  1. Why Is There Always A Big Screen TV
The CBC and the Lieberals are trying their damnedest to muzzle the Senator who spoke out about the inconvenient truth of residential schools.
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/residential-school-system-well-intentioned-conservative-senator-1.4015115
The senator is correct. Almost every successful aboriginal leader and businessperson came through the residential school system. There is far too much emphasis on the small percent who want to play victim for compensation instead of those who benefited from the useful education it gave them. The abuse was caused by the churches that administered the schools not the government, but the government is viewed as the best source for compensation money. It’s all about the money, as usual.
The Lieberals are going to find themselves in a virtue signalling dilemma when the muslimes and the aboriginals start competing for the limited pool of victim compensation money.

  2. I’ve been a Federal Conservative supporter since 1974.
Last week I sent a cheque and a letter to Andrew Scheer, MP for Regina-Qu’Appelle for a membership stating that I was supporting him in his leadership campaign.
Both the letter and the cheque were dated Mar. 25. I mailed it at a rural post office that is opened on Sat. AM. The Postmaster stamped it that day.
Today, Scheer’s campaign office sent me an e-mail stating that I am not a registered voter. After 4 days, and 100 miles away, the letter and the cheque were there for sure. I tried to phone the campaign office, but with no avail. No one is there to answer the phone. I left a message, no reply. If no one was answering the phone, obviously they were not opening their mail and registering the voters who payed by cheque.
Conclusion. I’ve mailed income tax, land payments, land title registrations, license fees etc. etc. to Regina over the years. The recipients have always accept the Canada Post stamp on the envelope if it’s dated on or prior to the deadline day. This is the last membership I buy from the CPC, assuming I don’t get angry enough to place a stopped payment on the cheque tomorrow AM.

  3. This is the last membership I buy from the CPC,
I bought my membership directly from the CPC on-line, with no problem whatsoever. Blame Scheer’s campaign office, not the CPC.

  4. I don’t think the US media will pickup that story of the Peel school Board… It could be contagious
WOW… Canada beats us to the punch.. Who would expect that from the Canary experiment.. better get ready to
run away if you expect PC safe places…Folks have eaten enough SHIT

  5. I know, I should have been more specific, however can you believe that the person who wants to be the next PM does not have anyone answering his phone at the campaign office on the eve of the final day of for voters to purchase a membership. The reason I payed by cheque was simply because I trusted that the Canada Post date on the envelope would be accepted, and it still may be. However how could I find out when there is no one answering the phone or replying to my e-mails??
Scheer has great support from within the party, however I don’t know how he’ll make out from outside supporters.

  6. My neighbour, a CPC supporter who is even more upset at this than I am just phoned. He claims that if the envelope was dated before the deadline of Mar. 28-2017, they should accept it as a valid membership for a vote. As for sending payment online, I live in Saskatchewan, last month I just had a $1200 charge against my Visa from a hotel in Maryand, USA. I’m a tad ”Visa shy” at the moment. The bank did refund the money.
Last year I talked to a Ford salesman about buying a car on my Visa so I could get the travel miles. He replied, ”We much prefer a cheque.” They will sell the car on Visa, however the customer has to pay the charges that TD Visa needs to complete the transaction.

  7. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m not sure how the CPC ballot is supposed to work? Are we to indicate our top 4, 5, or 8 choices ranked by preference? In any case Scheer won’t be one of my picks. Any candidate who can’t manage membership applications isn’t qualified to be party leader.

  8. I use multiple visa cards for different accounting streams. They’re all no-fee and the monthly payment is automatically paid from the checking account. My bank was more than happy to set it up for me years ago. If one gets compromised it’s easily cancelled.

  9. Interestingly, in reporting on the Peel incident, both CBC and CTV chose to feature the same individual — someone who tried to calm things down. Why exactly do we need these tweedledum and tweedledee television news broadcasts? Their reporting is nearly identical much of the time. It’s embarrassing.

  10. This ‘smoking gun,’ by Nate Madden:
    —————————–
A former Obama appointee who appears to have confessed to the existence of a concerted effort to surveil the Trump team and hide the findings in the federal bureaucracy ought to be brought before Congress as a witness, Mark Levin said Wednesday night.
The Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief was referring to Evelyn Farkas, a former deputy assistant secretary at the Pentagon under Barack Obama. She appeared on NBC’s Morning Joe earlier in March, and recalled how she and others worked in the waning days of the Obama presidency to hide data about members of the Trump transition team and their “dealings with Russia.”

  11. “Looks like diversity may not make us stronger after all”
The core limitation with the “Canadian value” of “diversity” is that it is fundamentally meaningless.

“A news conference in Winnipeg held by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was interrupted by a protester who called him a scumbag.
“Shame on you and your globalist counterparts,” the man said. “You’re scumbags. You are an absolute scumbag.”
The man carried a camcorder as he heckled Trudeau about the carbon tax while the prime minister answered other questions.
Staff from the Prime Minister’s Office said the man gained entry to the event claiming to be a member of the “world alternative media” and security eventually led him out of the room without incident.”

  13. Both Justin Trudeau & Environment Minister McKinnon talk about the need of a carbon tax in order to deal with “carbon pollution”. Could they please explain what they intend to do about the 18.5% “carbon pollution” of their own bodies and of the rest of humanity?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composition_of_the_human_body
“Almost 99% of the mass of the human body is made up of six elements: oxygen [65%], carbon [18.5%], hydrogen [9.6%], nitrogen [3.2], calcium [1.5], and phosphorus [1%]. Only about 0.85% is composed of another five elements: potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium. All 11 are necessary for life.”

“But the UK, with its particular set of circumstances, is not the only country seeing the curious disappearance of climate change from the political agenda.
The French capital, Paris, put its name on the latest global climate agreement. It was hailed as a diplomatic triumph which France basked in.
Yet, at the country’s lengthy first presidential debate between five candidates, just a single passing remark from one candidate, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, on climate change was reported.
Separately, Emmanuel Macron earlier goaded Donald Trump by offering France as a haven for disaffected scientists, including climate scientists, but that’s as high profile as it got.

  16. Here we go again. The media is deliberately distorting the actions of Kellie Leitch. In this case, she met with a group of people who have concerns about Muslim immigration. As it turns out, some of the participants were from a more extreme group of those with concerns about Muslim immigration (Rise Canada), but the article (unless you read to the end) makes it sound like the meeting was specifically with them. It was not — it was a much broader group opposing religious activities in the schools. The sub head states that her involvement was “deeply troubling” — last time I heard that political cliche, it was in conjunction with accusations of rape. There is no indication of who states her involvement was “deeply troubling”. Turns out, it was a Muslim lobby group. They, of course, are free to object to her involvement, but the news should attempt to be a bit more objective in explaining exactly the situation — instead, they have put forward just one more attempted smear of Leitch.
Unfortunately, this is what you can expect if she actually succeeds in getting the leadership. There is a distorted narrative about her that the media seems happy to push. They would prefer a compliant cypher (likable and does not make waves) as leader of the Conservatives. That would allow the Liberals to carry on with their agenda with little to no interference . . . while the Conservatives are there really just as an insurance policy should the Liberals get too far off course. It’s enough to make a person want to support Leitch in the upcoming contest. She at least acknowledges that some aspects of Muslim immigration pose a threat, but this is not discussable in Canada. Unfortunately, the media’s hostility will not lead to fairness or balance.

  17. “But it’s not just in London that the issue seems to be slipping from the political stage” Slipping from the stage except in Canada where the brainwashing is alive and well. Yesterday the Post included a paid insert all about how wonderful it is to address climate change. This was a Media Planet insert. They are paid to produce content. Unfortunately no one knows who paid for this insert and many readers probably think it is normal news information.

  18. Why would the executives of a failing (sorry, “restructuring” again) company receive bonuses and 50% raises in compensation?
Because those executives deserve every cent – they made money for the company. Don’t listen to those boring losses and layoffs stories.
They worked hard and did an excellent job, which was to siphon off taxpayer dollars to Bombardier.
As for making airplanes, not so much. But c’mon, you’re missing the big picture here.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2017/03/29/bombardier-compensation-layoffs-government-aid_n_15691128.html

  19. Because those executives deserve every cent – they made money for the company.
So how come the share price is down, eh?
On the other hand, it doesn’t surprise me. I remember how Trudeau the Elder kept bailing out Canadair and de Havilland Canada, even though they were financial sinkholes with no profit in sight.
Juthtin the Cardboard Cutout is merely continuing a family tradition.

  20. That’s ridiculous. His ranting reminds me of a Globe comment I came across recently where someone stated that what was needed in Canada was another centre-left party to take the helm once the Liberals became corrupt . . . as though there is no room in Canada for any ideas except those on the centre left. What makes Gilmore think he is a Conservative anyway? His views and ideas do not reflect those of Conservatives I know (e.g. agreeing with “climate change”) The article is sheer crapola and the author should join the Liberals if he thinks they have such a lock on wisdom. Liberals have a tendency not so comprehend the legitimacy of anything except their own world view.

  21. Actually their share value is up, but that wasn’t my point, besides an attempt at humour.
These executives are in the subsidy gathering business, which they’re successful at, not the aircraft building business, which they’re not.
That’s just a front for their rent seeking activities.
Anyway I really don’t think they’re doing a good job; I thought my sarcasm was evident.

  22. Actually their share value is up,
Not compared with a year or two ago. My father bought lots of BBD shares at an average of just over $3.00/share. The last time I checked, they’re down around $0.75, hardly encouraging for anyone who invested money in the company.
These executives are in the subsidy gathering business, which they’re successful at, not the aircraft building business, which they’re not.
That’s hardly surprising as Bombardier took over Canadair, one of the most notorious financial sinkholes that was ever supported by Ottawa using taxpayer money.
I thought my sarcasm was evident
It was, but I made my comments as an investor in the stock market.

  23. I don’t recall Kellie Leach being a conservative in the Harper government. In fairness not many were. Rarely are medical docs conservatives.
If KL doesn’t win this look for her to disappear. Her ideas are toxic in a liberal country.

  24. He’s a “self-loathing” conservative, eh? I think he’s right, I’ll loathe him too.

  26. And why should someone who is not gay be so proud of gays being gay? Why do supposedly Canadian values like “diversity” and “tolerance” mean we are all required to pretend we think the same as they do and to pretend that people who dislike us for being white and/or male and/or Christian and/or conservative and/or heterosexual, etc. are tolerant?

  29. I do not think she will disappear. She has a lot of supporters and could easily be again elected as an MP. The press vilifies her views, but she speaks for many.

  30. Henry VIII was very fond of music, wrote some, commissioned much more. The garabagy accompanying the first part isn’t Tudor.

  31. I don’t doubt she could be re-elected. If she doesn’t win, who’s team would she be on?
She sat on the back bench long enough to realize that its not for her. All I’m saying is that if she doesn’t win – she’s exhausted her political capital.

  32. Um not a bad article. But try typing “Rachel Marsden”, “SFU'”, and “Liam Donnelly” into your search engine and see what comes up. The movies ‘Single White Female’ and ‘Fatal Attraction’ might be entertaining viewing, as a post-script.
