Long time reader Adrian, via email;
The results of the NZ elections are in and …. the right side of politics won and the rest tanked, imploded, generally suffered.
The voting system is not a first past post type, you get a party vote and a vote for your local MP. Well the conservatives (National) won big but there are also the Conservatives – a new party because National are a bit middle of the road sometimes, and then there is ACT which is probably the one that everyone should vote for.
Anyway, the Greens (Marxists) flopped, the Labour party (socialists) are all but finished, Mana (Maori grievance party) flopped due to an unholy alliance with Kim.com and the fact they are marxists, etc etc…..
Seems this new land is just getting better and better.

Here is some useful information on the NZ political parties.

Their National Party is in the same political position as our Conservative Party.

New Zealand seems like a lovely place, but I’d avoid the area around Isengard.
So, how does one go about migrating there??
I’m not so sure I would agree with some of the placings put out on the compass, in respect to more than just the NZ elections, their idea of where the dividing line between authoritarian, libertarian and left, right center seems to be viewed from a long way on the left. Note where they almost always put the greens, bit of a give away that one, just ever so slightly libertarian and left of centre, same with the marxists, but the crony capitalists are all way over the far right authoritarian side of center. They even have Camerons fake conservatives over there, which belong the other side of the center line completely.
Here in Canada we are presently governed federally by CONSERVATIVES with prime Minister STEPHEN HARPER THE LEADER.
BEST AND smartest LEADER Canada HAS HAD IN MY LIFETIME HERE IN CANADA!
MARCHES TO HIS OWN DRUM, will avoid the global warmist gathering today and GOOD ON HIM!
AND I AM WITH HARPER, ALWAYS!
JOE MOLNAR, WOODSTOCK, ONTARIO, CANADA.
After working in Australia on a working-holiday visa, I considered doing the same in New Zealand, which grants the visa to people up to age 35. Then I remembered that most Kiwis I’ve met had left their country to work across the Tasman Sea in Australia.
Left NZ 1985, basketcase economically.
Commonsense is near extinct in cities.
What they call conservative we know as progressives.
Remember how Mulroney paraded around NZ politicians to sell us the GST?
Ditto Allen,Rocks for brains and the Long Gun Registry.
Beautiful country but totally FUBAR politically.
Best example is Christchurch, the earthquake was an act of nature, the government “help” has been a disaster.
if you’d let me keep and use my guns, i’d move there when i retire.
Excellent. Could be comment of the year material! I tip my hat and offer a toast.
John
Although it was 29 years ago I can understand your comments, however in defence of my new home, one of the things that drew me, 4million people, it is just not possible to have a big government, by default 2million are either too young or old to work. What else? Well if you don’t get off your ass and do something you are screwed, because no one is going to do it for you and I like that. I like that everyones first question is “and who is going to pay for that? “ The younger ones I work with are particularly refreshing, unlike Europe where the attitude is entitlement, almost all of them can see those that are entitled and basically want to get away from that or at least they are having conversations about it and questioning why it is so. I find the older people to be the few fruitcakes that I’ve met, maybe thats why the marxists are running out of votes, could be demographics?
Economy is not such a basket case these days, I think the awful truth finally hit home a few years ago (The last one Helen Clarke generally being a laughing stock makes me wonder who in the hell ever voted for them). This country has to export, and it has only got limited resources, agriculture and oil. Its never going to be an industrial powerhouse, its geography denies it that, so being nice to the two forms of income becomes sort of necessary.
Notice the collapse of the green votes, reality is a bitch and those cold antarctic winds help with that, plus the inconvenient truth Kiwis love the internal combustion engine and as you will know travelling over here is kinda always going to be dependant on oil, and kiwis do travel and love travelling because even the 2 big cities are only really small.
Oh and the mess that is Christchurch, just makes everyone more aware of how pathetic government is at doing stuff and hopefully has helped people learn that they need to be vigilant and hold them accountable.
Cities yea I hear you, but is that ever the same anywhere in the world?
Kiwis going to Aus, as they say its a win win increasing the net intelligence of both countries 😉
I like it though, I like the “can do and she’ll be right” attitude and I like the fact that hunting fishing and outdoors is the way of life, I’ve met and seen a lot of Expats from Europe in general, they either love it or hate it and move, those that stay seem to be those that are or have been country folk and or those that are religious and have judeau/christian morals, those types do tend to bring with them the right attitude to governance, and increasingly don’t want to see their new country descend into the mess the ones they left behind are in.
I think it bodes well for the future and while its far from perfect, given some of the insurmountable problems that other places have I’m more than happy to have made my bed here.
Thanks Adrian, interesting update.
I have been kept up to speed thanks to family spread throughout NZ, but the return to sanity has been slow and painful.
Nice to see how free the Country seems from an European? POV.
The greys are dying off?
That seems too good to be true.As regulation and manipulation were the only growth industries in the countries.
So what do all the useless feeders do now?
What do all the useless feeders do now?
Either return tickets or go to Aus where hopefully now they have seen sense and elected Mr Abbott they will eventually get the same treatment.
