Back in January, when I published this, I didn’t think it would garner the attention it did.

Rex took that stick and with it poked a hornet’s nest. Good on ‘im.
Great Job Rex!
As a member of the oil field I have a very short leash, but my family appreciates Canadians like you.
Rex is discovering what happens when you question Marxism in its new religious environmental form.
Hopefully he continues to give them both barrels.
Rex makes me proud to be a Newfoundlander (as if I needed a reason).
Wow, not near enough of that sentiment nowadays.
Thanks for posting Lance.
One of the very few honest, unbrainwashed commentators affiliated with the CBC. If there were more like Rex this global warming scam would lose traction in a hurry. The admiration I have for the man is balanced by the disdain I have for his peers.
Well, as a general proposition, I can very much handle Rex’s commentary (variously accolades or indictment), whichever way it goes, which is no favour to our lot or anybody else’s.
But I do think that Justin Pierre Trudeau needs to pay back the $277,000 or so that he took from Ontario taxpayers for “speaking engagements” — at high schools, colleges, universities, etc. (so-called “transfer partners” of the unforgivably corrupt outfit that will run the Province of Ontario for the next few days).
The truth about that is very simple: Rex sees the future; Justin Pierre and his ilk see the past.
Plus, Rex is at least fifty times the speaker Justin Pierre is. On a bad day.
I thought Rex was from Saskatchewan, but he does have an odd accent.
Yes, Rex why is it that we listen to the Elizabeth May blowhards, spewing their ‘save the planet’ rhetoric when they can’t even save themselves?
Somehow mankind should feel guilty about providing products that keep them warm from the elements and power their vehicles so they can feed their families…utter rubbish.
Rex should lay down a verbal tongue lashing more often…
Cheers

In a speculative parlance, I would think Rex would make an excellent PM.
However, two obstructions prevent that from ever happening, one of them being I doubt he would ever want the job, and the second is that the handlers would put him in a cone of silence.
Thanks for these clips Lance, I filed them – Rex ix a national treasure who doesn’t get the credit due him for his precise clarity – possibly his ornate elocution buries it, but he really is the voice of common sense – which is all too uncommon in elite stratas.
“… I have a very short leash …”
Isn’t this part of his point? Speak up!
There is a reason Rex means king.
Also I love the anti Alinskyite tactic of ethical oil vs dirty oil.
We all need to get up in the grills of these blowhard progressive jerks every chance we get.
Doesn’t David Suzuki get paid for his speeches too? Why doesn’t anyone question if his convictions aren’t bought and paid?
May and her ilk have their views informed by Gaia, as revealed to “Moses” Hansen. To disagree with her is therefore both rationally impossible and heretical.
In her warped mind any dissenting view HAS TO BE influenced by Satan – or failing that by Big Oil or Big Coal.
In reference to picking blueberries, “Don’t pick the red ones; they’s green!” (One of my favourite Newfie expresions.)
Or, restated in Albertese, “Don’t bother with the Greens; they’s Reds!”
If i was there giving that speech i would have chastised the mayor and the premier and applauded Danielle Smith. I would have rubbed the mayors face in his own shit by calling him out on funding anti oil sand’s university’s , And RedFraud for being such a traitor.
The Left has simply returned to their default position, which is “SHUT UP!!!!” This is due to the fact that they have no arguments left, no policies, no excuses. After 75+ years of Liberal Party socialism, unfettered and unchecked, having gotten every single concession and tax and regulation and fine and contribution they ever asked for… well here we are, aren’t we?
No worker’s paradise, this.
Therefore, “SHUT UP!” is all that’s left in the basket.
At the end of his column Rex says “Those who seek to shut me up on this, or any other subject, will need more than a few vicious blog posts. They’ll need a stick.”
Yes. And you may be sure, they’re feeling around for one right now. Because when your Leftists exhaust the possibilities of screaming “SHUT UUUUUP!” at everyone, and the ones who just won’t cooperate with the slavery are identified, the last refuge is thuggery.
See Ukraine and Syria for details, and plan accordingly.
I’ll say one thing. If you sneeze on an oil and gas lease, you better be able to account for any snot that hits the ground.
Painting the Canadian oil sector as big companies that don’t care is the most retarded idea that can come out of a person’s mouth.
Right in every word, Phantom. From the vacuousness of the science in AR5, to the hysterical nonsense of Lewandowsky, to the libel suits of Michael Mann, they have no rebuttal to the criticisms except “shut up”. The intellectual war of ideas is essentially over; the theological war against insane beliefs however has only begun.
Too much truth to what you say Phantom – I think you will find confirmation of your observations of leftoid intolerance for dissent in the Agenda 21 companion pamphlet – ” Sustainable America a new Consensus” in it you will see how they have changed the definition of “consensus” to “neutralizing opposition” – this is pure communitarianism as practiced in Maoist Chin, Stalinist Russia and Nazi Germany -all operated on a consensus arrived at bt oppressing opposition.
You’re right, and it’s not new, Occam. The Agenda 21 advocates have been engaging in dissent suppression since after AR2 in the mid-1990s. It didn’t get noticed much then as now because they were still elaborating their scientific case, as subsequently shown in AR3-4.
Dissent suppression is so clearly visible now because AR5 has shown pretty clearly that there’s nothing new to their case. They’ve got nothing except some tree rings and a heap of computer models. AR5 offered up absolutely no new physical evidence of any kind. And dissent suppression became obvious from Climategate tranches 1 and 2 showing just how deeply committed to this tactic they were and are.
