  1. Fabulous and funny! Never met a journalist who couldn’t lie. I wonder how much that scribbler got paid for this scam?

  2. Hey Kate,
Check out the response to your post at the Globe.
See how the brainiac spells manner.
That’s priceless. Ask him if he is a member of the teabag movement.

  3. There is something desperately wrong with the Globe’s site. It is almost impossible to get to the comments section on anything.
It is almost impossible to post a comment.
Is that just me, or are you having the same problem.
I have emailed them twice on this and nothing.

  4. Comments seem to be open. Have at it!
Keep an eye on that story, Kate, I have a suspicion that it may ‘disappear’ like a dissident in Communist Russia.

  5. There is something desperately wrong with the Globe’s site.
Really, you needn’t have continued after that sentence.  😉

  6. On a lighter note, NFL Films outed themselves for similar behavior. They often splice the same crowd reactions for different highlights. It was quite funny when they showed the same lady doing and wearing the same thing on different highlights at different games.

  7. I can’t find your post. I’ve clicked on newest to oldest, refreshed the screen and then tried newest to oldest again. The newest post is ruthmatthews at 8:57am today.

  9. I wonder if Warren Clements believes in the “Bush plastic turkey” meme too?
And the Glib and Pale‘s comment section won’t open for me either. Maybe it’s a Katealanche?

  10. “Check out the response to your post at the Globe.
See how the brainiac spells manner.”

I shouldn’t throw stones being I’m such a pathetic speller, but couldn’t resist opening my mouth… it’s been deleted and my friendly advice was voted down simultaneously.

  11. G&M’s comment section really is a mess, I am getting this where Kate’s post at 11:15 used to be:
    Name withheld
    11:15 AM on December 17, 2010
This comment has violated our Terms and Conditions, and has been removed.
Have they enabled a peekaboo capability on their comment section?

  12. The globe repositions/edits/adds/deletes the comment section big time!
It did not take my score Kate up.
Kate advanced to 5 and then, magically, a lot of others are at 5 also.

  13. Kate…your 11:15 comment has been removed because you …ahem…” violated their terms and conditions”. I did see it earlier.
Let’s see: it was truthful, pointed out lazy journalism, and made a mockery of libs. Yep…I can see where that would violate the G&M standards.
G&M just ask for trouble, don’t they?

  14. Kate nuked the Globe comment section Big TIME. The department is a smoldering mess with pro-Kate takes piling up in the in-box. Perhaps Jeffy will save their day, look down his nose and write us an enlightened column.
And way to go Stan !!

  15. Through the years, I have realized that most media operate as Con-Artists do. Gain your confidence by appearing all-knowing and smooth and using (usually) proper grammar. Once they gain your confidence they then twist the story, leave out crucial facts or simply lie.
Con Artist: a person who uses a fraud method known as a confidence trick .

  16. Couldn’t find Kate’s comment.
    I have a strange request.
Kate, why don’t you post your comment here.
    Don’t be shy!

  17. “If you see a typo or error on our site, report it to us. Please include a link to the story where you spotted the error.”
That’s the last line of the Editor’s Note in the Comments section. Methinks they are not sincere.

  18. Oh man, those comments over at the G&M story are cutting and scathing. Loving it!

  19. I checked out Mr. Clements little bio. I am certain that he has never had sex where he wasn’t the only person in the room.
But that’s just from a glance at his picture.

  20. I wonder if there’s some sort of blocking going on by the Glib. The comments won’t open when I click through to them using Kate’s link to the main story but when I cut ‘n pasted the story URL into a fresh tab and clicked through to the comments, they popped up almost immediately.

  21. The morans at Blob & Snail have indeed removed Kate’s comment at 11:15AM.
Luckily half the comments section after 11:15 is people high-fiving Kate.
    Busted, squared.

  22. ‘warren’ clements……warren warren warren .it’s an unlucky name isn’t it ?
and the poor fellow was on the editorial board was he?
    i’m speechless kinda…THIS dipstick was a gatekeeper?
oh dear me…shirley he’ll make a lame apology in that newspaper for exhibiting his ignorance of what’s REALLY going down out here in the real whirld…?
    whaddaya reckon ?
    i say it’s 6 to 5 against…

  23. I for one vow never to name a child of mine “Warren”… unless the father’s last name is Pease. Then I won’t be able to resist.
It’s okay, the kid’ll thank me in the end. Just ask Johnny Cash.

  24. A superb comment on the Globe site:
“If we are to judge the whole tea party by a few alleged spelling and grammatical errors, then the Globe and Mail can be judged by Warren’s piece.”
    Love it!

  25. I just read the article a few minutes ago, clicked on the comments and read all 102 of them.

  26. ‘this be the verse'(pace that friend of Amis)
the thing is that when push comes to shove we need have no fear of the ‘enemy’
they will fold like wet cardboard when push comes to shove.
and when we push and shove we’ll do it as culturally anglo-saxon enlightened caretakers of the best the whirld has seen..
    cry havoc…THEY have…

  27. I don’t usually make fun of peoples looks when I disagree with them but I’ll make an exception for myself in this case.
Look at Warren’s picture at the link.
You just know this guy got repeatedly pushed into lockers by girls when he was in high school.
So I looked the word ‘dweeb’ up in the dictionary…I knew he looked familiar!

  28. “You just know this guy got repeatedly pushed into lockers by girls when he was in high school.”
It made me the man I am today.
