The Telegraph-Journal sincerely apologizes to the Prime Minister…
The story stated that a senior Roman Catholic priest in New Brunswick had demanded that the Prime Minister’s Office explain what happened to the communion wafer which was handed to Prime Minister Harper during the celebration of communion at the funeral mass. The story also said that during the communion celebration, the Prime Minister “slipped the thin wafer that Catholics call ‘the host’ into his jacket pocket”.
There was no credible support for these statements of fact at the time this article was published, nor is the Telegraph-Journal aware of any credible support for these statements now. Our reporters Rob Linke and Adam Huras, who wrote the story reporting on the funeral, did not include these statements in the version of the story that they wrote. In the editing process, these statements were added without the knowledge of the reporters and without any credible support for them.

Update 2: This is finally trickling into the mainstream this morning. The Calgary Herald notes “Both the names of the newspaper’s editor, Shawna Richer, and the publisher, Jamie Irving, do not appear on the masthead of Tuesday’s edition.”

I heard on the radio the reporters were going to sue the paper. I think that is why it came out and the reporters were singled out for an apology. While that is hearsay I like to think there are still a few reporters left that give a crap about their reputation and their work.
“CBC News has confirmed that editor Shawna Richer has been fired and that Jamie Irving is no longer the publisher of the paper”. In the last century the Irving Empire has never “fired” one of their kids (or grand kids in this case). Well Fife said on his report last night that the Liberals mentioned the story to Jaie Irving, Irving told the editor, “it wasn’t checked”, and the editor changed the story….
But Bob leaves it hanging with a chuckle saying Jamie has been suspende for 30 days (chuckle chuckle oh that Jamie) but doesnt go to the real story…..the Liberals planted the phreaking story, actually made it up.
Once again I applaud mr Kinsella, he earned his pay, sort of….you arent supposed to get caught dragging your own church into this and diminishing the solmn ceremony that went on in honour of a former GG…it was a state funeral for crying out loud.

Isn`t this a case of fraudÉ And who ever contrived said plan from the Liberal Party should be charged with fraud and that includes those at the paper who were aware this was a concocted story. Iggy either hands over the guilty party or the court of public opinion will investigate and try said person or persons without mercy.
When this story first came out my first thought was- You’ve got to be kidding. Who cares and what sort of moron could try to make this a story,even if it were true.
The only thing accomplished by those responsible was to make themselfs look really stupid.

Forget about trying to find the Liberal who planted the story. Some backroom Liberal guerrilla operative took a gamble by feeding a lie to the MSM and they actually ran with it. Big deal!
The real scandal in this is that CBC and CTV continued with this “story” for days after it broke. After one day, the investigative journalists must have known the story was bogus, yet they reported only those details that would give the story “legs”. They need to answer for and apologize to PMSH, and the Canadian People.
We the court of public opinion have the power to file complaints against MSM journalists who reported the story without doing any investigation atall don’t we? And Rick we will find out how orchastrated this fabrication, it’s only a matter of time. Go the the big three papers and watch posts get deleted when they ask the questions the journalist refused to ask before publishing the story. I suspect there are some seriously scared people trying to cover the tracks.
Who told Irving/Richer “He’s in the bag, run with it, video’s on its way!” or something similar? Who would be high enough up the Lieberal food chain to be trusted that far? No doubt the combined investigation now underway by Canada’s finest journalists and Iggy’s personal internal affairs unit will soon lay the true facts before us.
