It’s Probably Nothing

Doing the job that Americans won’t do;

IDF forces struck a number of Syrian military and security targets connected to the blast that injured four Israeli soldiers on Tuesday, the IDF Spokesman said early on Wednesday.
The targets, which included military headquarters, artillery batteries and a training base belonging to the Syrian military, “enabled and aided in the carrying out of [Tuesday’s] terror attacks,” the statement read. “The IDF retains the right to act in any way and at any time it sees fit to protect the citizens of Israel.”

  1. The Syrians will understand this non-nuanced approach. They will either retaliate, or back down.
Israel took care of Syria’s nuclear ambitions a few years back. I have no doubt that they will do the same with Iran. Barry may as well commit fully to his golf game, he is the earliest lame duck in the history of the USA.
Hilary winks at him and asks, “May I play through?”

  2. So Harper is the new leader of the Free World, and Israel is the new defender of the Free World. Nature abhors a vacuum, and boy does Obama suck…

  3. I don’t believe a word of it. Why would Syria take a swing at someone who can strike back hard and fast. You don’t think that they have enough trouble on their plate? It doesn’t make sense at all. This was a set up and probably done by the evil american fascist government.

  4. Why should be presume that it was the americans job to do anyway? They created enough carnage in the last decade or so. It’s time for them to go home.

  5. “The IDF retains the right to act in any way and at any time it sees fit to protect the citizens of Israel.”
    Excellent.
Another 1,000 years of ME revenge killings.

  6. And this is precisely The Hollow Man’s Plan.
Let Israel (or anyone else) take care of the world’s problems. ‘bama will tut-tut-tut and scold and make a great talk about threatening global stability, etc., etc.
But, just like Turdo la Doo up here, ‘bama is just a glossed up representative of the “values” of modern western society.

  7. This isn’t America’s job in the first place. This is a task for Israel and Israel alone.

  8. Another 1,000 years of ME revenge killings.
    What is the alternative?
Roll over and take it like a “man”?
You may like that, but many do not.

  9. Probably for much the same reason that Argentina invaded the Falklands.
An attempt to unify his citizens behind him.
“Another 1,000 years of ME revenge killings.”
Actually more like another 1400 years….

  10. Good for the IDF. Though most likely it was Hezbollah operatives that planted the mine.

  11. 9/11 wasn’t an act enacted by us gypsies. It was terrorists, just like those breeding and practicing their trade against the Joos. Wait long enough and they will be over here.

  12. not in some ppl’s mind, fact they don’t exists for some, they think us realists make this sh!t up

  13. Israeli security intelligence is reputedly quite strong. So suspect they got the miscreants who had it coming. Methinks these ongoing attacks on Israel represent a collossal and failed IQ test on the part of the terrorists. Hammer ’em, Israel.

  14. Larry, I’m way ahead of you. 18 years ago a muslim friend of mine warned me about extremists, and how a lot of “moderates” at his mosque supported them.

  15. No, Israel has struck Hezbolla related targets, missile shipments from Syria, or shipped through Syria, since before the Syrian civil war and since. The Israelis have kept to a strict policy of only acting to destroy what it considers advanced weapons transfers to Hezbolla or in response to border incidents.
The Hezzies were furious after the latest Israeli strike in February. While details are not forthcoming about what was hit exactly the Hezzies vowed revenge. The attack from Syria against an Israeli patrol last week was classic hezbolla tactic and worked for them in the past. Ambush patrol, capture solidiers, withdraw. It was a similar attack which started the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbolla.
Fortunately IDF was on spot and responded quickly enough to secure the area and it’s wounded before that could happen.
Assad has only the Iran-Hezbolla lifeline. He does not want full scale war with Israel which would be suicidal at this point. He must maintain his lifeline and therefore allowed this limited attack. His forces met with a bit more than a warning shot this time but nothing even close to full scale battle.
As opposed to the anemic, confusing US response to what is happening in Syria, the Israeli strategy is coherent and everyone can understand it. What Obama should learn is the importance of maintaining credibility and clear vision in the face of uncertainty. That is leadership and sadly we do not have it.
