Jersey Shore

Not desperate enough:

Relief crews from Alabama who were specifically called to New Jersey found themselves diverted to Long Island, NY after they arrived because they use non-union labor.

And from the comments – “A neighboring team traveling with them from Trinity was not reassigned. They have turned around and are headed home. Unreal… Wasted resources and unnecessary suffering.”
Meanwhile…

  2. No… Christie has shown his true colors in this crisis. He is no different than any other politician.

  3. Hey, it wasn’t my fault! I gave the guy the internationally recognized signal for “Bribe me now!” and the Redneck didn’t cross my palm. I had to send him packing.

  4. We’ve had our 15 minutes of fame, here in this corner of the world, with the prolonged power outage/damage caused by the ice storm in January 1998. It took the better part of 6 weeks to get everyone powered up and to fix the down towers, poles and lines with line crews and equipment coming from all over Canada and the U.S.
My only advice to those that have family or loved ones in Sandy’s destruction is go and get them out of there (somehow?) because this isn’t going to be over anytime soon regardless of what BFF Barry coes into the TV cameras.
From what I am reading the sub-stations and electrical wires flooded with salty sea water will have to be somehow cleaned or replaced…that takes time…alot of it.
Alot of people are going to learn a very hard lesson from this storm. That when push comes to shove the only person responsible for your safety/well being is yourself.
    Take care.

  5. In defense of Christie, you don’t need to think that Obama is bad at everything in order to think he did a bad job as president.

  6. Meanwhile in NYC the marathon is scheduled to go ahead on Saturday. That crazy Glenn Beck guy had a nice rant on this today. What a nutjob that dummy head is.

  7. So they had how many days warning of the hurricane? And did no one think they might need some gas in storage? they deserve what they got and what they are suffering. And if the rumours of turning away non-union workers is true, go sleep in the dark!

  8. Awe, so many aour grapes here after the guy acted in a non partisan manner toward Obama. I know that doesn’t compute with the black and white world that you all live in.

    Let me fix this.
“Ah Ah Ah We are ah not going ah ah to tolerate ah red tape, ummmmm ah we are not going er to tolerate ummm ah er bureaucracy.”

  10. Yeah well, don’t get knots in yer toga…
It ain’t real clever to incite relations with un ionized line crews in the aftermath of a storm. When they got ya by the shorthairs your mind had better follow.
Tain’t right, tain’t wrong, just is.

  11. Ah, but EVERYONE in the GOP “Leadership” wants Christie to run for President…

Well he’s leaving it awfully late, then, isn’t he?

    It’s an option, though, right?

  12. Being from the deep south just hours away from New Orleans, the Gulf and witnessing first hand the destruction of Hurricanes, I firmly believe after reading all the Sandy news since she hit that these people had no clue what was coming. We could see it from down heya, a Cat1, possibly Cat2 fixin to hit your shoreline and headed smack dab headon for a confrontation with a coldfront out of Canada ? Good Lord, I would have run like hell is fixin to freeze over to get out of the path of that monster. The worst part about all this is they have 300,000 – 400,000 people in a area I wouldn’t put that many cows in.

  13. NYC marathon off…as for Chris Christie he is up for re-election next year and needed the photo op. Consider his key note RNC speech. IMO it was more about Chris than Mitt. I still think he is a straight shooter and I like his brass tacs approach even though I think it is more lean GOP than the real deal hence I do not think he stands a chance of going nationaly.

  14. This will be a good lesson for those who think government can help. Christie, Obama, Bloomberg…. They will get it done. Ya right.
It’s every man for himself out there. You want to be prepared? Get yourself a Smith& Wesson or better still an 870 Brushmaster and learn how to use it.

  15. when Christie did so impressively well with the teachers union, I thought we had a contender.
    Now, meh, notsomuch.

  16. And now Dear Leader’s Maxi-Me is threatening the IBEW. Oh, yeah, that’ll scare ’em — “Onnnnnne…twoooooooooooo….now I really mean it, you kids…onnnnnnnnnnnnnn…twooooooo..don’t make me go to three…onnnnnnnnnnnnne…”
