Naturally, many CEOs are genuinely concerned about global warming. But many of the most vocal stand to profit from carbon regulations. The term used by economists for their behavior is “rent-seeking.”

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”
-Al Gore
Need a catchy moniker for this subject:
“___scam”
It is hard to believe that fifty per cent of the population, in theory and statistically, is above average intellectually.
Can anyone tell me the difference between Al Gore, David Suzuki and the con artist tel-evangelists who preach doom and gloom unless you send money?
“Rent seeking”, a very good argument, something to remember.
ESSO seems to be using the process.
Sorry, not ESSO, rather EXXON
I have a question:
If the climate monsters are able to take over our economy and have us all pay through the nose for the privilege exhaling of our own lung producing carbon dioxide, there will need to be some resistance … no?
How would the ‘man-made’ global warming loons and their political and industrial thieving friends like to deal with never-ending ‘man-made’ forest fires all over north America?
I have heard this plan discussed.
The upside is that this plan may go along way to offset some of the cooling trend and financial theft we are currently experiencing.
Just asking …
Aanyone?
“Follow the money trail” is my best line when I discuss this sham with sheeple.
That line applies to the new grocery bag money grab.
Also, consider Ontario’s McGuilty’s tax grab disguised as green initiative. I swear most people are so dumb:
McGuinty put a 10 cent return policy on all wine and hard liquor glass bottles. These bottles to be returned to any Beer Store for refund.
Before this “initiative” most Ontario city and region had a recycle box program and still do. Most people were just putting those bottles in the blue bin. A truck goes around neighborhoods to collect.
Now, people have to individualy drive to beer stores. That’s problem #1. More Co2 created for transport.
Scam: Many people don’t bother (I’m one) and just put the bottles in the blue box. Ontario Gov now gets a tax revenue.
Cherry on the sundae: The Beer Stores then get these bottles from the same neighborhood recycle Co. to either take to remelting plants or simply (Like most) ends up crushed and buried in land fills! MOST PEOPLE THOUGHT THESE BOTTLES WERE TO BE REFILLED LIKE BEER. NOT! THE DIVERSITY OF SIZES, SHAPES AND COLOUR MAKES IT ECONOMICALLY UNVIABLE TO DO SO.
Note: Glass is made of vulcanized (Melted) sand. It can be returned to the ground with no ill effect to the environment and even the water table underground.
Create a need, false or otherwise, and that need will be filled. I really have to hand it to Gore and Suzuki, they are con artists extraordinaire.
The biggest scam of the 21st century continues, shut up and pay up.
Before the Internet and Blogs, this scam would have undoubtedly succeeded – at least for awhile. (A compliant media)
In today’s world, there is hope – in spite of the media.
Are there not laws against the willful promotion of a scam ? Same as false advertising.
You have a problem, whether you know it or not.
Only I can solve it.
Send money.
It is the way of the world.
no more Big Oil, just Big Wind.
You ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Wait until electric cars start coming out!! Brace yourself.
A; For a car that goes about 400 ks on a recharge, you’ll be looking at $80,000 plus.
B: Electric cars need recharging. Recharging requires extra electricity. Extra electricity means more power lines and power plants! Guess what will happen to the five cent kilowatt! Try about 15 cents by 2015!
Reasoning: The electrical power corporations will want the same amount of money per BTU of energy as the petrochemical industry. After all, they will be moving the same vehicle the same amount of distance as the fuel powered units! And remember, you can’t can’t park your refrigirator or your electric range!
There already is no “Big Oil” – unless you think 10% is big.
Worlds reserves of oil and refinery control; (approx)
OPEC 60%
Communist/Socialist 20%
State owned 10%
“Big Oil” 10%
On the other hand,
“Renewable Energy” ( a misnomer)
Big Al & associates 100% !!
Those earnest, caring, environmentally-concerned corporations are peddling a large line of BS. Every overture made to the green-bots is done with profits in mind, whether or not its a reduction in energy usage (always done primarily to lower costs) or other green-“friendly” initiatives to woo boneheads to the product. Look at the push by GE for wind power (when they just happen to produce windmills, by coincidence), or by GE, Sylvania et al to promote cheap, chinese-made CFLs that are 10x more expensive than incandescents, and laden with mercury.
Hey, I don’t mind companies pushing for more profits, but I object to them having laws changed to rip me off. Otherwise, if people are dumb enough to buy into this corporate green “goodguy” image, then enjoy your naivete.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Al Gore, David Suzuki and the con artist tel-evangelists …
Yes. The tele-evangelists usually don’t try to get the government to force everyone to contribute to their cause.
Can anyone tell me the difference between Al Gore, David Suzuki and the con artist tel-evangelists?
Yes, the televangelists don’t have the ear of the worlds most powerful telepromptist.
sucking money from people and giving nothing in return. sounds alot like government.
“Hey, I don’t mind companies pushing for more profits, but I object to them having laws changed to rip me off.”
This pretty much echo’s my POV. This reminds me of the CTV adds running asking for support for local TV companies. What the adds don’t tell you is they are asking for more of your money, and the money of those who don’t want their product. Remember, I don’t get to decline CTV or others like it.
Rent seeking ?…….. I swear I’ve heard that term somewhere .
Indy:
How about … support your local TV station with the money we can save by declining French-language stations.
BTW, the short version of advertisments is ads, not adds.
Cheers
Now I finally get it. GE does not stand for General Electric But Get Enriched; those pricey wind mills always need constant expensive maintenance. What percentage are off line following one,two or three years of bird killing whacking.
oops.
I support what they are asking for so long as I have the choice not to subscribe to those channels(while subscibing to others), which I don’t.
The word beware should be attached to the real threat in the regulation of Co2 without a specified scientific justification, like AGW
They are trying to link Carbon to Climate without a challenge.
If they succeed they can switch theory if we go into a 200-year Ice age.
The US Supreme Court did not rule on the science, they only ruled that the EPA could regulate, but must prove it’s science in Court, if challenged.
The automaker’s shareholders should fill a law suit, in the worst case the under lining science will be on the record… by the time the case is heard we will be into a little (20 year) or big (200 year) Ice age
JMHO
Science is the long-term friend of the real truth-seekers.
I swear to God.
Pres.Eisenhaur also said”DO NOT LET GOVTS FUND UNIVERSITY RESEARCH” I can now see why.
What years did Pres. Eisenhaur serve?
Sound kinda like Pres. Eisenhower in the mid-50s.
Pres.Eisenhaur said two things, the first is widely quoted”beware the military industrial complex”,the second never is,”do not let govts fund university research!” He was also continualy urged to go into French Indo-China(Vietnam)to which he said “we cant win a war in that theatre.Kennedy followed him and Eisenhaur was reluctant to give up the presidency as he knew that Kennedy was influenced to go there.
