  1. He doesn’t have a tractor wendy. He currently only rents the land he buys and sells.
Which probably had nothing to do with the land ownership laws preventing non-Saskatchewanian’s from owning much more than a few acres which Calvert changed shortly after Mr. Lingenfelter left the province.
His equipment was sold at auction I think it was 4 years ago when his brother in law decided the working conditions/pay was better in the oil patch.
But as much as I dislike the man. How does a gladhander politician/businessman get characterized as “just visiting” here when he goes to a banquet somewhere else??

  2. Is Dwain expecting Albertans wouldn’t recognize him? Half of Alberta are migrated Saskatchewanians and the rest are Newfies. Neither group are enamoured by socialists.

  3. “But as much as I dislike the man”
I share these sentiments. I also have no use for the man or his politics.
However, maybe we should go easy on him. After all, he just finished receiving an unprecedented political beatdown, including losing his own seat.

  4. Oh, Gawd, forgive me. How I hate to come to Down-the-Dwain’s defense, but merely attending a party in Calgary isn’t proof that he has moved back. Can anyone provide proof that he has relocated back to that evil province?

  5. Don’t complain at least he left Sask. and we don’t have to worry about him screwing up Sask. anymore.

  6. Rumors are he’s been hiding out in Columbia mostly since his defeat where his wife and family are from.
Barcs posting above is exactly correct. Additionally, he’s been especially busy buying up land right where the Keystone pipeline is rumoured to go through. Buy up the land cheap from farmers and then negotiate it at an even higher price back to the pipeline for the parcel of land they require.

  7. The last I heard his was seen going over the spillway at Alameda. Last report was his rubber boots were full at the time.

  8. Please quit sending your losers to us. Next thing you know he will be leader of the Alberta PC’s, his politics and Allison Redfords are about the same.

  9. Iwasneverhere, The pipeline doesn’t require “land”. They need surface access for the right of way. The landowner retains the use of the land except for the time when it is being built. or possible maintenance.
A half mile is somewhere around $30k for the rights depending on the land. That is about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the land around here. So he will take a hit short term if keystone isn’t built. But it not being built is not going to change the price of the land, nor is it going to affect the rent he gets from the investment.

  10. Dwain is more of a capitalist than Redford. Neither one is much of a conservative.
His buying land in wheat country shows he’s not too worried about the CWB losing its monopoly.

  11. A black tie event,..Why isn’t he in a working Man’s (NDP)Overalls.. His wife looks nice but all her taste is in her mouth

  12. No whining here. Just a few light-hearted jabs at the man who, if he had been successful in the last election, would have dragged Saskatchewan back into the socialist cesspool from whence it came.
Sure do miss those equalization payments though. Being a “have” province is sure a bitch.
