  1. His comment on “1939 again” strikes a chord and has me personally very concerned. Economic collapse first in Greece and then with the rest of us, like dominoes, is (again) enough reason to bring about a global war.

  2. War is coming anyway. Islam is feeling its oats.
Having Obama at your back helps.

  3. VDH is on a tear, with all those exploding monuments to hubris. Read that yesterday with some quiet satisfaction.
Bring on the Emperor with no clothes!!!
Best part was the last sentence:
“They all can be traced to a global Western elite that in its intellectual arrogance confused late-20th-century technological progress with a supposed evolution in human nature itself. Heaven on earth was to be ushered in by those who deemed themselves so wise and so moral that they could remake civilization in their own image — even if that sometimes meant the end of disinterested research, basic arithmetic, and simple common sense.”

  4. Hey, Hans-Christian Georg Rupprecht! You beat me to it by about 20 minutes! ‘Was just about to post the last paragraph of this great article when, lo and behold, you’d already done it.
‘Very astute conclusion: When you equate technological wizardry with human “evolution” — as far as I’m concerned, you can’t improve on G*d’s creation but we need to be continually working on being loving, forgiving, and generous — the world gets into big trouble.
‘Nothing new under the sun. All dysfunction begins in the human heart of fallen human nature.

  5. @ batb:
Agree with your thoughts and thanks for the kudos, but today’s Psalm beat me to it as well…by several millenia!
    Psalm 144:
3 …what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him?
4 Man is like a breath, his days are like a passing shadow.

  6. Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew,
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four —
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

  7. All of the above.
Reaping what they sowed. Serves them right, but the little people will be the ones to suffer.

  8. I think the attitudes of some liberal elite that Europe was the source of all manner of sophistication was prevalent BEFORE Obama. It’s just now we’re seeing how wrong that perception is.
    Just my thoughts.

  9. Commander in Chief Rupprecht, thanks for sharing from Psalm 144.
I love the psalms and the prophets, who plumb the depths of the human condition and sing the praises of the only One able to heal us.
