  1. Ezra gives one of the best summations of the ‘inquiry issue’:
A tragedy that doesn’t cry for an inquiry By EZRA LEVANT
TORONTO – A public inquiry is a useful tool when there are big public questions to be answered that need the power of a judge the power to subpoena recalcitrant witnesses, the power to cross-examine witnesses under oath, the power to challenge a branch of government.
None of which applies to the tragedy of missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada.

  3. from the article: “Instead of listening, instead of heeding the demands of the international community and the rules of the international order, at every step, Russia has come before this Council to say everything except the truth,” said Samantha Power, the United States ambassador (to the United Nations). “It has manipulated. It has obfuscated. It has outright lied. So we have learned to measure Russia by its actions and not by its words.”
Obama’s people are just learning this now? When I was in High School, taking Ukrainian history; in University, taking Eastern European History and political science; and years later in many courses with the Canadian Forces, the one lesson I learned beyond all else: “NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER trust the Russians”.
The only thing you can trust with the Russians is that the ONLY way to make them back down is with force. No amount of sanctions will stop or slow them. Putin considers himself a new Stalin, and he had no problem killing millions of his own people to achieve his aims.

  4. Cute comment @ powerline about the left’s dissolution with Obama
‘Boy, these progressives sure are impatient. Rome wasn’t sacked in a day, you know. Obama just needs more time to complete the destruction. Patience, parasites!’

  5. Beneath the capital’s busy streets, archaeologists are discovering the buried world of the Aztecs
Throughout downtown Mexico City, archaeologists have found some 40,000 artifacts, including mirrors made of shiny obsidian, Pacific turtle shells that were much-prized by the Aztecs, and precious jade-and-turquoise masks, all of which attest to the empire’s wealth. Other objects—mollusk shells from the Pacific, Caribbean shark teeth, jade from southern Mexico—have given researchers a richer understanding of the prosperity of trade ties forged by the Aztecs under the emperor Moctezuma’s fierce predecessor, Ahuítzotl, who ruled from 1486 to 1502.

“Japan Fearing Toilet Paper Panic Makes Stockpiling Plea”
“Japan’s bureaucrats don’t want the nation to be caught with its pants down the next time toilet paper supplies run short after a natural disaster.
That’s why the government is rolling out its latest public-awareness campaign, entitled “Let’s Stockpile Toilet Paper,” which involves an exhibition on the topic at the trade ministry, a summit of industry leaders and the sale of specially packaged “emergency use” toilet tissue.
The campaign, conducted in cooperation with the Japan Household Paper Industry Association, is part of the ministry’s “toilet paper supply continuity plan,”…”

“”Taupe and change,” says one tweet. “The audacity of taupe,” says another, tweaking the title of one of Obama’s best-selling books.

Russian “Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that lists of Russian military units circulating on the Internet are fake. Russia has previously admitted that 10 of its paratroopers were captured in Ukraine, but said they were there because they wandered into the country by mistake.” Sure, anybody with any military experience knows better.

Hasan’s attorney, John Galligan, said the letter “underscores how much of his life, actions and mental thought process are driven by religious zeal. And it also reinforces my belief that the military judge committed reversible error by prohibiting Major Hasan from both testifying and arguing…how his religious beliefs” motivated his actions during the shooting.
