  1. Yikes!
    But hey – general rule of thumb for the subject of that woman’s ire: never get between a Mum and her kids. I have a black bear that keeps revisiting my garden bird feeders lately. I’m sure as hell not going out there to find out the hard way she’s a Mama bear with cubs.
    Loved the way that transit official (?) in the vest jumped right in to control the situation.
    Not.
    Official uselessness like that is yet another reason to avoid public transit whenever possible.

  4. JJM, yeah I thought the Official guy was very effective too. Powerful, the way he stood there with his hands at his sides like a giant, fatty slab of mutton.
    In fairness to Mr. Mutton, it is kinda hard to disengage a cow the size of the one there from punching somebody when her blood is up like that. You could pull her head back by the hair and she wouldn’t even feel it. Kidney punch and a kick in both knees might do it, but then Mr. Mutton would get the penalty box for roughing. Short of a taser AND pepper spray, that’s a runaway train.
    Although, it would have gone better if all the men on the bus had brushed Mr. Mutton out of the way, grabbed Ms. Holstein there and tossed her face-first into the ditch. That would have happened in the 1960’s I think, now not so much.
    Because = penalty box for roughing.

  5. The other problem is we don’t really know what happened here. Is it a case of a woman just being nuts?
    Or did the. er, subject of the beating do something to her children that appeared to threaten them? In which case, “fat lowlife” or not, it would be understandable that any mother would become agitated, if not, frantic.

  8. The guy in the vest is the driver, and they’re specifically trained to NOT intervene, but to call dispatch and have them send people to deal with problems. Their responsibility is to drive the bus and ONLY drive the bus.

    The Mother was sitting on the bus when the other woman entered,refused to pay the fare,argued and swore at the driver.The mother told her to watch her language,the OW then threatened to kill her kids and threw a drink in her daughter’s face.
    They left the bus,the OW attacked the Mother,kicked her two year old daughter in the back,knocked her four year old down, pulled a knife, but ran off.Cops arrested her, known to police,she’s been charged with multiple offences.

  10. If this is the same story I’m reading about then the story I’ve read about this incident goes something like this:
    The lady getting pummelled (Lady A) refused to pay her bus fare. The driver refused her service. After a long delay the lady doing the pummelling (Lady B) intervened and (probably not politely) told Lady A to get off the bus. Lady A then uttered threats against Lady B and her children (4yrs, 2 yrs and ???). Lady A then pushed the 4yr old down, kicked the 2yr old down and (allegedly) drew a weapon (knife of some sort) to confront Lady B (AKA – Mama Bear). Lady B then took matters into her own hands (see video).
    If this is a true account, I side completely with Mama Bear. I completely excuse the transit “official” for not intervening. I would have done the same thing. Unless they were my children… in which case they wouldn’t have video of this incident and they wouldn’t find Lady A. Ever.

  12. Edward Teach and Just A Guy. I do hold the driver, and other men on the bus, responsible.
    The driver’s job may be to only drive the bus but a citizens duty is to step up. He, and the other men, should have acted like what once was a proper citizen.
    Our new penchant for running away is what leads to 5 people getting stabbed to death. Wouldn’t have happened 30 years ago when men were Men because the perpetrator would have been beaten badly. Alas, few have the stones to step up so expect more innocent people to pay the price.
    Our sense of honor and decency has degraded to the point of non-existence. We might be able to slowly fix that by never ever voting for a Progressive.

I hear this talk about momma bear, let me say momma bear is the first line of defence, if she can’t handle it , (i can only speak for myself) look out because when papa bear gets involved there will be blood shed and even lives lost in defence of my life,my kids lives,and momma bear. No matter how fat this lady is or her social status she did what any good loving mother would do!!
    I am sure that little thug is very lucky daddy was not there. There would be less noise,and more blood!!! It’s how I roll!!
    And phantom is right , in that situation you are not going to stop the mom with punches or kicks, she is full on fight or flight mode and ain’t going anywhere until the threat is eliminated period!! As a man you stay back out of her way to handle it, if she can’t then you handle it. But lemmi tell yeah queen of the momma bears Sarah palin knows what’s up, I bet with out question she would pound the crap out of most women and do it with a smile on her face. Make no mistake Sarah PUts on a smile but I am sure it took everything in her to not pound in the Hollywood ,media elites after they made fun of her kids Ect Ect.

    Momma bear was just protecting her children. Good for her, and she is not a cow, as that is a derogatory term for a mom protecting her children.

    Yeah berserkers have alas been a problem….
    There is a tactic to Christianize the situation but I will not divulge…..I pulled it off once, instinctively, but that was about 30+ years back and I wuz a lot younger. Now it would be my head writin’ cheques me body can’t cash.
    Yeah a tazer would have pacified the pair of them and soiled their drawers…..hee hee.

  18. I feel for the woman and her children but really you should mind your business if you’re stuck riding the bus. Crazy people acting out are volatile as hell and no good can come out of getting involved. If you need to defend someone then by all means step up but to get in the middle of a fare dispute is just silly. As for mutton boy in the vest, I’ll try to remember that if I’m ever on the bus and someone attacks the driver.

  20. You may not agree with it, but that is how bus drivers are instructed to handle situations such as this one. BC Transit or Trannylink or whatever it the hell it is called adopted this policy some years ago, and I believe it started in Seattle. The thinking being that the way to keep drivers safe is to keep them OUT of the line of fire. They’re not cops or referees or adjudicators, and if one is needed, one can be dispatched.

  21. Oh, Ms. Holstein is the Good Guy? I couldn’t get that from the video, all I see there is Ms. Holstein going to town on some woman. I assumed wrong. See what happens?
    My apologies to Ms. Holstein then. Proper action would be for several men to throw the -other- beeotch off the bus. Taser and pepper spray optional, the other broad doesn’t look like much of a problem.

    Yes they are trained that way, and as outlined above, its a mistake. The only people who know what’s going on are the ones at the scene when it all starts up. Any newcomer will, like I just did, assume whoever is winning the fist fight is the bad guy and just taser them.
    Training people to “wait for the proper authorities” is a totalitarian police state policy AND a union job protection policy. Electricians don’t carry ladders, laborers do. Bus drivers don’t toss non-paying passengers off, cops do. Because = union rules.
    Common citizens don’t separate berserk fat women and toss miscreants into the ditch, only Sooper Dooper Cops with sooper dooper cop equipment and training and stuff can do that. Because PEOPLE ARE STUPID AND MUST BE CONTROLLED. If you let just -anybody- break up a stupid fight or catch a shoplifter, the lowlife commoners will start getting ideas and putting on airs, y’know.

  23. Proof again that a portion of the population should be allowed to ‘pack’ ie. – Concealed carry!
    In order to dispense with the BS FAC rules just arm the conservatives. Easy enough, after all they are of sound mind and have been taking care of most things including Liberals and the undecided folks for a long, long time. I would guess that the people that are beaten up while riding, oh, say Greyhound, or any of the LRT cars across the country, or those that happen to be caught in a potentially perilous situation would be glad to have an individual or two, to just kind of equal out the odds.
    I understand that the Liberals will howl like Hell, but so be it. Their solutions have never worked.
