I’ve been noticing this a lot – increasing mentions in news reports of head-choppers as “conservative” or “socially conservative” by the same m-word avoiding reporters who are banned from using the word “terrorist” because it isn’t neutral enough….

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) – Opponents of Iran’s hard-line president have accused him of trying to buy votes before the June presidential election by handing out checks and free vegetables to the poor.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government has defended the payments, saying the checks for 500,000 and 1 million rials—about $50 and $100—have nothing to do with the election.
Ahmadinejad advisers also handed out $50 checks to female students when the president visited their dormitory in March. The government characterized the payments as a gift from the president for Nowruz, the Persian new year.
In recent weeks, the government has also distributed free potatoes in small towns.
Students at a campaign event for Mousavi in the central town of Yazd on Monday chanted, “We don’t want a potato government” and “Death to potatoes,” a play on the “Death to America” slogan common at rallies by hard-liners.
I wonder if “Death to Potatoes!” comes in the form of “Freedom Fries”? It’s no wonder that the “Obama-Nation”(tm) went and ordered from Ray’s Hell Burger with Biden recently. But hey, when you hail from the “Great Satan” maybe this isn’t too surprising.
I thought it was Obama who was buying votes in the last election, and now it is Ahmadinejad.
But what has this really got to do with the price of tomatoes or potatoes? Both go equally well with your “Hell Burger”. And if you ‘nuke em’ in the microwave they usually taste pretty good as well, depending on your favorite recipe.
