Out of 760 dogs impounded, they killed 713, arranged for 19 to be adopted, and farmed out 36 to other shelters (not necessarily “no kill” ones). As for cats, they impounded 1,211, euthanized 1,198, transferred eight, and found homes for a grand total of five. PETA also took in 58 other companion animals — including rabbits. It killed 54 of them.

You will find that the core administrators at these “animal welfare” groups are dogmatic eugenicists – that is abortion/population control/euthnasia true belivers in the brave new world. They are living out their fantasy of being the regulatiors of human numbers on the animal kingdom – what a rush of empowerment this must give these creeps.

Occam is pretty much right. PETA types think it’s better to be dead than unwanted or, in some cases, adopted by humans…who PETA generally loathes.
My girlfriend’s co-worker tried to adopt a cat from a local shelter for her daughter (they already had 2 and are good people) just before Christmas. On the application form was the question “Do you plan to declaw the cat?”. The woman answered yes. Application denied because that would be “cruel and inhumane” (the unclaimed/unhoused cats were to be destroyed).
Girlfriend poses as another adoptive parent and gets the cat by answering the question correctly and gives it to the co-workers family. One less cat goes down and a little girl is thrilled and the cat ends up in a happy place.
Me? I got a nice new wok for Christmas. Thinking of adopting a few more and inviting Warren over for a snack…
