Four P.E.I. community rinks that invested thousands of dollars into wind turbines that never worked as advertised have received refunds.
The payout equals about $280,000 and is being bankrolled by the provincial government.
Community Gardens Complex, which is owned by the Town of Kensington, is one of the rinks.
Mayor Rowan Caseley said Monday that the town had been negotiating for some time with the rink turbine project manager, the Wind Energy Institute of Canada, and recently managed to work out a deal for the refund and to have the turbine removed.
“We’ve received the cheque and it’s now up to them to come and take it whenever they want,” said Caseley.

No comment needed-the lead in says it al.
That is a sweet deal for Wind Energy of Canada.
They profit on the sale through tax dollars, and then when their product turns out to be worthless, the taxpayer picks up the bill to reimburse the customer.
“he payout equals about $280,000” is only part of this financial debacle invoving taxpayers who in the end pick up the tab.
The $280,000 only represents the refund of $70,000 to the community rinks and their contribution to the project which is only a s,all portion of total cost as we see later in trhe article.
“Each contributed $70,000 to the construction of one 50 kilowatt wind turbine on their respective properties; the federal government gave $80,000 to each project and the provincial government paid $100,000 to each. That’s a total of about $1 million to build and install all four turbines.”
So we learn federal government contributed $80,000 to each projectwhich is $320,000 and the provincial government gave $100,000 to each project for grand sum 0f $400,000.This is all taxpayer money which hasn’t been recovered.
Time to start holding engineers responsible for BS claims relating to solar and wind power.
Scar – at one time engineers would have laughed at requests to justify a whirlywind scheme. But those times have vanished, and now the leadership of engineering associations is lip-locked to the politicians posteriors.
If this wasn’t so sad it would be funny. That is what they get for believing in Al Gore’s AGW fraud.
“”We’ve received the cheque and it’s now up to them to come and take it whenever they want,” said Caseley.”
Bwahahahaha…which will be NEVER. Think they are going to spend big bucks to tear it down? Fools and their (taxpayers) bucks. Mind you, Lieberal PEI deserves it.
Golly, now PEIers will only be able play hockey on their warming outdoor rinks and the beer will freeze!
Yep! They really don’t want to spend that cheque until the bird blender is gone – cause it ain’t goin on its own.
Hey don’t miss the big game tonight the Kensington Drunken Sailors are playing the Murray River Progressive Schmucks the winner goes on to play the Crapaud Gullible Rubes in the playoffs.
When windmills fail, there only one answer: solar panels.
Cover the whole bloody island in solar panels, and make sure the contractor is a good Liberal supporter.
Windturbines produce little harmful to birds and bats and are nosie
You give socialists money at your peril.
They will spend it on garbage if they have to.
It will be wasted so fast, it will make your head spin.
And. You will go whaaa?
I lost some video of two wind farms in northwesert PEI.
We watched for 15 minutes or so.
The ones at North Cape turned somewhat. There were about 30.
Further south on the west shore was an installation that numbered 50 units.
4 moved, if at all.
Speaking of rich eco-hypocrites:
–He’s a high profile advocate of environmental causes, believes the world must act now to combat the effects of global climate change and is producing documentaries about endangered species.
But accusations of hypocrisy have also dogged Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, 40, with detractors accusing him of not practicing what he preaches.
Now with RadarOnline reporting Friday that he took six private jet flights in just six weeks last year, it may prove hard for the actor to justify the need to avail himself of more than $200,000 worth of private travel between LA and New York in such a short period of time.–

Where are the rent seekers customers’ yachts?
In march I was reading a wall street journal article on wind and solar energy. what i found interesting was the fact that if both were considered as a % of energy use and rounded off to the nearest whole number, that number would be zero. fossil fuels will be necessary to sustain life in the foreseeable future and that future extends into hundreds of years.
Tie a enviroemntalists to the blades of a windturbine and hope for a tornado
