Your Moral And Intellectual Superiors

Dear Borg member,

The CBC is calling for a national discussion about its future. Like any other citizen in this country, you have the right to be heard in this ongoing discussion about CBC, and you can share your views about the public broadcaster with your friends, neighbours and people in your community.
As a CBC employee, you have a unique understanding of our national public broadcaster and its place in Canada. It’s important any public comments do not reflect negatively on the Corporation…

  1. “We are the CBC. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.”

  2. “As a CBC employee, you have a unique understanding of our national public broadcaster and its place in Canada.”
I disagree, you may have the “unique” perspective of an employee, but as members of that cloistered cult, you have no idea of the CBC’s “place” in Canada.
And you have no idea how CBC is really perceived by the average Canadian, you know, the people outside your little community, the people who are forced to pay taxes so you can have a way above average paid job.
It’s time the ratings for every CBC program were posted on the internet so taxpayers can see how well CBC is being managed. We are the (forced) supporters of the “glue that binds” etc., so let’s see how our corporation is performing. I assume you have nothing to hide.
If CBC disappeared from the face of the earth tomorrow at 6 AM Eastern Time, 3 AM Pacific, and 9:37 in Newfoundland, no one would notice.

  3. “It’s important any public comments do not reflect negatively on the Corporation…”
    Typical mentality of socialist bureaucracy.

  4. Translation: You are free to say anything you want, so long as it’s what we tell you to say. Here’s a flyer explaining what that is.

  5. the ONE BILLION DOLLARS per year tax dollars doled out to the CBC would be much better invested in the Osoyoos FIRST NATION BAND HEADED UP BY CHIEF CLARENCE LOUIE.
Louie would know exactly how to use the money to build a FOR PROFIT MEDICAL Diagnostic CENTRE AND PERHAPS EVEN A World Class Hip & Knee Replacement Hospital to shorten the wait times, for those still waiting on the Governments bureaucratic bloated system.

  6. “…you have the right to be heard in this ongoing discussion about CBC”
Unless, of course, you have a negative comment.
Hilarious – how can someone seriously write this stuff?

  7. “asking for a commitment to make CBC strong again”
Hmm.. When was CBC Strong..1950/1970s If the on-air folks are all equally UNDERPAID ~85K (Manbridge) they have been stuck in a Socialist vortex, agenda driven, but that doesn’t promote talent.
How the Hell do they lose 1 billion year after year, are they funding North Korea or Cuba?

  8. The CBC is just like JT you have to be pro abortion to be LIEberal.
To make a comment about the CBC you need to be a CBC cheerleader.
Perhaps we can just close the circle and summarize LIEberal policy:
    ABORT the CBC.
    Cheers
    Hans Rupprecht Commander in Chief
    1st Saint Nicolaas Army
    Army Group “True North”

  9. “polls show a majority of Canadians..”
Notice there is no link to these polls.
Like the religion of peace, once you OK lying to select groups, it gets hard not to lie to everyone, as if by compulsion.

  10. I believe losing the CBC would be noticed, but noticed in the same way a vacuum packed wedding dress goes missing.

  11. Joe, that’s a fantastic plan but you wouldn’t want to taint the enterprise with government-stolen loot (he who pays the piper….). If the Chief has a good business plan and he can keep the Feds from putting the Kibosh on it, he should seek private investment for partnering. Remember that IR land is Federal Crown land held in trust for but not owned by the apartheid collective that resides there. In BC, I think only the Nisga’a have (newly created) private property rights.

  12. It’s important any public comments do not reflect negatively on the Corporation…
I think they do that nightly by just broadcasting their special message of Marxism.
While avoiding any real news. Than championing political characters they like. Its not public broadcasting, its a propaganda mill for news.

  13. You’re right,I didn’t know or notice that CBC had gone on strike! When WAS that?
They have yet to disclose the salaries of all their “stars” or even the rest of the cast,as any publicly funded organization should. I’d bet Mansbridge gets at least a half million per year.
It was disclosed that Tony Parsons, when he was chief newsreader at BCTV in the 1990’s, was paid $400,000+ per year as he had the top rated newscast in Western Canada.
I doubt CBC superstar Mansbridge gets less.

  14. “deep job cuts at the CBC also seriously damage efforts to diversify the workplace.”
CBC may have to hire people based on their qualifications rather than their place on the ‘victim’ pole.
Another sign that PM Harper only cares about oil companies, or something like that.

  15. Previous post alluded to a simularity to Justin Trudeau. I would agree totally with that sentiment because neither of them can be taken seriously for what they pretend to be.
The CBC contrary to its mandate will cut service in the regions outside of MTV where they should be providing a service…albeit a service we can do very well without.
Hell I would consider (consider not agree) to change that bureaucracy by closing about half a dozen public agencies involved in programing content production and other plethoria of tax dollar give aways for the “arts” and mandate that CBC change its mandate to facilitating private markets where currently none exist. Barring that and the fact the arts community, unions, occupy, raging grannies, and the rentamob courtesy of Maude Barlowe and Margret Atwood etc etc would threaten to shut the country down with staged protests, a bazillion hashtag creations, and a smelly hippie sit-in in all major and midsized cities, and would never agree to any such change its highly unlikely it would happen.
So sell the blamed thing already and let’s be done with it.

  16. The CBC has long been an elitist entity that knows no bounds when it comes to shilling for it’s “progressive” partners on the left. It is now too far removed from the everyday realities of Canada and it’s citizens to be of any practical use to either. The best thing the CBC can do for Canadians is to sell off it’s assets, desist and save us some tax dollars.

  17. “It’s important any public comments do not reflect negatively on the Corporation…”
    Yet, 3 sentences later, this appears;
” I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, I will never gag someone or prevent a CBC/Radio-Canada employee from having an opinion, whether it conforms to or is different from mine.” — Hubert LaCroix.
Mind-boggling,apparently the left hand did not know what the other left hand was writing.
There is a survey that you can take at the CBC site.
    http://www.cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/explore/strategies/survey/
The CBC will be using this survey to show that Canadians care about the CBC.
However, the results will be severely skewed. The survey will only be noticed by those who watch the CBC or stumbled upon it.
It would be the same as walking into a pub and asking people drinking Guinness what they thought of the fine beverage and then extrapolating those answers to everyone in the place.

  18. The CBC is redundant given that its broadcast competition has adopted the same watermelon perspective. It exists as a Shrine to the enslavement of taxpayers and thoroughly worshiped by the institutional left who rejoice in how it reinforces their narratives while continually insulting their political enemies forced to subsidize it and who, even when in power are politically neutered when it comes to dealing with it. How could the left ever have a better gift that keeps on giving like the CBC?

  19. I used to be a big fan of the CBC. I watched CBC tv and I listened to CBC radio everyday. However over the last 5 years or so I’ve noticed that the CBC didn’t reflect my views anymore, it did not represent me anymore. I am a right wing male, but CBC programming is primarily aimed at left wing females. So I am not in their demographic anymore.
I don’t know, but I think right wing males make up a fairly significant part of the Canadian population. And the brilliant strategy of only selling to left wing females has been shown to be a great success so far. Lol!
Right wing males, ignore them at your peril CBC.
    cheers

  20. John at 7:33 hit it. I just finished another “InCanada” poll which basically is the cbc polling to see who watches what. I enjoy filling in all the “never watched” columns for their shows. I am surprised they keep sending these so called surveys every few months.

  21. LOL! “[CBC] polls show a majority of Canadians support the CBC…”
