Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark…
Whatever happened to that good,old-fashioned virtue,”integrity”?
I guess it died about the same time as veracity.
This is nothing compared to -every- story they do on guns.

Dan Rather.
With those credentials, she is now probably working for the New York Times. Or the Globe & Mail, or the Red Star or………
C’mon guys.
The editor and publisher did the right thing.
Nor exactly nipped in the bud, but nipped.
Karen Jeffrey is probably a lovely woman, who just wanted to make her stories more interesting: the last person you’d suspect of deliberate deception.
It’s not as if she’s been reporting on events at the Pentagon.
Making up the truth is much easier than searching for it.
Seems like a classy way to admit an obvious truth: they were duped by a scallywag.
Ain’t institutionalized gender equality great!
Proving yet again that women are just as puerile, devious, and ethically compromised as men. Not to mention that stupidity isn’t gender specific – except that men’s jobs kill during stupid moments. Stupid women just get fired.
Hasn’t the feminist narrative always been that women are somehow morally superior and if we got them into the workplace everything would be so much better?
Take that, feminist utopia!

That’s the problem. Do you think that makes it better?
I was sent on many such assignments during my reporter days a few decades back, usually on a weekend and frequently with a hangover. I can’t begin to count the number of times I thought about doing that. What hell, I’d think, I know what they’re going to say…
But I didn’t, because it’s lazy and it’s lying. If you have to do that, then quit. I did.
You may want to research where the media vended sandy hook players vanished as well – of course you will be facing slanderous defaming attacks from CNN and Anderson Cooper and any status-quo media if you even dare question the official media story.
It’s time to openly admit that many media outlets are directly involved in the political/partisan process and their job is not new but to shape public opinion in a direction which suits the political agendas of their masters.
Ever wonder about stories — particularly political ones — that cite unnamed critics? I have long suspected that is a device to insert the writer’s own opinion, while pretending to remain objective.
The worst sin of the media, though, is not reporting what is contrary to the ideology of the media outlet. We see this all the time in stories about climate change. How many media outlets that champion the cause of global warming reported the recent admission by the UK Met office that global temperatures have flat-lined since 1998? Until now, the Met has been a leading source of climate alarmism and its every utterance was headlined by the warmist media. But they have been strangely silent about this report.
Nicholas Farrel’s latest Takimag piece should ring true for you. And women are almost impossible to fire.
I know I have a well-earned reputation as a horse’s ass and a troll, but I would like to thank the Cape Cod Times for admitting this, for fisking the REST of her work, and taking appropriate actions should additional stories be unverifiable. I would hope they would also act similarly for the REST of their staff, since she apparently was able to get away with this for an extended time. Again, I am not excessively upset that the Media tries to sell their viewpoint. This very blog, as an example, is Media. Kate invests a significant amount of time and money to run it. I would be VERY surprised if she would continue to do so if she felt that time and money was not well spent advancing her views.
The funny part is how they expect us to believe that all their other correspondents were pure as the driven snow, when everyone knows that the only thing in an average North American newspaper that isn’t a pack of lies and distortions is last night’s sports results.
The paper had recently come under new management and Jeffrey was clearly considered “old and in the way.” She was demoted to writing puff pieces on things like local marathons and parades they used to fill growing amounts of vacant advertising space, in an attempt to get her to quit voluntarily. When she could not and would not take the hint (one look at her will satisfy anybody why she’d stayed so long—marriage had clearly never been an option), the little hypocrites decided to go looking for dirt on her, and found more than enough to justify forcing her out.
Never mind that if they’d been consistent about it the entire staff would have been lining up at the welfare office in the morning. They managed to get rid of the old biddy once and for all, fiddle her out of her pension and look like heroes doing it. Even the New York Times was impressed.
Neat trick, lads. If you think stunts like this will save your skins, though, you’re dreaming.
Yeah, amazing, too, how much this blog mirrors official Rawlco dogma… and the rhetoric of a certain radio talk show host.
No media oulet wants to air their dirty laundry.
I’d bet that she made some enemies and they did her.
Just imagine the MSM fact checking their “Panic about the weather” stories in the same way, instead of unlocatable people, its irreproducible “facts”.
Well Mr. Moneybags, Rawlco has to get the right idea from somewhere.
You’ll let us know when they do… right?
Poor woman. With a past like that, the only employment option open to her will be Ontario’s SIU.
