  1. PMSH has done nothing for gun rights except for stimulating people to register more of them with his ‘amnesty’.
His amnesty is insulting to many gun owners who don’t consider themselves criminals. Amnesties apply to the convicted criminals and wanted fugitives.
This was Bruce Montague’s point all along – the government is making all Canadians criminals to control them. Clearly some bury their heads in the sand.
At the same time he is helping himself to our money whenever he has to write a cheque.

  2. Do you own a gun Joe?
Do you have a clue as to the amount of crap we’ve had to put up with the last 20-25 years,vis-a vis gun ownership in this upside down country?

  3. Aaron: there is much more to your antipathy towards PM Harper (may I say ‘hatred’) than his policies. It sounds very personal, and I can only guess at the real reason.
Instead of being taken seriously, which you deserve, you could become a bore. I find myself yawning when I should be paying attention.

  4. I’m an anarchist and I’m okay,
    I loot all night and I sleep all day;
I torch cop cars, I break some glass,
I go to the holding tank,
    My gender is my business,
Bob Rae I’d like to thank.
    **
I save the earth, I march for peace,
I light up my big bong,
    and when I’m done protesting,
    I play some mean ping-pong.
(and I thought you were so rugged)

  5. I’m afraid I don’t see the irony. Of course we’ll want to give the evil dictator all of our guns. Dictators function better when there is no opposition, armed or otherwise. A better functioning dictator is better than a poor functioning dictator.

  6. Caught part of a Harper speech yesterday. He looks and sounds good which isn’t enough but is a basic expectation for any politician one supports.

  7. Aaron: Can you make that propeller on your beanie spin a little faster? THIS IS NOT A GUN CONTROL THREAD!

  8. Actually Kate, I like the anarchist masthead quote better.
A mixed bravo to Peter and his “Lumberjack” style ditty. Now I have the tune playing over in my head.

  9. Trudeau never told us how far we’d got toward communist dictatorship. Pretty far along I’d guess. Popular democracy, people’s republic, autonomous soviet socialist republic? Perhaps they turned down his application for membership?

  10. There are claims that this was the first time that tear gas has ever been used in toronto.
Of course that’s true – tear gas wasn’t invented the last time the leafs won the cup.

  11. Warren Kinsella has been completely over the top on the G20 protests. Saying that PMSH hates Toronto is inexcusable and he should apologize.

  12. Kinsella and Miller will be only too happy to blame the problems on PM Harper.
In case you missed it this is from a column by Joe Warmington in the TO Sun:
“We were all embarrassed beyond belief on Saturday,” an officer named John, who I got in touch with, said in an email to AM 640’s John Oakley. “Our guys wanted to wade in but our senior officers and our socialist mayor would not permit it.”
Most of us sensed it was the backroom boys barking orders.
There’s a bit of info on Don Cherry’s take on the events.

  13. The reason the Left wants gun control for legitimate gun users, is because it won’t affect Left radicals in the least should they decide to use guns instead of billiard balls and firebombs in a future violent uprising. Left radicals can get easy access to illicit firearms, for example from the smuggling rings run out of those Native reserves which are under the control of radicals and organized criminal gangs. Recent arrests in Toronto and Ottawa turned up guns and ammo from the homes of “peace-loving” Left activists. One of the guys is a University prof using high-tech equipment to intercept police and security communications for the G8/G20 summit. If that isn’t espionage, with possible foreign enemy guidance, I don’t know what is…

  14. Harper is an evil genius who wants to turn Canada into a dictatorship, let’s give him all our guns
actually some of those words are true.
Harper is a genius who wants to turn Canada, let’s give him our all.

  15. Anarchy in Canada would be 34 million wanna be tyrants trying to impose their will on 34 million wanna be tyrants.

  16. It occurs to me that the anarchists are simply sad, young boys with penis envy and a bad attitude. The majority of ‘non-violent’ protesters are people, many young but a lot of older ones also, who have not yet reached a point in their lives where the taxation on their earnings becomes offensive or are the recipients of socialist benefits or are simply men/women who have been looked after by a spouse’s income or a parent’s generosity or legacy through inheritance. I think those of us with jobs who have no other option but to pay very high taxes to support a lot of these people are the ones who have the real issue here.

  17. Brian M.
In my youth … those sad young boys got regular beatings …. it either cured them of the stupid syndrome or sent them away from the community to learn the harsher lessons of life.
Sometimes it crushed them …. but that is how we weed out the unfit. Or used to.

  18. Basically, all it proves is that there are about two thousand hard core commies out there who are willing to travel from anywhere in Canada (or the northeast U.S.) to have their annual carnival of hatred for capitalism.
Perhaps we should build a capitalist theme park and lock them in there, so they could spend the rest of their sorry lives slowly destroying it. Or we could let them go to a larger scale and run the whole country.

  19. Peter, leave a little room in the theme park for the university profs who are filling them with this garbage.
Atlantic Jim had it right @ 12:28. Only they would call it a Socialist Democratic Republic.

  20. We don’t have enough freedom in this country. Let’s hire more cops!
Sorry, had to do it. ~:)
