    The world may not make even 8 Billion people. World pop decline may begin in as little as 30 years. China’s pop to begin declining by 2020.
    Japan is in economic collapse, as is Iran.
    Mexican birth rate has fallen from 7 kids to 2 in last 50 years. (not even the replacement rate.)
    Islam birth rates have collapsed in last 5 years.
    African countries next? Alls it may take is smart phones in the hands of young women. And that is happening.
    So why the fear mongering from Fat Al? Because that is what the ruling class/climate alarmists do. The biggest enabler of the ruling class? Why, the media, of couse.

  10. The birth rate in the world’s mega slums is not declining, that’s the core of the problem. The problem is not Chinese peasants living off the land. It’s the people in the urban mega-slums who can’t feed themselves and breed like rodents.
    Remember back in the 80s when all those celeb do-gooders raised millions for the starving Ethiopians? Most of the money went to arms for warlords to drive people off the land into the cities, where their population has doubled.
    One advantage of global warming and the inexorable rise of sea level is that the coastal mega-slums will very slowly be flooded, the primitive sewage and water systems will mix, and the inevitable plagues will reduce the population.
    Don’t get caught in the collateral damage.

  12. I hate to have to defend Gore because I think he is a climate change opportunist and incredibly dishonest (“politician” says Jack Sparrow) but what he actually said was:
    “Depressing the rate of child mortality, educating girls, empowering women and making fertility management ubiquitously available — so women can choose how many children and the spacing of children — is crucial to the future shape of human civilization,” Gore said on an international panel on global warming last week.”
    Campaigning for more choices for women is entirely different than government commanded population control. That being said, given the company he keeps I don’t think he is being sincere about his desire to give women or anyone else more choice about anything.
    Odd research: one of the things that is a surprising factor in women choosing to have fewer children is access to TV. I won’t vouch for the accuracy of this research because there is so much junk science out there but apparently being exposed to other cultures with affluent women on TV causes changes in fertility rates.
    I considered ignoring North of 60 but his statement is appalling. The statement is virtually identical to Suzuki, Turner and Attenborough except they want to exterminate you with the same cold hatred you want to exterminate the poor. Congratulations, you’re one of them.

He’s far beyond the snake oil salesman and much more dangerous because he has been preaching to young minds and refuses to answer any questions which should be a big red flag.

  16. Certainly looks like we’re headed that way again unless good men stand up and do something. But…the Western world has become soft, lazy and unwilling to lay down their lives for freedom. Lives they will lose anyway. Die on your feet or on your knees, you’re still dead. Seems to me if you’re going to die make the other bastards bleed a little. Don’t make it easy for them.     My observations and facts are that you’re a population control loon like Turner, Attenborough and Suzuki. Your statements are identical in both intent and desired solution. If there is a difference between you and them then simply clear up my misunderstanding. I won’t respond for the reasons stated above but you can set the record straight.

  23. Folks if you are getting your population statistics from the UN you are getting your information from the same outfit that has been trying to sell you on AGW. The world wide human population has been in decline for a couple of decades and no North there are not enough ‘coastal slums’ to counter act the decline. The UN just trots out scary numbers to further their anti human agenda. Don’t fall for it.

  24. For longer than there have been humans on the planet every species has existed in balance with the carrying capacity of their territory. A stone age hunter gatherer needed 10 sq miles per person, a farmer could feed ten with an acre.
    When population growth exceeds the carrying capacity, starvation will restore the population balance in that region. That’s how the planet has worked for billions of years.
    With cheap and abundant petroleum humans can grow enough food to sustain those who do nothing but consume food and breed. Is this wise? Is this good for the individual or humanity? What will happen when petroleum is no longer cheap or abundant?
    Traditionally humans have bread large populations to form armies to conquer more territory. The Muslims are doing it at as effectively now as the Catholics did hundreds of years ago. Unrestrained population growth always leads to war. What evidence do we have that will change?
    Feeding the starving millions in urban mega-slums won’t solve anything and actually makes the problem worse. Don’t meddle, don’t try to play God. Don’t fcuk with nature. Let each group find it’s own balance with regional sustainability.

    If people can produce enough of something of value to buy the food we produce, then good for them. If they can’t they’ll die. Their survival is not our responsibility.

    The Liberal left then say’s that we need to produce more petroleum produced agricultural products and send food to Africa to feed the hungry so that they can produce millions of more starving refugees that we can import into the west.

    If Al gore is serious about “Population Control” then maybe close the doors on Africa. We don’t feed them, and we don’t import them. Africa would then sort itself out in short order.

  39. I’ve spent over a decade travelling through slums of countries in Africa, India, and throughout SEA, if you haven’t spent time in these places you could never understand the enormity of the problem.
    “North of 60” has it right, westerners are meddlers in things they have no comprehension or honest education about. The feel good nuts are doing the business of raping the western taxpayer’s wealth to fund corruption on all sides of the borders for the world’s parasites.
    Canadians and American’s don’t even ask themselves why we give many millions of tax dollars to fight infectious diseases, starvation, and homelessness in countries like India, China, and Pakistan! Each with large nuclear capable armies, working Space Programs, and more billionaires/ millionaires than most of the western countries that fund them.
    What is wrong with that picture?

  49. Many comments slamming population control. Ya’ll need to wake up and smell the coffee. Population control is needed. Yes, technology will allow for survival of 8, 9 or even 10 billion people (or more). But doesn’t that statement of fact really avoid the issues of quality of life, economic systems capable of supplying productive employment for that number, and many other tangential issues that number of people will present. Also, this isn’t the 1930s where even the basis of genetics was poorly understood. There is no reason why humans shouldn’t determine what characteristics are both desirable and heritable …. intelligence or health for examples….. and breed for it. I realize that this will offend the religious among you but I don’t care because I can say that this is God’s will just as easily as you can.

    Dave, I have nothing against “certain types” of pop. control. H3ll, contraception can be considered as one of those types. But the earth can easily support 20 billion ppl with current tech. Mathematical modeling suggests that pop. will level off at about 12B and then start a slow decline. And western society is a good example of the probable accuracy of this model. So all this hype about “control” is nonsense. The slums exist not because of natural causes or because of laziness, but because of “education” and politics.
