Reader Tips

In tonight’s entertainment en route to the Tips a group of locals gather in the Ferryman Pub in Dublin, Ireland, for a performance of The Bucks of Oranmore and Come West Along The Road.
And who knows, maybe the bodhran player will put down his instrument and start dancing.
The comments are open, as always, for your Reader Tips.

Thank God — and St. Patrick — for the gift of the gab and for being able to enjoy a pint or ten. We Irish are quick to fight and quick to cry: That’s real life, in case you didn’t know.
Try it. You might like it.

Rayfield sat next to fellow Salon reporter Alex Seitz-Wald in the event. What they did not know was right next to both of them was Patrick Poole, an investigative reporter for the conservative outlet PJ Media.
Breitbart News caught up with Poole on the way out of the event, and he told this reporter that he personally witnessed Rayfield framing her story before the panel discussion she was writing about even began.
“Before the panel discussion, they had already had their posts prepared,” Poole said. “I was sitting directly beside them and she had her article on ‘Islamaphobia is alive and well at CPAC’ post all ready to go.”

  3. Where I grew up, not wearing the colors would result in a punch to the shoulder.
‘Twas a game, back then, and we loved it.
Was like the game “punch buggies” in the car.
(the first one to spot a VW “bug” would call
    STUPID HIPPIE !!!
    And strike.
    I miss those days,

  4. Well, 17/3/1988 was the day when I finally convinced the interviewer to let me into med school. St. Patricks day was always a good excuse to go out drinking with Irish friends except I quickly learned that one doesn’t bring up anything political or religious on such alcohol fueled outings. One memorable St. Paddies day I found out that the black belt on my right was an Irish Catholic and the brown belt to my left was an Orangeman with a subspecialization in street fighting and ancient Celtic animosities quickly surfaced. With rapid application of restraining force by a Ukrainian and Quebecker to the two (as well as quickly ordering another round) we were able to prevent major bloodshed and get the discussion back onto safer topics and engage in the primary purpose of St. Patrick’s day celebrations which seemed to be getting as drunk as possible.

“Three years of measures — including the setup of two rescue funds, the passage of eight economic-governance laws, the enactment of a deficit-limitation treaty, the institutionalization of “euro summits,” and at least one “roadmap” and “blueprint” for a better-run monetary union — couldn’t prevent the smashup over a country that makes up less than 0.2 percent of the 17-nation euro zone’s 8.6 trillion-euro ($11 trillion) economy.”
