  1. An apt choice Lance . New pipeline news – Trans Canada has asked for a 30 day delay to review the new ,well I don’t know what to call them , criteria I guess , to proceed with energy East . I guess the 30,000 page document doesn’t cover everything . This is in addition to the new criteria they were already trying to meet .You couldn’t make this kind of thing up .

  2. Conrad Black is a joke. Like most people here, he neither knows what he really believes nor does he live in the real world.
The mockery is not dwindling. It’s never going to. Indeed, in a typical pique of brilliance, Trump just gave Democrats everything they wanted on the debt ceiling and more. Leverage = gone. DEAL-MAKER EXTRAORDINAIRE!

  3. I just thought of a question: where is the Tea Party? Spending is as high as it ever was and Obamacare isn’t going anywhere. So where are these guys? Don’t tell me it one part sincerity with 10 parts ‘hands of my Medicare!’ tribalistic idiocy!

  4. Conrad Black writes a good summary that any “Establishment” Republican HOPES that America believes….Trumps problem is less Democrat and more Republican… Mitch & Ryan…..It’s not going to change unless Republican leadership changes

  5. Here’s an observation.
Prior to the last federal election the liberals in third place and the NDP as official opposition there was an occasional pondering if it was time for the two parties to merge. Such talk was given the bums rush by the liberal punditry, but after observing the political landscape federally and provincially I wonder if that merger hasn’t taken place in all but name.
The old liberal strategy of “you can have the West we’ll take the rest” may be in play but now it’s an unwritten rule between the lpc and the NDp.

  6. “Google’s search bias against conservative news sites has been quantified
Google Search is biased in favor of left/liberal websites against conservative websites, and is extremely biased in favor of climate alarmism against climate realism.”
“Google Search is found to be extremely biased in favor of climate alarmism and against climate realism. The PGSTN ranges for climate realism and climate alarmism do not even overlap!
Some of the most important climate realist domains, including low-controversial judithcurry.com, have such a low PGSTN that they can be considered blacklisted by Google.
Google Search is found to be biased in favor of left/liberal domains and against conservative domains with a confidence of 95%. Further, certain hard-Left domains have such a high PGSTN that their standing raises suspicions that they have been hand-picked for prominent placement. Certain respected conservative domains are blacklisted.”

  7. Sad news indeed although not totally surprising. I happen to live in the constituency and it was always an NDP stronghold until Jennifer Campeau came along, knocked off the socialists and then managed to beat them again the second time around. The NDP had pulled out all the stops in this by-election. Their drones were out early and often. Their hideous hi-viz orange signs dotted the neighbourhoods and it seemed like every day there was a new pamphlet cluttering my mailbox with the usual negative drivel that the NDP is so adept at producing.
I had talked to a few of my neighbours prior to the by-election and was mildly surprised at the degree of liv syndrome that existed. It was all about the budget and when Premier Wall took drastic, but required steps to tame the deficit, voters reacted like children, throwing a tantrum when goodies were taken away.
Anyway, I hope the constituents are happy with the results. We have lost an excellent representative in Ms. Campeau and replaced her with a socialist who will spend her days chirping from the opposition benches, putting forth criticism without offering solutions and saying exactly what her public service union bosses want her to say.

“The legislature and all Ontarians must be able to rely on the province’s consolidated financial statements to fairly report the fiscal results for the year. This year they cannot do so,” she said in a statement rejecting the contents of the public accounts, the formal declarations from Finance Minister Charles Sousa and Treasury Board President Liz Sandals of how much money we’ve got, how much we took in and how much we spent.
Also, the Liberals can keep their promise to start clawing out from under the province’s mountain of debt, Ontario’s financial accountability officer Stephen LeClair says, only if a whole bunch of implausible things happen.”

Islam (as we learned on 9/11) is a violent, predatory warrior cult, whereas Buddhism is a peaceful spiritual path teaching kindness and compassion. As a result, Buddhism has always found it very difficult to withstand the ruthlessness of the Islamic onslaught.
Islam is determined to dominate all other religions and belief systems by intimidation, terror and genocide.”

  12. Venezuala sends “tons” of aid to Barbuda and Antigua after Hurricane Irma:
    http://www.caribflame.com/2017/09/venezuela-sends-aid-to-hurricane-irma-struck-antigua-and-barbuda/
    And to Houston:
“Just weeks ago, Venezuela pledged to donate US$5 million to help with recovery efforts in areas devastated by Hurricane Harvey in the U.S. state of Texas. The country also provided free gas to rescue workers, firefighters and police in their efforts to help victims affected by the storm, through Citgo Holding Inc., a subsidiary of the state oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela. In addition, the firm has promised US$3 million in aid for the Mayor of Houston’s relief program.”
Yes, the very same country where people go hungry and riot for food:

I’m sure the aid is appreciated. But if your own people need the aid more, should you not look to your own needs first?
The wealthiest country in the world is capable of looking after its own people, and those in Barbuda too.
“Following the delivery, the President of Venezuela’s National Consituent Assembly declared, ‘Venezuela solidarity accompanies our brothers in Antigua and Barbuda in this hour of difficulty!'”

I was watching a thing on the APTN about this. apparently if enormous copper deposits git found, some sort of ’emminent domain’ kicks is. lotsa money involved !! how much went to mccain’s campaing finances? isn’t that how it works, or is there a much more clever way of ‘laundering’ the funds?
