I would call Trump’s manner of delivery authentic. Such a contrast to the always tentative Trudeau who simply lacks authenticity.
CNN’s poll had significant numbers responding quite positively to the speech. It was a winner.

I laughed at Pelosi. She sat there determined to appear angry, and was especially so when Trump toosed his immigration compromise her way. The Dem response to that segment spoke volumes. They want open borders and easy citizenship for illegals.
There were a couple of times where The Donald gestured toward the Democrat side, illustrating a point by indicating Democrat intransigence and ideological inflexibility was a problem. They scowled in return. Guiterrez running out in tears was childish.
Essentially, Trump put the Dems on notice. He again framed the discussion in terms of America First, and put the Dems on their back foot. Their positions, if going against the Trump agenda, will be easily portrayed as against the interests of America and Americans. Well played.
I suspect Nancy’s lemon-sucking scowl will be a meme by breakfast.

The encouraging but easily missed quote of the night (totally unmentioned by the MSM) happened as President Trump was walking up the aisle to leave after his speech. As Trump shook hands with Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC) the Congressman said to the President: “Let’s release the memo.” Trump replied while giving a clear nod, “Oh yeah …100%”

Has any president during the SOTU reported 1500 people fired from a single federal department, then instruct all other federal departments to follow suit? Wow. And the b!tch slap he gave the NFL kneelers was a thing of beauty. There were some big failings during the SOTU though. For example, Trump never once showed us his socks. How are the people supposed to know what special interest group he’s pandering to, are they supposed to just guess?
