We Don’t Need No Stinking Giant Mirrors

BWWAAAHAAAA!

General Electric Co. is permanently scrapping plans to build the largest solar factory in the U.S. near Denver. […]
The factory was to have been bigger than 11 football fields and have an annual capacity of 400 megawatts. State officials said it would create 350 jobs.

Not even cronyism can save it now. (h/t peterj)

  1. Maybe GE could sell the panels to a local Dollar Store and re-sell them as cheap,2 for a buck, bathroom mirrors?

  2. When they make solar panels the size of a dollar,
and sell them for 5 dollars,
    I will buy one..

  3. phunny that, they already do that, U see them as little night lites all over ppl’s properties:-)))
as to GE, I hope some day they fail and file for chapter 11!!!

  4. 350 “green” jobs is significant, but up to 20,000 nasty dirty oil pipeline jobs are a mere “blip”? Thanks for that link, foobert.
What can anyone say about this type of insanity? The sooner Americans impeach this idiot the better off they’ll be.

  5. Following right behind Siemens and BP and Shell down the well-trodden path of solar bankruptcy.

  6. “The sooner Americans impeach this idiot the better off they’ll be.”
Noooooooo….The sooner that happens, the better off the civilized world will be. Fixed it for ya.

  7. Reality check: GE isn’t building the panels because Chinese panels are cheaper.

  8. “Reality check: GE isn’t building the panels because Chinese panels are cheaper.”
True. But that makes GE better or smarter?

  9. 11 football fields? Even if the sun parked directly over Denver 24 hours a day you’d need 50 times that area to even see 400 MW of energy.

  10. When ponzi schemes reach the International level of Government involvement, even the “only” remaining original Dow Jones company has to buy in and make its cronyism last.
    The original effort to try establish a monopoly position with the required light bulbs failed. They then had to stretch their own reality concepts to remain on Presidential advisory councils. It is sad, but wtf it is all part of the reality of maintaining a crony position. Cheers;

  11. GE knows what the game is. Green energy is a sham designed to liberate tax payers from their money and line the pockets of influential Democrats in the US and Liberals in Canada. GE did their part got their grants donated to president zero’s super pac and packed up the works.
Oh and just for reference. Here in the Green energy utopia of Ontario the total output of all of our save the earth solar panels is less than 0.89% of total demand as of 9AM on a bright sunny day. Millions and Millions wasted for 0.89%? Someone needs to be tarred and feathered and run out of Toronto on a rail!
