  1. When the L.A. rap gangstas start driving Chevy Volts and the Toyota Prius for their drive-by shootings, then and only then, will electric cars become truly popular in California.

  2. 2025? There won’t be a California in 2025. At least not a California with people who can buy cars. The whole state will be a lot like Detroit is now – and for the same reasons.

  3. Great. Vermont basically adopts California auto regulations as a matter of course. Not sure how they propose to enforce this one though.

  4. Hilarious. Mexicans don’t care a whit now about the American regulatory regime in California, to think that they’ll suddenly start caring in 2025 after all these old liberal fascists die off is a joke.

  5. Why are the Greenies so committed to coal fired vehicles? Do they actually think electricity is less polluting than gasoline? Idiots.
California dealers are going to have to charge 1/7th more to fund the give away electrics. These had better be $12,000 vehicles that cost $30,000 to make instead of $40,000 Volts that costs $150,000 to make.

  6. Maybe the Yanks should offer California to the Chinese as part of their debt settlement. I mean, extol the virtues of year round golf and they might go for it.

  7. The Mexican Cartels will be running much of Southern California by 2025. The few surviving and wealthy liberals that remain will be cowering in gated communities with costly Gang-provided private security. Rural California will resemble Mad Max with the favourite sport being killing off the aged. The state will have defaulted several times by then with most public employees out of work and all their retirees without pensions. Most will be living in abject poverty on meagre federal assistance with no Medicare nor social security (due to the US default of 2017 on the day after Obama’s left the White House). Rumours of soylent Green will abound. Many Californians will look to Detroit as a good place to relocate. Northern rural California will essentially break away and survive on logging and agriculture, defended from Sacramento and the cartels with militias similarly with the rest of the Northern two thirds of the country. North Korea will have assumed all authority over the San Francisco area due to the political twinning policies of the Bay area and Pyongyang. The area resembles a concentration camp due to the emaciated remaining population. The NKs (literally) killed off the Gay Pride parades after their first six months in power. Oh hell, there goes the alarm, time to wake up….

  8. All the California Air Resources Board have to do is wave their magic wands, and presto! non-polluting cars!
Or maybe it should be renamed the California Airhead Board.

  9. Of course your cooperative when the Gestapo comes to your door. Anything else is suicide.

  10. Surprise surprise I commented on the ctv story about the electric car, I stated that if you know how much pollution is created making those batteries you would never touch one, they seem to have either lost the comment or removed it due to it not being the politically correct statement?

  11. Ken, the California Air Resources Board isn’t elected, it’s appointed.
I love this quote from Chair Mary Nicholls to the effect that “direct incentives are in the works”.
How, hunnybunch? Your state is bankrupt. So please tell us all which social subsidy you plant to cut. Not you, naturally.
John Chittick, what you are talking about is California turning itself into Brazil of the 1960s. A huge mass of urban poor and a handful of wealthy entitled aristocrats. California is well down that road, given the high net emigration of the middle class out of the State over the past five years.

  12. By non-polluting vehicles, does that mean out the tail pipe or non-polluting whilst in the production stages in some other state or country?
    That is the real question!!!!
