The panic stricken municipal council member would probably set up the next two speakers with a private chat before the meeting. He would recognize these council members were weak, ignorant ,or easily impressed. With three votes in hand he knew the Mayor would crumble. Naturally the dissenting voter would be blind sided and the Mayor wouldn’t call him to speak until all of the others had declared their position publicly.
Th dissenter had to face down the original panic stricken mover right after the gutless seconder spoke. Then the Mayor might have developed cojones. Probably not,but the S.B.T. probably latent, might not have fallen into line.
In any case, these clowns should spend ten minutes listening to someone who lived behind the “iron Curtain” before they present their sad self-satisfying opinions in Council Chambers again.

Wow… Ezra keyed in on this by noticing that this small city video tapes their proceedings, but talk about a bunch of folks who absolutely LOVE the sound of their own voice. I find that quality in people highly noxious to the point where I will have nothing to do with them. Whenever I see someone with that snooty, looking down the bridge of their nose posture, I leave the general vicinity. Because I know that they are about to say something that starts with “We all must admit…” which would cause me to kick them in the nuts.
Oh and by the way, the main guy who introduced the motion… totally fake accent. He’s putting it on.

Since Ezra can’t be relied on to give an accurate take on the issue, can someone tell me what’s happening here? Did the council preclude *all* religious use of public facilities or just Christian ones? Or do they have to pay the normal rate of use?
It’s rather ironic that the harder they push their lifestyle, the more I’m starting to dislike the whole gay movement. It’s gone well past acceptance and has moved into the love us or else territory, and I liked them better when they were in the closet, before they became loud and proud. Proud of what ? Loud I can understand,as less than 3% of the population always has to yell to be heard by politicians. Never have we gone so far out of our way to celebrate crossed wires in the brain and push it as normal. Never has the tip of the tail wagged the dog to this extent, and never has a group tried so hard to alienate that portion of mainstream society that differs with their moral standards. There will be a backlash just like support went up for Chick-fil-a and Duck dynasty when they overestimate the public support for their cause. Political correctness has a expiry date and can only survive in the peak of good times. I believe Nanaimo city council will get a taste of that expiry date. My donation to Ezra is on its way.

So….in that regard. Muslims, Jews, Hindus and any other religious group would be barred for ever using the facility. Boy Scouts not allowed….they don’t allow seniors to join. Girls Guides not allowed….same reason. Girls Hockey Tournament — doesn’t allow boys teams (divisive). Knights of Columbus not allowed (don’t allow non-Catholics to join). Get the drift idiot. Where does it end. If I as a councillor think a pro-gay group is divisive then they wouldn’t be allowed to rent the facility. If they call someone else a homophobe then that is ‘divisive’ isn’t it?

My guess is that legal fees won’t be a problem – thanks to Ezra.
Ezra is occasionally more than little grating because he needs to get an hour’s worth of air time from ten minutes of dynamite material.
However, this is easy to forgive because no other journalist in the country has the cojones to take on this story or a fraud like Suzuki. It will be interesting to see when and if any other news organization picks up this story.

All in all this was a classic FlusterCluck – An hysterical progressive “moral” panic.

This motion was hastily presented and ill conceived. I had zero knowledge of this until I arrived at the council table. And that was recorded as 4:33. Three minutes late. The meeting was underway. I was not prepped or apprised of this motion coming forward or its consequences.
All that said, a very I’ll conceived motion and poor decision on my part. Ignorance, naivety no excuse. I truly hope this motion will be rescinded and replaced with a non discriminatory motion. Thank you

disclaimer: I enjoy Chic-Fil-A when I was in Texas and I also shopped at Hobby Lobby too. I was occasionally inconvenienced because both these companies are closed on Sundays to give employees time with there families but respected their business model.
