The Civil Service and the Financial Sector have been playing footsie again (as they always do), this time resulting in the allowing of gross over-credit margins in public utility institutions, in order to finance gross over-consumption, naturally resulting in the inevitable collapse of a bubble, per the normal Extraordinary Popular Delusions & the Madness of Crowds (1841). And as usual, the Prime Minister is getting blamed for it.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight we have a special off-schedule Budget ’09 show. And tonight’s 64 followed by some number of zeroes question is: where before have we seen the statists and the corporatists band together to deal from the bottom of the deck, effectively forcing the Prime Minister to play a bad hand in favour of the oligarchists? Well, obviously, and here for your delectation: in the A Conflict of Interest, II, III, IV episode of Yes Prime Minister (1987, 1/2 hour).

So happy Budget Day, everyone, and now I’m going to go into an acoustically isolated chamber, in order to prevent my hearing from being damaged by the screeching of most everyone’s fingernails on the blackboards (on all sides of the aisle) after this budget is pronounced. Because this pseudo-crisis too shall pass, and I’ll still need my hearing after that.

  4. Should be “leaks” as well as “bothers”.
    We’re either playing under new rules or we aren’t; the would-be usurping parties who took it off-road in the first place aren’t entitled to faux-outrage when the elected government follows suit and behaves in new ways that are appropriate/adaptive to the new situation.
    Canadians aren’t stupid, and no one can fool all of the people all of the time, as the pro-Harper comments indicate.

    While the Fascists both domestic & Islamic rejoice in the spinelessness of quaking western politicians. Bowing to their wishes without complaint. While enslaving the population who entrusted power to them. Probably hoping to survive while the beast feeds on others.

  21. Just reading some letters to the editor and a thought occured to me about ol Khadr.
    Since the crimes he is accused of were commited when he was 13 or 14 years old, IF he gets back into this country, will we even be allowed to mention his name wrt these crimes or mention his name at all?
    Young offender and all.
    Kinda sad that this great country has come to the point where that is the train of thought it generates.

  23. Here’s an excellent article by Victor Davis Hanson pointing out that Obama’s manipulative political campaign is one thing but the reality of his agenda, which is quite different from the rhetoric, is becomng clear and of great concern. He writes:

    Comments on the article strongly support Hanson: people are waking up from their zombie-stupor. They are pointing to the fact that ‘some’ knew what he was really like but the Obama campaign deflected attention, ie, the New Yorker story by Ryan Lizza, July 21, 2008, which detailed his history and warned people but the article was deflected by the Obama campaign complaining about the picture on the cover.

  25. I see that Taliban Jack’s incessant and insane ranting about not trusting PMSH has taken Mr Layton down 2 more points, to 14%, in the polls.
    It is becoming obvious that Jack is in a job away above his understanding/ability.
    5 million Cdn voters could care less about his personal hatred of PMSH.
    In fact, it is Layton’s duty to get along with the PM who has the most seats in the HoC than any other party there.
    Or Layton should quit as NDP leader and quit trying to piss on the pantlegs of 5 million Cdn voters.
    You specifically told Cdns that you were running for PMSH’s job before the last vote.
    You lost, now get over it.

    Politics is war by other means. Our duly elected Government is fighting a war against terror and tyranny, and their opponents are the million+ liberal bureaucrats in the civil Service plus the Cabal of Tyranny plus the bureaucrat approved propaganda arm, (this page is part of that).
    Think of leaks as a sniper for the government side, intellectual head shots as it were.

    Who are the people who sneer at such paintings? I can probably guess, but I’d appreciate your input here.

  47. Lookout, the sneering comes from many critics, art snobs who claim to enjoy “Voice of Fire,” starving artists whose works consist of dresses made of rotting flank steak, etc. — the people who always know more than the rest of us combined…

  49. ulianov – but it actually IS union leaders who are a major force in this current economic recession.
    Unions, which I maintain are parasites on workers, have driven up the cost of manufacturing goods beyond the capacity of the consumer to purchase these goods. This has driven manufacturing out of the country resulting in a net loss of jobs. And, resulting in a population dependent on a foreign population for both the manufacturing of their goods AND provision of services.
    That’s what unions have done – drastically reduced the number of jobs here.
    Unions in the public service have driven up the cost of providing services beyond the capacity of the taxpayer to support these services. In addition, unions in public service systems have resulted in a drastic reduction in the quality and quantity of services, as not only more and more money goes to these employees and less to services. But also, as these employees are ‘for life’ without any accountability for their poor services, the quality of service has been reduced below ‘acceptable’ to ‘very poor’.
    That’s what unions have done to our economy.

  50. ulianov – I stand by my arguments. Heck, how and why did those plants get set up in Mexico and other such countries? For the weather or because the wages in the unionized industries had moved outside of a realistic market capacity?
    As for $28 a day, what’s wrong with that – if you factor in the cost-of-living which is miles below what it is here…in our unionized world that has to support all those union workers and their wages – especially now in the public sector.
    What’s wrong with WalMart? Provides inexpensive goods? What’s wrong with that? Provides lots of entry level jobs for unskilled labour. What’s wrong with that?
    Did you know that the public sector wage increases, never mind benefits, are usually more than TWICE that of the private sector? Who pays for this? We do.
