: the only way “THEY” are gonna’ pull this off is by a MAD-type nuclear exchange – which would kill everything else, and visit terminal global warming on Mother Earth. ‘Cause “WE” ain’t gonna’ go peacefully.

  7. Humans breed. The upper crust blames the parts for the sum yet benefit the most. Totalitarianism will solve this matter with an iron fist. The plutocrats will cue up culls in a variety of ways.

    1. – Just as they always did. Kate’s former headline said it all: “On the extreme Right stand the Founding Fathers. On the extreme Left lie 100 million dead people.”

  8. This is one result of the “God is dead” movement. After all, we read in Genesis:

“And God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness.'”

Once God has been killed off, there’s no point in keeping someone modelled after Him around, is there?

    1. True, and it’s only one of the many negative consequences of turning away from God; e.g. the inability to see that a baby growing and developing in the womb is a living person; inability to see that homosexuality is unnatural given the complementary physical design of humans; inability to see that there are only two genders in spite of a very small percentage of unfortunate birth defects.

These are only a few of the manias spreading through our culture now that so many are beginning to celebrate the “death of God.”

  9. ‘hit the escape key’
    LOL !!!

ah jeez Kate, brings back memories of logging off the old PDP-10,
hit ‘control enter’ to duplicate the ‘return key’ then, especially when pa was really busy, hold the
‘control’ key and immediately pound the ‘c’ which HALTS the logout process before it can ding your account for the processor time etc.
ah man I love this place. brings back memories of a much saner world.

  10. see how that works?
first step, some obscure whacko pipes up on in an obscure publication.
then more whackos offer up intricate and complex justifications.
soon enough it reaches the msm.
josef goebbels was a brilliant and equally evil pioneer in propaganda.
to him it was to be embraced, had no inhibitions use the word either.

  11. Eugenics never died.
Sure they pulled heir horns in,so as to avoid being associated with their success in influencing the leaders of Germany,1936 to 1945…
But that pervasive snobbery of “We the elite” never went away.
Our progressive comrades live and breathe this madness,so much so they cannot see their own racism in their “Low expectations” of native and coloured persons.
As in :”We cannot expect any of these lesser persons(insert favoured minority of the day) to perform the same duties of any other citizen, because race/historic harm…..
Of course in the next breath;”All men are equal”.

  12. My concern is that many of the posts display an almost total ignorance of the environments of pre-history., making reference to a “Pristine Environment” which existed before Mankind arrived on the scene and spoiled it.

Nothing that Mankind has “inflicted” on the planet matches the mass extinctions brought about by Nature prior to this, which will continue to be inflicted in the coming Eras.

  13. The underlying motive behind all of this has nothing to do with the environment or “saving the planet”.

The elitists, particularly those on the left, do no believe in the common people having the right to determine how their lives and, possibly, what their futures might be. Those elitists have always believed they knew what was best for us, believe that they know what’s best for us, and will always know what’s best for us.

That may be one reason why communism and Islam have been favoured by the elite. Those are doctrines which put that concept into practice. The lord of the manner decrees and the duty of the serf is to obey, doing so without question.

  14. They don’t want us all dead. Not yet. Just the ones with the wits and creativity to be a meaningful threat to their dominion.

After the extermination of the Caucasoids, the Mongoloids will be kept around to oversee Negroid slaves until robots can do anything a Negroid can do. At that point the Negroids will be exterminated.

Eventually, once robots can manage robots, the Mongoloids will be exterminated too, leaving the roughly 50,000 Caucasoid/Mongoloid mongrel heirs and successors of the globalist elite to inherit the earth.
