  1. The following opinion piece to her article is appropriately named “where have all the cod gone’.
*Hand up* Ohhhhhh ohhhhh I know!!!!!!

  2. Sounds like your typical dyed in the wool liberal totaly without a brain and tooo stupid to notice

  3. “We are far from perfect — our failings are particularly egregious in our treatment of our aboriginal people”
“Western industrial societies like Japan and parts of Europe that are unwilling to accept newcomers, and to allow themselves to be transformed by those immigrants, are destined to demographic and economic decline.”
I’m confused. It’s terrible to be overrun by immigrants, but it’s the most wonderful thing that could happen.

  4. “Multiculturalism isn’t just about statistics, it is about attitude. It is about seeing diversity as strength,”
LOL – Multiculturalism is about appeasing enemies that have been at war for centuries by fracturing white nations into multiple apartheid states to hate each other a little up front and personal.

  5. “…the actor playing a bigot was punched by an offended local.
That’s hard to beat as an advertisement for healthy multiculturalism.”
    Great example of wholesome leftism.

  6. Its January and the nuts are starall GET READY YOU SQURRELS but their hibernatiing i think but if their not then itsa feast day for squrrels

  7. She’s Trudeau’s financial adviser because she wrote two books about rich people. God help us all if Trudeau garners enough airhead votes to put him into power.

  8. AMEN to that!!! And double AMEN if he gets in with a minority with the backing of either the NDP or the Greens.

  9. Actually Little Mosque on the Prairie is the epitome of stupid multiculturalism. Plus apparently none of the female actors on the series are Muslim.
I remember some stupid CBC xmas show with people making gingerbread houses. There was a lady making a gingerbread mosque. I almost threw up.

  10. Canada has assimilated huge numbers of immigrants from all over the world. Three generations in, while they will still have some old country cultural traits, the vast majority have become Canadian. The only exception to this seems to be a certain sort of Muslim immigrant. WWhich makes sense in that Islam is a political, cultural and religious system in a way that essentially prohibits assimilation. One would think our political classes would note the English, French, German, Dutch and even Swedish experience and look for immigrants in non-Islamic nations. I suspect there are a lot of bright, educated, people from the above mentioned nations who caused the writing on the wall and would be delighted to come to Canada.

  11. “I suspect the greater, unspoken, concern of Anglophones is that we will be at a disadvantage in a society where everyone else is bilingual. I get it. I feel that pang every week… ”
Chrystia empathizes about the pain that she made up for other people.
    What a pompous twit!

  12. Self styled Ukrainian nationalist Freeland defended Bozo after his Russia losing a hockey game comment.
She’s more interested in promoting Chrystia Freeland than exposing the murder of the citizens of her motherland.
Meanwhile Harper stands up and tells Putin to get out of Ukraine.
We know who cares about injustices.

  13. Ms. Freeland is a blundering dilettante with an even more serious “just visiting” problem than the last “nominal Canadian” in her party: her Op-Ed piece outright throws itself on a number of third-rails in Canadian politics.
I would have thought that (a) she would have sought her leader’s approval for such a stunt, and that (b) he would have rejected it. Evidently not.
I would be curious to know what the reaction in the United States would be if, for instance, a bifurcated “American” member of, say, the Chinese politburo (one party state, to which our Liberal friends think they’re entitled, truly), wrote an Op-Ed in the NYT on the same set of subjects.
As I see it, there are a number of problems with her Op-Ed piece, over and above the ones already mentioned above by other commenters. In the interest of brevity, the most egregious problem concerns the flagrant conflation of bilingualism and multiculturalism.
She has no idea what she’s talking about, which makes me increasingly sanguine about a second Conservative majority.

  14. These people (Freeland and sundry other gated community Progs) are so divorced from the reality/mechanics of building national cohesion all they can offer is to mindlessly repeat their utopian indoctrinating – hollow rhetoric devoid of any real social value.
It never ceases to amaze me at how this parroting of vacuous Pollyanna, demonstrably fallacious prog social theory is what passes as nation building by the MSM – even though ample evidence of big government multicult pogroms being a socially/culturally DEVISIVE factor in national cohesion is easily seen.
Case in point – “the two solitudes” (franco/anglo) of Canada and the constant friction and threat of separation (in spite of feel good multi cult and fed bribery) is the steaming heap left by the multicult puppy on the nations living room rug which Progs must, of necessity, ignore to continue spewing their addleminded multicult matras.
Multicult is a total failure at cultural harmony and evidence is so abundant only a narrative spinning prog hack could miss it.

  15. So – two dudes from the London School of Economics, warn that a hard anti-immigrant turn in Britain will have negative consequences? You think so? Two grads from the L.S.of E?

  16. Immigration should not be a problem in a capitalist economy that does not hinder voluntary trade between individuals for mutual benefit, because everyone puts in and takes out more or less equally. It’s only a problem in socialist, dirigiste countries where many of the immigrants are shuffled onto the dole because all the good jobs are gone, destroyed by government policy.
Freeland: “In our Parliament, Anglophone members speak terrible French every day. Our accents are so bad that sometimes our Francophone colleagues can’t quite hide their winces.”
“This butchering of Flaubert’s native tongue …”
How impressed does she think a French-speaker from Paris would be by French-speaking Quebecois in Canada’s Parliament?
The skit with the guy impersonating a bigot (which Heather Mallick also wrote about, in just about the same way) was not the protagonists’ smartest moment, however well-intentioned. Violence by persons opposed to what they perceive as racism (or by anyone else) is not acceptable. Personally I often get the urge to punch out anyone caught talking about “social justice”, but that’s not going to happen either.
As for the comment above about “self styled Ukrainian nationalist”, that’s Freeland’s background on her mother’s side.
Kim Justin-il’s infamous comment about Russia and hockey was just an amusing quip, and I think he took unnecessary grief over it.

  17. Those french lessons will be very helpful on the back bench, where the pony will take hos rightful place as leader of the opposition.
