As we all know, a Canadian Journalist’s main job is to smooth over any rough spots and shush away worries as the Liberal government plunders the public purse to pay for technocratic solutions to problems we didn’t know we had while adopting a laissez-faire attitude to the problems we do have. If the Opposition has a point, it falls to a Canadian Journalist to correct the record and say that, well, actually, no they don’t.
Few journalists do this better, or more subtly, than Aaron Wherry, “senior writer” for the CBC.

The Ottawa press corp is made up of 300+ journos who really bring little to the game. Their very existence is dependent upon their relationship to government. They need an inside tip here and there so they can show the boss they have the right connections that may lead to a scoop.
Sooo, how do they get to the place where a EA, deputy minister or heaven forbid a cabinet minister even talks to them? Invitations to the ‘right’ parties, foreign travel with a cab minister to someplace warm in the winter (only if you’ve been a good boy/gurl/other) and your boss agrees to the travel expense – hoping for the scoop. Then there is the ultimate reward. Employment within the librano machine itself. A press operative in the PMO, appointment to the Senate or you play it right and you might become GG.

Aaron Wherry is the most useless of a bunch of useless journalists but there are quite a few at CBC including Eric Grenier and Don Pittis. I occasionally read their articles just to amaze myself at how they can spin garbage into their reality.
Pittis is supposed to be a business writer. He knows nothing about business which is how he can pen nonsense about renewable energy on the cusp of destroying the fossil fuel industry.
