The Sickness that is Coming

But if we were to extrapolate this trend, one where generations don’t mature, never grow up, and never change, just merely get older, the country is in for a world of hurt. For while I can’t believe people in my generation are heading up companies, working their way up the corporate ladders, or are educators and teachers in our schools, what’s coming down the pipe is scary – a mentally infected or diseased generation.

  1. I do not understand why Capt Capitalism restricts his concern to the 20’s young people. I suggest my Boomer generation should carry more than its fair share of what we now witness. It was our generation that racked up the debt faced today and it is our generation that is now running the world not the 20 year olds.
Our parents gifted us a social support network so that we would never suffer their ‘Depression’ but in the process did not enforce a fiscal discipline that recognized the costs involved in maintaining that safety net. Boomers, as mature adults, never dealt with the growing wish list that citizens wanted and simply kicked the can of accountability down the road.
Suggesting that today’s youth is a write off is like saying a corporation fails because of its workers being lazy or unmotivated. It is all about leadership and my generation has failed. We let those that could bribe us with our own tax dollars and our credit to create a self perpetuating ruling class that exploit current ignorance.

  2. Your points are very valid and lead into this generation. Who raised this Me generation on steroids? They did and when they are older, their snowflake generation will be unwilling and then incapable of caring for them.

  3. I recall those heady days of university, in the 60’s…..sitting around discussing the ways to improve the world.
I recall the lefties wet dreams….when confronted with the reality that the population would not adopt that…..their response was….”Then they will be forced.”
Bill Ayers was not unique….remember he foresaw that a quarter of the US population needed to be killed.
It always devolves to that….these do-gooders deliberately slaughtered millions during the 20th century and the butchers’ bill is not yet complete.

  4. The Nanny state delivers a spoiled society and it’s temper tantrums are really gaining steam.
Never, ever, vote Progressive. They will care you to death (as they rob you of wealth and liberty)

  5. The problem is these 20 somethings want a totalitarian state and will vote and work for one to be implemented. The captain is wrong that this ends in economic collapse. The soviet union was in “economic collapse” for more than 30 years before it imploded. This only ends when we rise up and fight it.

  6. Another home run for the Captain. There is some question as the whether this is a generational thing with defined lines or whether the left has been winning the battle by stealth in all age groups since the 60’s. Once they dominated the education system, they had a clear path to their idea of a socialist nirvana and social science/women’s studies/victims studies graduates flood the streets with a new batch every year. With tenure for the socialist professors there was (is) no way to stop the onslaught of brainwashed student hordes that now dominate society. The results can be seen in almost every College and University and they continue to spread the disease on a yearly basis with every graduation ceremony. I’m not talking about stem course graduates, just the other easy riders, the drones, the majority.

  7. I’m pretty sure adults in the 1920’s were looking at the youth of the day and saying exactly the same thing. I know for a fact that my parents were saying it in the ’60’s. I’d be far more concerned about anger than stupidity. Wait until these kids find out that they can’t live the same lifestyle as their parents and worse, that all the liberal preaching they’ve had to listen to all through school, is pure bullshit.

  8. “The problem is these 20 somethings want a totalitarian state and will vote and work for one to be implemented.”
And we sit around and wonder why the IRS “scandal” doesn’t result in impeachment. Because it’s not a “scandal” to many people, people who want the totalitarian state to happen.
It isn’t just 20 somethings, either. There are plenty of people that are older that are rubbing their hands with glee when things like this happen.

  9. I figure every generation has this same opinion of the next…..
But we may be the first to be right.

  10. Sadly, many of the STEM grads are also infected. They have technical skills but their thoughts on politics and personal freedom and responsibilities are pretty much the same as those of the gender studies types.
About all we can hope for here is that they will come around as they see the confiscatory tax rates hit their higher incomes: when they see how much their B.S. costs, they may start to think differently.
In my previous job, I was in a cube farm surrounded by young computer science and electronics engineering types. Technically, they were brilliant. Politically, they all wanted to be the girl in the room that night at 787 Dundas St W.

  11. Having talked at length with my parents and grandparents I can only say that no, every generation does not
have the same opinion of the next.

  12. “they’re the same idiots and morons they were back in the 90’s when they were in their 20’s. They did not mature, they just got older, and really have no clue what they’re doing.”
I agree that an MBA only taught them how to convert an existing Company assets into self serving financial gain. They don’t know how to build or maintain a successful Company. It is not by accident that todays companies depend on the toy buying public, the product having a demand curve measured in months.. obsolete junk in a wink..
    JMHO

  13. Artsman! While you were sitting around discussing the world, I was in a lab!!!
We got our own back in the summers, though, as most of us got good summer jobs, some even in labs, while
the Arts types could only find work in steam laundries (this in Ottawa, which resembles a steam laundry
    during the summer anyway).

  14. Dad used to say “Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations” Dadwas right.

  15. “I suggest my Boomer generation should carry more than its fair share of what we now witness.”
Bang On! The Nucleus. The Genesis of all that is wrong.
And surprisingly, the Boomers were raised by the Greatest Generation Ever.

  16. Cappy has skillfully summarized what many of us have felt in our guts for some time. The question for any teens still in possession of a functioning mind, is how to thrive in their world. For girls, the key will be a pretty face, large breasts and athleticism, because their world will revolve around a pole. For the boys, a motorcycle, a sleeping bag, skills in motor mechanics, and abiity to live like a savage will be key.
The succesful girls will find themselves a seat on said motorcycle.
Radical sure, but in your heart, you know I’m right.

  17. peterj nails it at 3:21 pm.
Most of you have read my comments about the a retired teacher friend in Ontario and my deceased teacher step-brother who both met communists in the classes during their teacher training in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
They have done a remarkable job of filling our entire educational system.

  18. How ya gonna keep ’em down on the farm?. deploring the state of the up and coming generation is an ancient trope.
time for a little faith in human nature. Pajama boy and his metrosexual ilk are not going to win for the simple reason that their almost female need for control and decorum will alienate the majority of their cohort.(The males anyway)
I see it now with my sons and their peers . early twenties , indoctrinated by BCTF talking points like the noble Indians, white privilege and social justice. They are 4 years out of school and their total rejection of the progressive agenda is quite heart warming, sure some will continue to drink the cool-aid but the majority will shake off the bull crap spread by ideological teachings and do very well.

  19. Hope you are right nick.
I am in the late fall of my life and I disrepair for my children and grandchildren. Our family went through this crap once before when Uncle Joe thought he knew best.
