We Don’t Need No Stinking Giant Fans

Vancouver Sun;

An award-winning Surrey company that described itself as a “world leader” in wind turbines has gone out of business.
A bankruptcy notice on the front door of Endurance Wind Power in the Campbell Heights industrial area on 24th Ave. near 192 St. confirms that the company’s operations are now being overseen by trustee Grant Thornton Ltd.
Endurance chief executive Brad Bardua said the company suffered after government subsidies to small-scale wind turbines dried up in Britain, the company’s prime market.

It wasn’t their only problem.

  1. They tempted the fates when they called themselves Endurance Wind Power and the fates won.

  2. “According to the Global Wind Energy Council, a record of more than 63 gigawatts of new wind power capacity was brought on-line last year around the world.”
As I posted at the link, installed capacity versus real usable production please? More green sleight-of-hand to make this boondoggle seem more viable than it is.
And as long as taxes and other costs of manufacturing anything in Canada are higher than in other Countries, will will continue on our way to Mexico North.

  3. Your link brings up an interesting point.
Do wind turbines carry warranties and service agreements? If so, presumably they become worthless when the manufacturer shuts its doors and declares bankruptcy. This suggests there may be serious “knock on” effects when green manufacturers go belly up.

  4. Well, now, they might well indeed actually be “world leaders”, just as advertised. Going out of business might get real fashionable in that line of business, any time now.

  5. One by one … all the retread 1970’s era wind towers will go the way of the forest of windmills at the Altamont pass on HWY 580 in N.CA. Spinning wildly in the 1970’s as Jimmey Carter cheered. Frozen in place in the 1980’s … and idle ever since. Ever since the Federal Taxpayer subsidies had dried up. Without the false economies of taxpayer funding … FORCING your fellow citizens who live 3,000 miles from the electricity generated by these eyesores … to FUND YOUR “clean, green” electricity. Wind power is stupid. As stupid as all the simple minded voters who keep supporting this garbage

  6. golly, over 14 thousand dead wind turbines in the US that no one will claim or tear down. coming to a province near you. I hope it is not in your backyard.

  7. So, why doesn’t Dr Fruit Fly, Tzeporah Berman, Comrade Mayor Gregor Moonbeam, Joe Foy, Lizard May, Orville Wynne, and Red Rach, etc, ride in to the rescue and bailout this firm with their own money?
Don’t they BELIEVE in alt energy?

  8. “…the company received numerous business awards over the years…Fast-track company of the year” and a business excellence award from the South Surrey and White Rock Chamber of Commerce.”
We can only hope that other windmill manufacturers follow in their footsteps, win all those green wienie awards and also go belly-up. Made my heart sing seeing this.

  9. Where are the Notley Dictator Party (NDP) of Alberta going to buy their 1,000 wind turbines?

  10. killer, there are over 14 thousand dead wind turbines in the US and no one seems to be responsible for getting rid of them.

  11. Well you bring an interesting point…no kidding….If its an NDP Government or anywhere Gerald Butts has influence…you can be these operations will be considered…” TOO Big to Fail”
