Pardon For Oregon Ranchers

President Donald Trump granted executive clemency on Tuesday to multi-generation cattle ranchers Dwight Lincoln Hammond Jr. and son, Steven Hammond.

“The Hammonds are multi-generation cattle ranchers in Oregon imprisoned in connection with a fire that leaked onto a small portion of neighboring public grazing land,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement issued Tuesday on the full pardon of the Hammonds. “The evidence at trial regarding the Hammonds’ responsibility for the fire was conflicting, and the jury acquitted them on most of the charges.”

Sanders recounted the series of events that left the 76-year-old and 46-year-old Hammond father and son sentenced to five years each in prison after an “overzealous appeal” under the Obama administration.

Excellent news.

  1. So the Obama-Nation™ were bigoted against meatatarians…
I imagine the Hammond family will be celebrating with a few hefty tenderloin steaks on the BBQ.

  2. Good.

Thank God for a US president who is prepared to free political prisoners and get on with putting away or deporting actual criminals.

The best is yet to come. With a conservative majority SCOTUS and Roe v. Wade overturned, it will be possible to enact a federal law to protect the unborn, and start hauling abortionists and the women they help murder their own children to federal prison.

It’s the beginning of the end of rule by lawyers, and the beginning of the return of rule of law.

    1. Repealing RvW is a great way to ensure that the Dems control every political body in America outside of Alabama and Missouri.

      1. Lol, freedom to kill at will is not freedom. It is a mental disorder based in selfishness, fear and anger.

Your Prog delusion is melting away under the blazing sun of righteousness and truth. Feel the burn!!!

          1. Yes no “people”, usually singular as in “person”, you are killing a person in the womb. Sometimes people, as in twins, etc., still killing a person/people.

      2. Not repealing it is a great way to ensure the United States falls into the hands of savages within a generation.

American “feminists” cheerfully abort till they conceive a girl, they hate men so much.

Meanwhile, their Muslim sisters have five future suicide bombers each, because their husbands order them on pain of death to give them as many sons as Allah will give them that can wage jihad against the infidel, and win—and only sons, because women are useless in real warfare.

How do you think that will end?

        1. It ends with you screaming gibberish and smearing paint all over your naked body if you’re not there already.

          1. No he isn’t. He’s a lunatic, as is anyone who seriously thinks Muslims are coming to take over Canada.

      1. You are referring to Obama and his low-life henchmen, right Ed? The BLM was the instigator in this mess and anyone who does not know that is willfully blind!

      2. Well unfortunately Husein Ogabe al-Chicago, Reichsführer Holder, Hitlery and the rest of their criminal organization are still at large.

  3. It’s an object lesson as to why mandatory minimum sentences are usually a bad idea.

  4. These two fellas are not exactly saints. According to the trial documents they lit fires at night near an area were firefighters were camped out.

In 2006, there were numerous “dry” lightning fires in the Frenchglen area of Harney County and a burn ban was in effect. Nevertheless, knowing BLM firefighter crews were in the area, without notice or permission, Steven Hammond ignited several fires that spread onto BLM land. The fires were spotted by BLM firefighters camped nearby.

  5. Excellent outcome. Undoing some of the harm caused by Hussein Ogabe al-Chicago and his junta who relentlessly weaponized the government against citizenry.

  6. Haven’t heard much from Harry Reid’s BLM ..9th circuit sloths with snipers….Both Eyes open Harry!

  7. migawd migawd migawd. I dont even have to read the friggin link.

(and to think he is good for a 2nd term)

  8. I’m not sympathetic to the ranchers at all. I love cattle and ranching but these guys are a bad bunch.

    1. When it comes down to who to believe, ranchers or Democratics, I think you know my answer.

    1. Good for them. Unfortunately the Ogabe enforcers then murdered LaVoy Finicum and lied about it on the record. .

      1. The prosecution of the Hammonds for lighting backburns, and the assassination of LaVoy Finicum mark the pinnacle of BLM, and weaponized government overreach.

        1. That, Fast and Furious, seeking IRS on the political opposition etc, it is hard to talk of a pinnacle when it comes to the consistently criminal behavior of Ogabe and Reichsführer Holder.

  9. This is sure to further upset the Eco-Wackos from The Sierra Club,Greenpeace, NRDC,EDF,Friends of the Earth and other Green Freaks with stupid names

    1. If true, that shows how scientifically illiterate they are. These areas need to burn to rejuvenate.

  10. Check out Wiki’s ‘Hammond arson case’.

These guys should be in the bucket for the rest of their lives.

Thousands of ranchers run cattle on state/federal land. They pay their fees and cause no trouble. The Hammonds/Bundys arn’t hero’s. They are criminals.
I’m no fan of big government. Obama had this wrong and so does Trump.

    1. ” The Hammonds/Bundys arn’t hero’s. They are criminals.”

Do they fit the definition of domestic terrorists? If so, will the government employ the AUMF granted during the WoT?

‘Another 2015 study, this time conducted in America by the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security, found after interviewing 328 law enforcement agencies that 73.8 percent stated that far-right violence was the number one threat in their jurisdiction.’

      1. So government agencies at the end of Ogabe era gave politically correct answers? Shocking I tell ya.

Well to be fair most of them answered truthfully. They hate the right and really don’t mind if another mooselimb bombs another place or drives another van into another crowd.

  11. Judging by the fatalities, the government and BLM are the are larger terrorist threat.

  12. Clinton and Obama granted pardons to Crinimal’s and Terrorists Trump grants pardons to those who need them

  13. Bullshit?

There are 3 sides to every story. As I stated above both administrations got this wrong.

Many ranches in the US operate on the basis that allow grazing on State/Federal land. The ranch deeded land might typically consist of the home place plus any source of water. So the ranch may be a 100,000 acres or more but 95% is deeded grazing lease. There are rules to follow on leased land. The overwhelming majority of ranches comply with the rules. Sure they bitch about them and there are running arguments with the governments over things the bureaucrats do but seldom are death threats issued. Ranchers feel entitled too.
I’m not a fan of government or bureaucrats. I’m a libertarian. I have ranch friends in the US who operate under the same system as the Hammonds/Bundys. They find some way to get along with the ‘county men’ state and federal officials. The problems usually arise when drought conditions present themselves.
Oh, and the carp invasion of the lake is a red herring no pun intended. Invasive species persist everywhere and the carp contamination was not the fault of the bureaucrats or ranchers. They were probably introduced into some water course by some well meaning citizen and escaped downstream.

We have the same thing here in the west. Carp destroyed one of the finest waterfowl habitats in Manitoba, Delta Marsh. It is being restored now but they are also in the Rafferty/Alameda system.
And one more thing the article refers to the drainage of ‘marsh land’. Take a look at how farming practices (not ranching) allow for the draining of land and then go and observe the mess farmers upstream of the Quill Lakes made for their fellow farmers downstream when they drained water from land they own. Much of the drainage was/is illegal.

The Hammonds/Bundys chose not to follow the rules. They wouldn’t pay their lease fees. Their egos and beliefs are inconsistent with the modern world and they went spinning out of control not unlike Kazinski the Freeman and others. The ranch community has sympathy for them as ranchers and human beings but few would ever consider engaging in the foolish tactics they employeed.
