Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Al in Ottawa, the problem with your assertion of a ‘god’ that made life, is of course, that you then have to prove the existence of god AND analyze the connection between His Will and the formation of life.
I don’t agree with the Platonism (pre-existence of Forms) of such as Anselm (similar pre-existence of God as Pure Form)because these claims rely purely and only on a conceptual axiom of, again, a claim of the existence of a Pure Form. So, I can’t accept the reality of a metaphysical Pure Form (god).
The second question, if you DO believe in Platonism, that pre-existence of an aspatial, atemporal Pure Form (god) is how this pure form, external to spatiotemporal matter, ‘made’ a bunch of molecules transform into a spatiotemporal biological organism. To say Just Because He Did..is not an answer.
Now, with regard to the emergence of life, ie, the biological or organic mode of existence, from the non-organic physico-chemical realm ..called abiogenesis or biopoiesis, there is a LOT of research in this area of biochemistry and bioengineering.
Analysis is that amino acids, which are molecules of a mixture of basic chemicals began millions of years ago; the catalyst has often been suggested as heat.
There’s a lot of work on hydrothermal vents in the ocean floors as causal of the catalystic reorganizing of the chemicals into a metabolic organism. There’s the work of Stu Kauffman on autocatalytics, there’s other work on energy changes and volcanic heat..there’s a great deal of work in this area.
Once these material cellular organisms developed, and I do not believe in their singular emergence, but in their multiple emergence, then, they would rapidly become more complex and networked with other cellular forms of matter. That’s life.
My ancestors on one side were serfs (quasi-slaves) until the 1840s. So I can really realate to Count Michael Ignatieff’s great-great-great-grandfather.
Cry racist when all else fails, right LAS?
Obama received almost 100% of the black vote in the last election, surely you don’t honestly believe that was based strictly on his policies?
Your comment is ignorant, reflexive and narrow-minded, you’re making yourself sound like a liberal, you should be embarrassed
EBD, I think the similarities lie in the ease in which we accept arguments that are outside of the range of proof.
Romney’s background is not only outside of the range of proof but also irrelevant to his ability to function as a President of the USA. After all, if we accept the ‘six degrees of separation’ theory, which seems very valid, and points out that most of us are six links from most everyone else, then, we’ve all got connections to the good and evil ancestors.
But while we’re at it, why not point out that Obama is one-half of a degree separated from his half brother in Kenya, who lives an impoverished life, unable to medically look after his son, while Obama, the Bringer of Health Care to The Impoverished, utterly ignores this half-brother. Doesn’t help him at all.
Romney gives 10% of his income to charity, Obama less than 1% – and again, ignores his illegal immigrant aunt in the US, and his impoverished half brother in Kenya. Hmmm.

“So I can really relate to Count Michael Ignatieff’s great-great-great-grandfather.”
You too were a member of rich Russian royalty making little igglets in the woodpile with toothless African bush people?
We never knew.
NME666: Steven Burton made a positive assertion and I asked for proof. I didn’t ask him to prove the beginning of the universe or the origin of life I asked him to prove that life spontaneously springs from non living material. Simple assertion simple request for proof. I know it bugs the adherents of your religion to be challenged but in all honesty I don’t care about your sensibilities as I am much more interested in the truth.
I hope you replied to her, that Americans already have health care.
Many do not.

Wrong. Many do not have health INSURANCE but they all have health care in the US, including known illegals.
Dirtman, exactly right. The hospitals in the US are required by law to treat anyone who comes in, whether insured or not, in their emergency and also basic care sections.
Most hispanics don’t know that Obamacare will CUT the federal funds to hospitals and their care centres and thus, reduce the amount of money these hospitals can spend on the illegals who are treated in these rooms, for even non-emergency problems.
It’s the same with K-12 education in the US; the schools are required by federal law to provide this education to any and all, regardless of immigration or tax status.
So, you can live in the US, pay no taxes, and receive education, health care – and welfare, food stamps, and Medicaid.

Just like a fake refugee claimant in Canada.
They are planted by our Refugee Industrial Complex’s unholy cabal of lawyers, bureaucrats, NGO’s and immigration consultants.
Guess which end of the political spectrum the lawyers tend to belong to?
And for bonus points, which fundamentalist club’s members do they like to import on your dime?
Here’s a hint, they usually go Kaboom sooner or later.
“”welfare bum government worker. ”
It’s not welfare if you have to work for your money, Harkov.
But you’d know that if you ever had a job.”
So show me ONE government worker that WORKS for thier money. ALL government workers are lazy, underworked, overpaid “GOERNMENT WELFARE BUMS”
“Personally I think social media is the very best place to find people too stupid to vote” Occam.
You missed the most obvious…..phil’s house!!
There WAS a time in North America when folks were considered “too stupid to vote”… The founding fathers had it right… If you didn’t have skin in the game, you weren’t allowed to dictate to those that did… The 50+1% have learned that they can vote themselves entitlements at the expense of the other 49% and now we’re screwed…
“No one is too stupid to vote” is the main problem with democracy.
let me try to explain it in my own “limited” English,
If you had a rare disease that will kill you unless something is done about it.
and if all the experts in the field were telling you they hesitate between two procedures that could save your life because each one has its own serious risks
would you rather have a group of the best in the field decide what to do (which does not mean there would be a 100% chance you would live)
or would you rather ask the hospital’s janitor, his jobless drunk brother, a whore in the emergency room and a couple of drug addicts in the street alley to vote on what intervention might save your life?
hey! the second choice may not save your life but it might give you a good conscience as it was Democratic
and who cares about your life as long as democracy is well and alive right?
I hope you replied to her, that Americans already have health care.
Many do not.

That’s because they choose X-Box, I-Phones, Nikes and Range Rovers over HealthCare Insurance.
It’s not welfare if you have to work for your money, Harkov. But you’d know that if you ever had a job\
All government workers’ wages are subsidized by taxpayers; the same doesn’t necessarily follow that ALL farmers are subsidized. In addion, it is easy (other than for retards like you, of course) to see which of the two actually produces something. But you’d know that if you ever paid a tax.
Here endeth the lesson. Back to sleep with you now, Philtard. 😀
“Steven Burton made a positive assertion and I asked for proof. I didn’t ask him to prove the beginning of the universe or the origin of life I asked him to prove that life spontaneously springs from non living material. Simple assertion simple request for proof… ”
Yes you are asking me to prove the likely origin of life. And what religion are you talking about exactly, I would definitely say “I know it bugs the adherents of your religion to be challenged” refers to your side in this, not our. Don’t presume do guess MY faith because I manage to reconcile my faith with science. Excuse you.
I can only say I’ve done enough chemistry, physics, and geology to know it’s possible. ET has been trying to prove to you how it is possible, and she has told you where to go look up information yourself. I couldn’t begin to say it better than she does. None of us can prove that it definitely happened, we weren’t there taking pictures. Just that her stance based on empirical evidence and research shows it’s possible whereas you won’t even acknowledge it’s possible before taking your stance which is faith-based.
You have to go research it yourself because I’m sorry I don’t have the months/years required to teach you the concepts and walk you through the research that exists and argue with you every step of the day. That’s why she is pointing you elsewhere to do your own research.
I’m posting this here just for phil. It’s an Ann Coulter column from 2009.
Black Mamba
Ann Coulter uses facts and logic,
that is why I love her
that is why liberals hate her
