  10. One of those songs that brings back a flood of memories from my youth in a small town in Wisconsin…and clear January days, chopping wood, clearing X-C ski trails, etc. It’s a song that just creates warmth, regardless of the outside temperature.

    No, it’s not reasonable. “Inclusivity” and “multiculturalism” are phony values, and should never be able to override genuine human rights. “Equality” is a value, but it means we all have the same rights. No one has the right to beat up another person, including a gay person, but everyone has the same right to freedom of conscience, and “equality” doesn’t compete with it, it supports it.
    “Accommodating Tourloukis would ‘directly impact the ability of Ontario public schools to provide students with a positive, inclusive, and supportive educational environment.'”
    Nonsense. The omission of one student from the class is no threat to anyone. If and when said student harms another student or threatens to, that is the time for the authorities to step in.

    There is no harm to the rights of other students whatsoever. The only students’ rights being harmed are Tourloukis’s. No one has to “accept” or “welcome” another’s personal characteristics. All they have to do is respect the other’s rights.

    There’s nothing to “honour” or to “celebrate”. However, the rights of gay students must be respected as one’s own. Personally I don’t believe gay people are doing anything morally wrong by virtue of their orientation, but others have the right to disagree.
    Unfortunately, given the Supreme Court’s execrable decision in S. L. v. Commission scolaire des Chênes in 2012, the Charter right to freedom of conscience has been all but eradicated.
