We’ve already had our obama, the pr!ck was called trudeau.
Our media untouchable, utterly unqualified, empty suit?
That would be just about any LPC party member wouldn’t it?
We had an Ubermessiah 40 years ago, Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
Yes, girls creamed their pants and followed him through disillusionment to sainthood. Some of them even got laid by him.
More so even than Canadian MSM the American MSM was basically in the tank for Obama.
Advantage Obama.
Time alone will tell whether he is real leader or an empty suit with flowery delivery but banal empty rhetoric.
Barbara Yaffe is a longtime Liberal Party hack who is part of the cabal that will do ANYTHING to get her beloved politicians back in power.
As for Obama, yes let’s hope that we have Canadian politicians who accept tens of millions of dollars in illegal foreign donations. Let’s hope we have Canadian prime ministers who appoint clearly corrupt chiefs of staff. And let’s hope we have Canadian politicians who have corrupt journalists perfectly trained to support them like seals at an aquarium. Oh wait, we already have the latter!
Hey, I don’t want an Obama. Americans like their touchy feely stars. Canadians go more for staid pragmatics. There’s no question about Harper’s smarts. Trying to be what he’s not, warm and fuzzy, comes across strained. Let him be what he is and let him do what he does, govern.
The hell with obama, where’s our Margaret Thatcher?
According to Yaffe and all her Canadian media buddies John Turner, no Paul Martin, no Stepen Dion was supposed to be Canada’s Obama. For a guy who has done nothing in business, academia or government media morons sure ascribe a lot to this big Zero.
Would that mean he’d be from Montreal?
‘where is Canada’s Chicago?”
Could it be maybe…Toronto?
Correct, Allan: Canada’s Chicago is Montreal. As Andrew Coyne wrote in his National Post column on 2003-11-16:
“This is a time of renewal in the national governing party, of change and growth. Out with the old: an elderly millionaire lawyer from Quebec with close ties to the Demarais family. In with the new: an elderly millionaire lawyer from Quebec with close ties to the Demarais family. What a contrast with the previous regime, led by Brian Mulroney, a youthful millionaire lawyer from Quebec with close ties to the Demarais family.”
I just found something hilarious about Yaffe. She wrote a book entitled Exposing Hidden Agenda. Will the author come forth and heal herself?!?
“Where Is Canada’s Obama?”
C’mon! I’m sure there are plenty of one-term politicians in Canada with little experience, other than having their names appear on some dodgy lawsuits…
How many months before the media turn on Obama ?
6 ?
9 ?
He’s as hollow as a pipe and when he has to start making decisions, instead of just talking or voting “present” he’s going to start pissing people off and the media will have to turn on him because there will be nobody else for them to savage.
Gawd its gonna be fun, like shooting fish in a barrel.
Uhbama’s biggest ace in the hole was ability as an orator?!
Haha; that’s funny.
I damn near bought a Juggernaut one time.
But I turned it down when I found out that they have a bad habit of having the wheels fall off of them sooner than later.
How about instead, the Canadian anti-Obama.
Mr. Preston Manning.
Not much sizzle, just the grade-A steak.
I’ve been aysing for some time that Obama was the best president money could buy. His ability (or the organization which he put together) to raise money is unquestioned. His ability as a President? We’ll see in January. I’m not convinced.
We already had our Obama before Obama even came along. His name was Pierre Elliot Trudeau and for 15 years he nearly bankrupted our nation while tearing apart its various regions.
Anymore retarded questions!?
Anymore retarded questions!?

Well said Phil. “Who is Canada’s Obama?” Pfft…what a vacuous question.
When Obama actually … you know … ACHIEVES something significant, then maybe (-MAYBE-) the question might have merit. Until then, can all media on both sides of the border who are in the tank for Obama (that almost all of them), please shut the f*ck up?
Quebec.
Priceless. Er, Montréal?
Mark
Ottawa
I’m wrong. It has started on MSNBC no less. The female host looks so uncomfortable.
Priceless. http://tinyurl.com/7orl7a
Yes, and–being so much better than the US (sarc off)–we’re way ahead of the game: It’s called the LIBERALS. Trudeau, les Desmarais, Montreal-Ottawa (Toronto too).
Lucky us.
P.S. And we’re not talking a province or state here: we’re talking the whole country.
Only in Canada . . .
Indeed, Canada’s Chicago is Montreal, and Canada’s Obama was Trudeau. The U.S. really is behind the times, seemingly embarking on massive public debts, deep cuts to military spending, vast bureaucracies intruding on their economy and establishing something pretty close to organized crime as a government.
I don’t think this is one experiment of ours that they really want to repeat.
They say Obama “built a juggernaut that will be the model of future political campaigns. Looking back at the Canadian campaign that preceded the Oct. 14 vote, voter interest and participation were minimal. Turnout at the polls was below 60 per cent.
What Yaffe didn’t mention is that 53% of the eligible U.S. population voted in the last federal election.
Guess that fact didn’t fit her narrative.
“But when all is said and done, Obama’s biggest ace in the hole was his charisma and ability as an orator. He has star power, exuding confidence, intelligence and likability all at once.
Sadly, this isn’t something that can be packaged, parroted or learned. Politicians have it or they don’t.
In Canada, they usually don’t.”
I always knew Yaffe was a lightweight, but this worship of “charisma” is really quite disturbing, coming from someone who’s supposed to be a professional observer of the political scene.
She sounds more like the president of the Britney Spears fan club.
Barbara, charisma and oratory do not necessarily make the candidate. We want and need substance, not the appearance of it.
Fred at 7:34 PM,
That link, “http://tinyurl.com/7orl7a”, was excellent. I thought the look on the moderator’s face was initially one of feigned exasperation rather than discomfort. It is the look on which these folks rely to end debate, especially if they think they can depend on others in the group to gang up on the offending heretic. She may well have become uncomfortable as her cohorts displayed their ineptness.
Our messiah turned out to be a prince of darkness (Trudeau). We don’t need another one. The Son of the One (Trudeau Jr.) we don’t need either.
I googled Barbara Yaffe and read about two paragraphs of her latest column, an anti-Harper travesty.
I wrote her the following:
The hymn goes “glad [she’d written great] tidings of comfort and joy . . . ” (That would not have been difficult to check.)
I then happened to check out just a few more lines of your column. You’re kidding, right?
PMSH is responsible for the failure of Senate reform? And Dion would make a good senator and PMSH should appoint him?
Less than a quarter of the way through the column, I couldn’t read any further.
And you’re actually paid for this?
Excellent find, Fred!
I heard about Joe’s reaction, but had not seen the panel trying to justify their past performance!
Yaffe, get back to us when Obama actually has to make those tough decisions.
At first I thought Obama couldn’t be any worse than Bush and his determination to bankrupt the US. Now it looks like Obama will bankrupt all of north america if he follows his campain promises.
What Yaffe didn’t mention is that 53% of the eligible U.S. population voted in the last federal election.
Guess that fact didn’t fit her narrative.

Too true. IN SPITE OF the messiah’s massive campaign budget, from sources both legal and illegal, the total vote he attracted was remarkably average…on par with Bush’s 2004 totals. But, these inconvenient facts are ignored by the likes of Yaffe and her ilk. Obama is the 2nd coming, and that is that!
“Too true. IN SPITE OF the messiah’s massive campaign budget, from sources both legal and illegal.”
Illegal? Sources, please.
And no, the voices in your head don’t count.
Yaffe is an empty head from the east (Quebec). News outlets in Vancouver and British Columbia have been stacked with Eastern liberal cult members for 25 or 30 years now. There’s nothing more compelling in Vancouver then to pick up the Vancouver Sun and get that Eastern Liberal point of view from the likes of Baba Yaffe. Who knows more about the political viewpoints and aspirations of British Columbians then some Kool-Aid drinking Liberal from Quebec. I remember Yaffe summing up the average westerner’s attitude toward the sacred cows of Trudeauvian social engineering policy, such as bi-lingualism, muti-cult, etc. refering to us as “Grumble Bunnies”… Wow, what a powerful insight, it’s nice to have a Quebec Liberal mouthpeice with such an indepth understanding of the western psyche. When you want to know what the average British Columbian thinks about federal politics, who could answer that question better then a Liberal cult member from Quebec.
hypocritic…it’s well documented the the Big-O’s campaign disabled their online identification systems for their internet-based campaign collections. It takes no leap in logic, or faith, to conclude portions of his campaign contributions came from offshore sources as a result, which is … cough … illegal under U.S. law. If you want sources, take 2 seconds and google it. Otherwise, remain blissfully ignorant. It’s your choice.
What Yaffe also forgets to mention is the US is a republic and they have a presidency. We’re neither. We vote for candidates in our riding who represent a party and platform. Our system is more like the US congress.
hypocritic … oh, and by the way, well done for questioning a tangential issue in my post, and ignoring the main thrust of my point.
Let us see now.
“Canada’s politicians have a lot to learn from the president-elect about winning over voters, two experts say” – Yaffe writes.
The way Obama speaks is very much as the communists spoke when others were made to listen. Obama expands on the rhetoric, while saying nothing at all. “Change” was the cry.
What change? To what? Does anybody know or is it some kind of an inside information. Could be.
How do the masses get caught in a mass hysteria? The research has been done in the fifties of the past century and the results were effectively used on the population of the countries ruled by communists.
Consider the population of North Korea. The people are starving; they are dirt poor in the workers paradise, they have no prospect of good life whatsoever. How is it that they openly cry when the dear leader moves his brow like Bugs Bunny conducting Elmer Fudd in the Rabbit of Seville (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8o4pqQw5sE&NR=1) and commands them?
Remember the documentary, where they asked a number of questions of those that voted for Obama. Most of them did not have a clue what the simple questions were about, let alone having an answer. They voted for Obama because others told them to, because others did or because they were racists.
To emulate Obama’s modus operandi would make other politicians look really stupid.
Obama got by with an empty rhetoric that was pleasing to the ear of many.
Canadians should be weary of the song of sirens.
For those not familiar:
Sirens – sea nymphs luring sailors onto rocks: in Greek mythology, a sea nymph, half-woman and half-bird, who was believed to sing beguilingly to passing sailors in order to lure them to their doom on the rocks she sat on.
According to Wikipedia, the answer is, “family crypt at St-Rémi-de-Napierville Cemetery in Saint-Rémi, Quebec”.
Poor Barbara Yaffee – she was once a good investigative reporter – one of the very few in Canada. But then came her falling out with the Blubb and Wail and the Communist Broadcasting Corpse; and she’s never been the same since.
Doesn’t anyone else here get sick of Babby Yappy?? Can’t stand the bitch and she won’t put an email up the little chickenshit.
Fred’s link is a must see.
When the media starts dissing their own it looks good.
My ‘instinct’ tell me Iggy really loves Canada.
Wonder if these MSM idiots will ever get off their knees. Obama just won an election. He hasn’t even started the job yet.
I second the kudos for the Scarborough video. I hope that Kate et al will post the video Sunday.
The best career decision John McCain ever took was losing to the Obamaman. The US economy is going to tank; 13 billion won’t be enough to save the auto industry, and despite Bernanke’s printing presses – or maybe because of – the US dollar is sliding almost as quickly as Zimbabwe’s. The Americans are creating inflation by manufacturing money, and the lower dollar will only make it worse.
So, although I agree with the general sentiment that Obama is an empty suit, I have some sympathy for him; no one – not even the second coming of Christ – could navigate through the fiscal mess the US is in. What will be amusing is watching the media fall all over themselves trying to explain why Obama failed, and blaming Republicans, past and present, for the mess.
Lev wrote, “They voted for Obama because others told them to, because others did or because they were racists.”
Re the latter, I have two close relatives who have very differing views of Obama, and would have cancelled each other’s votes, if they were American. One gushed, “It’s about time the US has a black president.” I pointed out that we have another relative who wouldn’t vote for Obama, no matter what—because he’s black.
I then pointed out that both views—based strictly on Obama’s COLOUR—were equally racist and that there was no merit in either. My “tolerant, inclusive” relative, who was obviously quite happy at being so tolerant and inclusive, had obviously not considered that—and just changed the subject!
That segment on MSNBC was the greatest, Fred- everyone should watch it.
