Funny. A couple of years ago I bought ten ounces of gold (wafers and maple leafs), for an average price of $875. On a whim, I also bought a 100 oz bar of silver (cool paper weight) for about $1700.
My reasoning (except for the paper weight), was that I wanted to have something tangible, given the inevitable downturns in the US economy that were anticipated, and, under the Obamessiah, are still predictable.
I watched the gold price rise last year to over $1900, and the silver bar I bought I could have sold for about $4300.
Some would say I may have missed the boat, but I didn’t buy them for investment…I bought them as a hedge. Similar to the fully-stocked earthquake kit I maintain in our home here in the Vancouver area.
Only time will tell who’s right…but I am betting on me.
Bruce get a gun too. When the big one happens these hippy pieces of garbage will try and take everything you’ve got. The troops with guns in the cities thing was all a liberal lie. We don’t have enough troops to deal with a disaster like that. It’ll be weeks before you see any help. I’m on Vancouver Island, they won’t even remember we exist until a few months later.
If memory serves, 2 or 3 years ago the left were busy trying to figure out how to get Beck charged
with fraud and self dealing because all marxists just knew his gold talk was cover for a huge scam
against Christians who were by definition, weak and gullible.
Over 46 million American’s on food stamps alone, the bulk of them nested in Liberal cities.
It doesn’t take a prophet to guess at what happens if anything interrupts the flow of food, drugs, and alcohol from source to mouth.
You only need to look at what a minor Trayvon/ Rodney King event can cause, to envision a national Katrina style event with very little push. Add a race baiting president who may have a vested interest in such an event, and things could turn ugly fast.
Pandemic, wheat blight, stock market crash, terrorist/ activist/ false flag attack, inflation, fuel shortages, whatever. When you have a divided country of +300 million mixed races, religions, cultures, ethnicities, political affiliations, economic & social classes, sexual orientations and so on, you have a funeral pyre waiting for a spark.

Actually it is simpler than that….Maobama et al have deliberately polarized the US but it is a rural/urban polarization….heavily urban “blue states” (demoncrats) vs “red states” (flyover country). Blue urban areas are already de facto under seige with their own citizens their biggest enemy.
Detroit is not about to get up one day and conquer Michigan…..

Exactly … the urban cesspools can be contained from without.
What happens inside city limits is another story.

Dude, “may” have? These media people don’t even draw breath without a fax from DemocRat HQ. General lawlessness is Barry’s single hope to retain the Presidency this year.
Barry wants single payer health care. He wants to make the rich pay. He wants to continue swanning about with the rich and famous, he wants to keep getting to eat dinner with powerful world leaders and have them ask him for favors.
He will cheerfully incite the mob to burn down Chicago, NYC, LA and every other major Lefty city in the USA to get what he wants.
Going to be the shortest, most half @ssed civil war in history. Two days after the trucks stop rolling in to down town the rioters will be begging for food.
Just a reminder: Beck bought gold at $400.
I’ve been listening to him on and off for years. Sometimes he’s been wacky — he had this theory going for months that terrorists were going to hijack schoolbuses a la Dirty Hair/Chowchilla.
But when he first started reporting that Mexicans were beheading each other and rolling the heads into bars etc, everyone rolled their eyes. Now Mexican beheading stories are mainstream.
I could go on but…
Is Glenn Beck the guy I would have hired from Central Casting for this “job”? Not in a million years. but you don’t always get to pick yer guy. Moses killed a guy, and had a stutter. Abe Lincoln was no oil painting. John the Baptist ate bugs. What can ya do?
Beck has good taste, the RCA ribbon mike from early Radio days, and the B&W TV Test Pattern in the background (without the Indian Head in the middle)
He is right about most things, it’s his “NO” solution process (soap opera like) that marginalizes him.

I agree wholeheartedly. What should be of concern, is how it’s handled by the Obambam administration, and the fallout/ restructuring thereafter.

“Detroit is not about to get up one day and conquer Michigan…..”
I agree but don’t see it as a issue of Detroit or Michigan. I see it as thousands, possibly millions of individuals and loose gangs spreading out in all directions to verify the latest rumour on better conditions for survival. As you stated earlier, you will have a funeral pyre waiting for a spark.

Absolutely, although as Phantom pointed out it should burn itself out over a fairly short period of time. Masses of rioters spreading out from cities would only make it so far into rural America. Rural America would also hold strong, making roving more organized looter gangs obsolete in short order.
What the US will be left with is big smoldering city centers, with millions of homeless and starving. Maybe that’s not such a bad thing, a self cleansing of sorts.
It’s what will happen afterwards that becomes an interesting question for me. How does the government and military respond? Are the remaining stable parts of the US responsible now, even forced to feed and restructure? Under what rule of law, would this occur?
I’m not afraid to say, even to some sophisticated acquaintances of mine: Beck is a prophet.
Full Stop.
… AND, he’s an autodidact like Kathy Shaidle, Mark Steyn and Kate. And my former business partner.
None of whom went to university to lose their common sense edge.
I’m extremely respectful toward autodidacts who often remain searchers for their whole lives.
Kathy Shaidle @9:44 – “Dirty Hair”? As in Clint Eastwood should take a shower? Autocorrect thingy malfunction?
I don’t think that Beck is crazy…and he was certainly right about gold.
But, I’m with Peter Schiff in that Beck’s agreeing to do endorsements for Goldline was unconscionable.
There is no way that Beck actually believes in or every bought from that company…because their mark-ups are so bad that anyone who did purchase from them as far back at 2008 (as Schiff has pointed out) would still be below break-even.
Beck’s credibility dropped a lot for me when he cut all ties with Schiff simply because Schiff had pointed out that Goldline was a scam.
So, Beck might be right about gold…but no one should take his advice on the source from which you should buy.
A little gold, a little silver, lots of cash ammo water and ketchup…..

Thanks Harry, forgot about the ketchup. The kids would have never forgiven me. Also some honey. Never goes bad and so many uses.
Hey, Kathy – I bought gold in 1999 at $250/oz.
Where’s my radio show?!
