The Edmonton Journal is reporting that Alberta NDP Energy Minister Marg McCuaig-Boyd’s new chief of staff, Graham Mitchell, registered in January of this year as a lobbyist for an anti-pipeline advocacy organization.
Memo to Albertans: The next time you want to get a mosquito off your head, don’t use a shotgun.
h/t wallyj

More eco-dirty work the enviromental luddies inserting their memmbers into iportiant positions so to halt any natural resource use Damn bunch of back to nature freakos
We’ll drink a cup of poison once for NDP
If not for oil and gas…and coal, we would all freeze to death!!
Oh no…we would just cut down all the trees to keep warm.
“The next time you want to get a mosquito off your head, don’t use a shotgun.”
The PCs ruled Alberta since Libya’s Kaddafi was a Colonel, and they were a California Condor size mosquito that was sucking us dry.
A shotgun was the only solution, thanks to the PC supporters.
If there are enough conservatives among them we’ll have a WildRose government next time.
How long did it take for the Federal PCs to bugger off after Reform started to replace PC seats in Alberta? Three elections.
We’ll be there next time since WildRose has been gaining seats for 2 already and we won’t be losing cred like we did last time with candidates who have Feet of Clay.
Makes absolutely no difference. Mötley is a watermelon thru and thru. Her only desire is to turn AB into a have-not province again. Just my 5 cents worth.
OZ: Shell, Exxon, BP and Texaco have gone into third world African (etc.) nations, explored and drilled in places that were so rough they needed an army to watch over their crews and equipment, and they came out of there smiling and made billions. Do you really believe that the oil barons are worried about Mme. Notley?? I don’t think so!! They have ways of dealing with ”opposition.” Trust me.
I used to work for Talisman. You aren’t telling me anything I don’t know.
This is a feature to Notley, not a bug.
“Memo to Albertans: The next time you want to get a mosquito off your head, don’t use a shotgun.”
I’m stealing this and I don’t care who knows. 🙂
Well, there should be a resignation over conflict of interest.
Being ruled for one term by immoral, corrupt, incompetent, socialists is not unlike a strong reaction to a vaccine. While it is an unpleasant experience at the time, the patient is confident that the protection against any recurrence of the disease for at least several decades is very high.
Of course, there is always the possibility that the opposition “government in waiting” will wind up as a bunch of poorly disciplined prima donnas beclowning themselves to such an extent that the voters become frightened of all politicians.
All we need to become a collection of have-not provinces is to elect more NDP’s. Protest voting has it’s consequences, Alberta and the entire country is about to find out just how dire those consequences can be when you have the NDP in charge of the economic engine of the country.
Morontario’s immunity didn’t take that well after Boob Rae…..look at us now.
You could see the vote spitting coming with that cancerous twit, soon to the airwaves, and her trumped up charges against the land use bills, that coincidentally finally gave farmers and land holders a decent dollar for utilities crossing. She built her whole time in the house on lies and innuendo and now we have at least 4 years of no longer being envied, now laughed at by the ROC. Get ready Canada there won;t be 22 billion coming your way when we have to fund the arts and shut down the oilsands. Albertans can thank vote splitting for what is coming, at least the despised PET knew in order to win, one must grab the wheel of the big ship, not ram it with a dingy, but then that sums up Smith, dingy.
Has anyone noticed the Alberta dippers are waiting until after the federal election to do the provincial budget?
At least some journalists got new jobs:

No matter how much the NDP screw things up, that oil and gas will still be in the ground. Keeping it there until the price of oil sky rockets again and the “wealth distribution party” is punted from office might not be the worst thing.
“Has anyone noticed the Alberta dippers are waiting until after the federal election to do the provincial budget?”
Then we get to watch them turn a $5 billion deficit into an $8 billion deficit. But don’t worry because next year taxes are going up big time. I’m sure they will raise oil royalties big time. I’m just not sure they will collect any more money.
Joe Citizen @ 1:23 – Thanks for your insight, we tend to get so involved in the politics of the whole bloody mess, that we can’t really see what the Hell is going on. Of course, you’re right, and I’m not sure if that isn’t the way it should be, anyways. The deceptions are truly amazing!
“…now we have at least 4 years of no longer being envied, now laughed at by the ROC…”
After two years of Bob Rae you couldn’t find anyone in Ontario who would admit to voting NDP.
“Keeping it there until the price of oil sky rockets again and the “wealth distribution party” is punted from office might not be the worst thing.”
Periodically oil wells need maybe $ hundred thousand or more rework to keep flowing. I suspect that anything more than routine maintenance already is awaiting higher prices and a less communistic government.
Speaking of communism, it’s hard to imagine anything closer to communism within a democracy than Ontario under the Wynne Liberals.
It is not necessary that Alberta voted NDP, the stink of PC’s turned off their supporters such that they didn’t vote….The Socialists work the media to turn-off the oppositions support.
White Rose & PC’s better get their Shit together and appeal to their supporters.
The whole female agenda has a dual purpose…insure female turnout and turn-off males….Requiring documentation has the same purpose in that the Republicans are suppressing minority voters….Illegal voters are considered minorities and because we don’t catch them is proof that they don’t exist… yep!
I am starting a theme that Hillary wants to eliminate the White Male Vote.. If they have guns or speeding tickets they lose the right to VOTE….period NY TIMES…That should get the White male vote OUT..and turn-off thinking females.
Congratulations Alberta, the inmates are running the asylum.
Dear AB conservatives.
If you start believing that the ‘electorate made a mistake, and they’ll realize it next election’, you _will_ lose again.
See Sask NDP, see Federal Liberals.
Smarten up.
Dan S @ 10:49
All of the resources that are in the ground now have been there for millions of years. The problem isn’t whether something is there, it’s whether there’s any real likelihood of them being exploited. The infrastructure and knowledge base needed to develop large scale mining ventures like those that are cleaning up nature’s biggest oil spill (aka the oil sands) don’t develop overnight, and will not stay where they can’t work.
Is Venezuela better off now that their social leader is dead? Just because the top parasite is gone doesn’t mean that recovery is quick.
Alberta has been ndp friendly for decades. They voted PC because they were comfortable with them. The ndp and their unions could work with them. Lougheed, Stelmach Redford etc courted the ndp. Why do you think that forever the ndp had no traction in the Province? Prentice changed all that.
The hiring of an anti oil, chief of staff comes as no surprise. We should have seen it coming – expect more of the same, and make no mistake about it, this came directly from Mrs Notley. She approved the hire and is using it as a message to Albertan’s, Canadians, the ndp and the patch. This is a FU moment – from a smiling face.
I expect things will get nasty quickly. Too much of this stuff and Mrs Notley will experience a push back that even she and her MLA’s might never have have anticipated. It could get ugly, especially if there are job losses. The unionistas can get grumpy.
It is my hope that both Wynne’s fiascoes and memories of Bob Rae will send Ontarians into the Conservative camp come the fall election. Of course the crazy unions will try to prevent that from happening, but they may not prevail given how bad both those governments have been for Ontario.
That would be nice, but I have the hinky feeling we are about to elect our first NDP federal government.
I had the same feeling the Summer before Obama got elected, both times,so I’ll go with that. I think it’s a message from God’s younger, disgruntled brother.
The media were infatuated with their Boy Wonder, but his glaring stupidity is so evident, even Liberals are disenchanted, but there IS a mood of change in the air,and it certainly hasn’t been helped by Harper’s Senate appointments of all the wrong people.
Canada often follows the U.S. in trends, and we know what trended in the USA since 2008.
Prime Minister Mulcair. Nope, doesn’t have a nice “ring” to it at all, but I’d wager a small, cheap draft beer we’re going to be hearing a lot of that this November.
I expect a 5% sales tax in the first NDP budget.
It will only be temporary, within a few years it will be up to 8% or more.
Leadnow is a rabid leftie organization. They despise Conservatives. “Robocall” was a Leadnow creation. It took off when Bob Rae and the CBC jumped in to promote it. It was very successful in demonizing the Conservatives.
Their latest campaign is to stop vote-splitting among the left when it would help to defeat a Conservative.
LindaL regarding the upcoming election, it depends upon how most Ontarians look and their neighbours who are better off than they are. The joke from the 70’s was that an American farmer with a wealthier neighbour would want to work harder to earn everything that the neighbour had. The soviet farmer would want something bad to happen to their wealthier neighbour, so that the neighbour would no longer be richer than the farmer.
If the majority would rather tear down the wealthy instead of becoming them, then the society is doomed. Thomas Sowell noted that each generation is invaded by a horde of barbarians when they have children, and must civilize them. The fruits of free parenting are coming home to roost, as the barbarians are showing us how shallow our civilization can seem to be.
As an aside, I wonder if Cassandra was the first conservative in legend. You know, she always knew what was going to happen, but she was never believed.
“Prime Minister Mulcair.”
Good Lord ….. what an apocalyptic phrase that is. Prime Minister Harper has done some remarkable work during very tough economic times. So much so that we are faring far better than most, if not all, countries in the world.
Mulcair and his mindless minions could undo all that in six months or less.
Prime Minister Mulcair. That is just wrong on so many levels. Comparable to Rabbi Reinhard Heydrich or Chief George Armstrong Custer. The title simply does not match the name.
I don’t like the sound of it any more than you do,biff, I just have this feeling…..
I’m going to contact Mulcair and offer to vote for him if he’ll promise me a seat in the Senate.
That’s my price, call me whatever you will.
