Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Thanks for the link, Kate. An unusual and illuminating perspective on the shenanigans going on south of the border.

Perhaps grownups like Dan Rather and Brian Williams could have stepped in to help.
Nice find, Kate. Great, well-written article on the decline and then death – no, suicide -of the MSM under Obama, that all readers should bookmark for future reference.
“Does Trump really believe the media are “an enemy of the people”? Please. Let’s remember how he rode his wave to fame on the back of the New York Post’s Page Six (and Graydon Carter’s Spy magazine). He still speaks regularly to the head of CNN (aka “Fake News”), Jeff Zucker, who put him on The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice at NBC, where Trump sat atop the Nielsens for 13 years. Trump uses his Twitter feed to boost his replacement Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ratings because the president still has a credit as executive producer. No, Trump doesn’t hate the media. Like Howard Stern, he sees himself as the king of all media. What he’s doing here is playing gladiator in front of an audience that wants to see the lions slain.”
An apt analogy. Of course, many Trump supporters, here and elsewhere, actually believe in the “media is the enemy of the people” shtick, so if the whole thing is in fact just an act put on by a cynical showman to placate the salivating, adoring masses, ask yourselves: who are the folks whom Trump is really playing?
Interesting article.
So lots of words to say what Trump does with a tweet?
Master Showman meets mediocre media twits, uses said tools to his own end.
Sure Trump might be a complete phoney, but so what?
The Presidency is a figurehead.
If Trump continues acting as he has, the ROLE will be successfully played.
The medium is the message, the presstitutes are burning.
Best election ever, even better first month on job.
The enemies of the USA Constitution are outing themselves all over the Uni-Party.
“Does Trump really believe the media are “an enemy of the people”? Trump may be using this tactic to fire up his base and keep them fired up, but he is absolutely right.
I have thought all along that the term “fake news” is somewhat incorrect as the “news” is more akin to being almost exclusively liberal biased. By their own admission the media is around 80% or more liberal supporting in the US and in Canada. This bias is reflected in their coverage and is ramped up especially so if the liberal hegemony in society is threatened. Here in Canada the media wing of the Laurentian Elite pulled all the stops to defeat Harper and have a useless empty-headed part time dram teacher elected. In the US they wanted a crook elected.
The term “biased news” does not have quite the same ring to it as does the term “fake news”.
“If Trump were the Manchurian candidate that people keep wanting to believe that he is, here are some of the things he’d be doing:
Limiting fracking as much as he possibly could
Blocking oil and gas pipelines
Opening negotiations for major nuclear arms reductions
Cutting U.S. military spending
Trying to tamp down tensions with Russia’s ally Iran
That Trump is planning to do precisely the opposite of these things may or may not be good policy for the United States, but anybody who thinks this is a Russia appeasement policy has been drinking way too much joy juice.”
Walter Russell Means

I grabbed a coffee. I read the whole thing. It’s pretty good.
But the meteor did not hit when Drudge broke the Blue Dress for free on the internet. The meteor hit a really long time before that, back before the Great Depression.
Since Franklin Delano Roosevelt won three terms as President, the American Press has been leaning hard Left. The author mentions this, but he doesn’t really understand what it means.
“Trump adviser Steve Bannon calls the media the opposition party, but that’s misleading. Everyone knows that the press typically tilts left, and no one is surprised, for instance, that The New York Times has not endorsed a Republican candidate since 1956. But that’s not what we’re seeing now—rather, the media has become an instrument in a campaign of political warfare.”
That’s not true. I -remember- the pre-Internet press. The American press/tv/radio has been an instrument of political warfare for the DemocRat Party my entire life, 60 years. Big Government is their argument, and has been since the 1920’s at least. Probably since Teddy Roosevelt, come to think of it.
The datum that the NY Times hasn’t backed a Republican since 1956 is a bigger deal than Mr. Lee Smith would like to let on. They backed Jimmy Carter. That’s pre-Internet. There was no excuse for that. Carter was and remains an -idiot- and they backed him to the hilt. Disaster followed, as day follows night.
Only now, since the back of the monopoly was broken by nerds in lab coats, are we actually having a real debate.
Other than that minor quibble, it was a pretty good article. >:)
the voice of a man from within the echo chamber.
Indeed. Or the voice of a sheep that as gone to stand in the ruins of the barn after it burnt down, hoping someone will bring hay.
A must-read. But still fails to explain the phenomenon that is Craig Oliver.
Jesus must of been a Conservative.
No Liberal ever gets press this bad.
The Gospel of Mark reports that Jesus comes into conflict with his neighbors and family.[120] Jesus’ mother and brothers come to get him (Mark 3:31–35) because people are saying that he is crazy (Mark 3:21). Jesus responds that his followers are his true family.
Craig Oliver is a product of the great Liberal release.Where they opened the doors of all the Institutions and set all those Liberal voters free!
Craig happened to walk in to CTV.
The boy just aint right.
“Maureen Dowd wrote that in Hollywood “there has been a single topic of discussion: How does Jeff Zucker keep rising and rising while the fortunes of NBC keep falling and falling? ”
Jeff Zucker is a useless piss-ant that did nothing of significance @ NBC .. He pushed Kathie from the Today show
into Entertainment NEWS… AKA as Fake News… and now CNN the Communist (Jewish) News Network
If the Russians tried to fix the Election it was for Hillary and against Trump… How did Hillary win California & New York (Popular vote), but lost FLA, Ohio & the rust belt….Those Russians sure F&&ked up
Very uneven and at times conflicting column (he says that the New Yorker harmed its balance sheet by expanding expensive print subscriptions yet says that the NYT is right to charge for online subscriptions when distribution is practically free).
Content has and will always be king. Advertisers put ads in the nyt classifieds because people read the content. What the author and the dinosaurs forgot was that fact. The dinosaur media clung to outdated content styles and methods and assumed that their left-wing bias could persist even when it ignored the blue dress and a million other stories harmful to their side but of interest to the public.
And that hubris (always terminal) is what has or is killing them off.
What we are witnessing is the media equivalent of the Siege and destruction of Berlin in ’45. It is the media that is hitlerian fanatical in clinging to what they see as an American institution when they are a disgrace to it. And like that final battle there will be enormous and shocking casualties on both sides.
But the MSM will most certainly be utterly defeated in the end.
I got about 1/3 through the article and then ditched it.
Full of anti-Trump innuendo, back-handed complements, straw-man arguments and question begging, cloaked in sanctimonious wordy statements and paragraphs.
Tablet is no more than a neo-con Jewish site that backs the likes of the NYT and the Washington Compost to the hilt. Always has. Always will.
One thing you can always be certain about: When it comes down to Israel or America they will *ALWAYS* back the former over the latter.
That’s them in a nutshell. Don’t waste your time.
The legacy media had a business model that relied on limited bandwidth. Whether it was the broadcast networks, with their licenses to operate on particular limited frequencies, or the newspapers, with the steep entry costs of setting up a large printing press, the flow of information was limited. If you wanted to reach large numbers of people, you had to go through the legacy media.
The Internet broke their business model. Inertia has kept them going but that only goes on so long.
The So-Called “truth” of the main-stream media has “jumped the shark” in t.v. parlance.
One has to think the Whole Phony Theme of the “Russian Connection” to fool the Ordinary Sovereign American Citizen who S-Elected the President Donald Trump Administration is “Just- in thinking” a cover for the inevitable Truth of the “IRANIAN Candidate”. It is absolutely amazing HOW the numerous connections between the Barak Hussein Obama Administration and the Iranian Ayatollah Administration never reached beyond the News Editors/Producer Cubicles.
How the Democrat Based & deBased Black Inner-City of Chicago conveniently used there Based/deBased Control to groom and gently handled from early 1990’s along to 2008 through to 2016 is beyond belief. Surel Religious Leaders especially at the other end believe it as a Miracle from Medina.
There are even Current Phony News Articles about a “Russian Candidate” in an attempt to Once again using the Smeredia to Try and Connect the 1960’s Film “Manchurian Candidate” to President Trump’s Administration. Natural results within Ordinary Citizenry Sovereignty, not miracles brought forward the Trump Administration.
Once again the “Unbelievably Stupid OR just continuing (Lazy?)-(Naive?)-(Stupid?)-(all 3?) Democrat “sucking sound personnel for funding” resounds through the countryside in the efoort to pay their Democrat sinecures.
Don’t let your Ears fool You. Do Believe the (Active)-(Mature)-(Intelligent) Voters who elected President Trump will Never believe the THREE Strike Clowns of Mass Media AGAIN.
Great read.
The Media outsourced Journalism (Nam) to the likes of Peter Arnett who lacked an understanding of American Culture (Language)…CNN was able to take political advantage of parsing
A good example of first generation American Journalists who do not understand AMERICAN… When the good General told the Iraqi’s that he was not there to take the OIL..(They all screamed he broke with Trump). They fail to add the American translation “Don’t make me change my mind” I may kick you in the ASS & take everything in your country if you F&&kup again…
It’s all in the details
