The American news industry is a disgrace. Instead of serious coverage of the growing crisis in Europe (and, also, in Syria-where Russia now has an aircraft carrier poised for action-and elsewhere) we get absurd daily updates on women to whom Donald Trump allegedly made a rude remark 15 years ago. The incompetence of our news media parallels the incompetence of the Obama administration-no surprise, since we are basically talking about the same people.
Not to mention the ever-hotter war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. If Iran starts backing up Yemen, the USA could be dragged into yet another shooting war.

The anti Putin propaganda in the US is just to divert people from the current mountains of problems at home.
When they blamed Trump for being friendly to Putin, they supported it with the idea that it was the Russians that hacked everything. Trump said that nobody knows who it was and they could not come with a proof save repeating their meme.
Putin is no saint, he wants to establish Russia as a power to deal with.
You will notice that they blame the Russians for bombing the Syrian town, you will not find it anywhere that the bad guys are hiding in the hospitals and other places where the civilised people live as is their custom.
As it is the Americans have learned not to do that so the bad guys can live.
However messy things are in the world today, it may yet turn out that those bad Russians will save the western civilization from the 6 century hordes, since the rest of the western civilization is not up to it.

Well said Lev, and I agree with your answer to Kenji that it will be the block captains. I think that Putin does not have an ideology other than advancing Russia’s national interests. Mostly our leaders in the west are doing their best to destroy our national interests and become post-national states.
