If the term “squirrel accord” has you thinking of a bunch of woodland creatures walking around wearing stovepipe hats and discussing what to do about this autumn’s chestnut shortage, then banish the thought and replace it with a vision of members of the royal family and government officials talking about how many cages they would need in order to undertake “targeted and sustained action” against grey squirrels.

Any subject relating to nuts seems to have Charles in the forefront.
The red squirrel is a nasty little brute, and the grey squirrel is simply better at squirreling. Think of it as evolution in action.
And the grey is bigger, so there’s more to eat.

Actually the grey squirrel are lazy layabouts compared to the red squirrel. Plus as pointed out earlier, they are larger and tastier.

Yeah, he doesn’t see the irony of the Sharia grey squirrel immigrants forcing out the indigenous blonde and red squirrels.
We try to make our bird feeders inaccessible to squirrels, but when the finally figure it out or they begin stripping the young leaves off of our elms they end up going to that tree in the sky with Ruger and my help . They also sometimes get nabbed by our collie who loves to hunt them.
However, Chaahles is still an AGW nutter.
No matter how the media tries to spin it, I suspect the Queen is hanging on to prevent her moonbat son from ever ascending to the throne in favour of her grandson William. Elizabeth has kept the monarchy neutral in political infighting, never taking sides, while Charles has shown no such inhibition. This will be the undoing of the monarchy as Charles alienates significant portions of the commonwealth. On a brighter note the longer the Queen holds on, the less time Charles moonbattery will have to be tolerated before he loses his mental faculties, limiting his ability to harm the monarchy.

An open season on greys won’t help solve the problem because the fascist Brits took everyone’s gun away.
I was going to suggest an irradiation program as well. We use a BB gun to keep the grey population in our garden under control. Squirrels are really rats in furry pajamas, you know.

Greys just completely out compete the reds and also carry a disease that kills the reds.

You see, there are red squirrels and grey squirrels and black squirrels and then there are Spotted Owls and Barred Owls. Perhaps we could save the Spotted owls by bringing them to Scotland where they would feast exclusively on grey squirels. Win – Win.

Squirrels have been in the British Isles for thousands(more?) of years. They are well adapted to the existing ecology. The Grey Squirrels is but a minor variation of the Red Squirrel.
Rabbits introduced into Australia had/have no comparable native counter part and no natural predators in Australia except humans and human brought cats and dogs.
Big differences!
