  1. So, this 16-year-old high-school girl in Florida named Kiera Wilmot, a “good kid” according to her principal, never been in any trouble, mixed some household chemicals together in a small water bottle, “causing the top to pop off, followed by billowing smoke.”
Whoo-hoo! Science projects! I used to love that sort of thi….

She has since been expelled from school and charged with possession and discharge of a weapon on school property (a felony punishable by up to five years in prison) and discharging a destructive device (also a felony punishable by up to five years in prison). Altogether Kiera is facing up to 10 years in prison and a felony criminal record.

I think they’re charging her under Newton’s third law — something about an unequal and opposite overreaction.

  2. “The founders trusted us with this awesome authority…”
Barack Obama in his commencement speech to students at Ohio State University on May 5:

“Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems; some of these same voices also doing their best to gum up the works. They’ll warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices.”

    Associated Press, May 10th:

The Internal Revenue Service inappropriately flagged conservative political groups for additional reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status, a top IRS official said Friday. Organizations were singled out because they included the words “tea party” or “patriot” in their applications for tax-exempt status….In some cases, groups were asked for their list of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases…

  3. Ponder this at length if you will:

The White House held an off-the-record briefing with reporters on Friday afternoon to discuss recent revelations about the Benghazi investigation, sources familiar with the meeting tell POLITICO. The meeting began around 12:45 p.m. and postponed the daily, on-the-record White House press briefing to 1:45 p.m….

  4. They still don’t get it!
Thursday, May 9. Haroon Siddiqui of the Toronto Star on (yawn) the long-form census.
    http://www.thestar.com/opinion/commentary/2013/05/09/canadas_flawed_national_census_siddiqui.html
HS: “The voluntary survey drew a response rate of only 68 per cent, not the 95 per cent and more that the mandatory form routinely elicited. Those who did not respond were most likely those about whom Ottawa most needs the information — aboriginals, low-income people, etc. — to fashion informed public policy.”
One might have thought that those who would allegedly benefit the most from “public policy” would be most interested in providing their information to the census-takers. But apparently not!
Once again, this demonstrates the reality: It’s not really about policies that help anyone, it’s about bums-in-cushy-government-job-seats for the liberal elite, and about spending tax money, come hell or high water. It’s about social engineering, nothing more.
Bravo to PM Harper for his stroke of genius in scrapping the long-form census to screw up the social engineers!

  5. RE: “Il Fait Trop Beau Pour Travailler”
Great video–it’s got that 60’s Euro beat that has disappeared with the days when everyone wore a suit and tie when travelling on a plane.
    Thanks eh!!

  6. Don’t bring grandparents here for welfare, Kenney says. Bring them here for free medicare and old age security ferchrissakes!
What a tool Kenney is. Aside from his usual rant against immigrants abusing the system, there is nothing but cosmetic changes to the damned parent and grandparent sponsorship program.
What will Kenney do? He will raise the required income by 30%. That will show them!
Why hasn’t Kenney scrapped this aberration completely? This is ridiculous. Perhaps I could understand sponsorship of parents, but grandparents? Are you freaking kidding me?
If you consider the average immigrant to be in his thirties, then we’re talking 70+ years for the grandparents. What possible value is there to Canada to be importing a bunch 70+ people past their working years?
Someone should explain to Kenney that the welfare expenses are peanuts compared to what these people cost in medicare and old age security.

  7. Pleated skirts & pleated dresses!!!
A drycleaning silk finishers worst nightmare!!

  8. O’s Trauma.
    NYSlimes’ Friedman writes:
“I guess it’s official now: The term “Arab Spring” has to be retired.”
    …-
    “Gun Shy”
“Whether the or not the administration minimized the account of the attack on Benghazi for political gain, they’ve as good as admitted to it. In fact, Obama’s foreign policy has been traumatized by it. That is reflected, according to the National Journal, in its paralysis toards Syria. “The president, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, and other senior officials continue to be haunted by the lessons of both Iraq and Libya, said this official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.”
Their whole interventionary model has collapsed and they are trapped between watching the world burn and turning their incendiary hoses on it.
While the White House continues to maintain the Libyan events were only a flesh wound, a regrettable incident caused by a mischievous junk moviemaker in LA, their behavior suggests differently. They have been deeply shaken. Writing in the New York Times, Tom Friedman advocates putting the term “Arab Spring” out of its misery. It’s giving winter a bad name.
I guess it’s official now: The term “Arab Spring” has to be retired. There is nothing springlike going on. The broader, but still vaguely hopeful, “Arab Awakening” also no longer seems valid, given all that has been awakened.
Enough already, says Friedman. It’s the Arab inferno, not any sort of spring. It’s a sad end to Obama’s efforts to take credit for it.”

  9. Emergency Neo-AGW PR: Stand back.
    H/T GoreableHansen.CO2@400ppm.org.
AGW has his “15-minute event” fame.
“One more picture, this one doesn’t have much in it, but sure says a lot…”.

“Manitoba community damaged by ice wall”
“A wall of ice in has blown off a lake into Ochre Beach, Man., damaging houses and cottages.”
“At around 6 p.m. Friday night, ice that was about one-metre deep on the lake started moving toward the shore, said Clayton Watts, deputy reeve of the municipality. “We weren’t anticipating anything moving but the winds came up real strong,” he said. “It was a 15-minute event.”

  10. O’richard obama’s Watergate: I am not a crook.
“*People have got to know whether or not their president’s a crook. Well, I’m not a crook.”
    …-
“Has Benghazi become the Obama administration’s Watergate?”
“New reports show that the State Department ‘extensively edited’ talking points about the terrorist attack on the US diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya. Most Americans disapprove of the way President Obama has handled it, presenting the administration with a major political problem.”
“Much of what comes out of political spokesman (and politicians themselves) is spin. But this was about an event in which an American ambassador and others were killed in an apparently preplanned and coordinated attack that revealed failures in intelligence and security preparations.”

  11. ABC, CBS, CNN …connections by marriage to key people in Whitehouse:
“…..CBS News President David Rhodes and ABC News President Ben Sherwood, both of them have siblings that not only work at the White House, that not only work for President Obama, but they work at the NSC on foreign policy issues directly related to Benghazi. Let’s call a spade a spade.
Let’s also show you why CNN did not go very far in covering these hearings because the CNN deputy bureau chief, Virginia Moseley, is married to Hillary Clinton’s deputy, Tom Nides….”

  12. ‘Same reason the Librano$ got/get away with so much. Just three examples of media/Librano connections: Gloria Galloway, Susan where’s-my-hairdresser? Delacourt, and Andrew Coyne have familial and/or marriage connections to the Librano$.
